NECROING this game!

I'll use it to cool off during my expeditions into Anauroch Desert!

ITEM 283: A cursed Cloak of the Bat that instead of letting you polymorph into a Bat, itself turns into a hostile Giant Bat if you try to use the command word to Polymorph.

It's actually more like 60 bucks for the whole year, not per month, but yeah, Humble Bundle is also nice.

I don't know... PS Plus gets you several free games a month and some of them are really good, too. I got Tales From The Borderlands full edition for PS4 recently. It's a bit more expensive, yes, but you also get some very nice perks.

Speaking of getting laid...

Of all the side-effects ending a 9-year-long dry spell would bring me, I never expected my newfound self-confidence in that regard would make me want to have sex with hot, kinky women solely for being hot and kinky.

I honestly feel dirty for not living up to my own standards in regards to what I think a man should be when it comes to relationships.

Hot and kinky is nice, whoever said don't stick your dick in crazy didn't get some crazy action. Just don't commit, have some fun and bide your time until you find a girl that really makes you want to put a ring on her finger!

I basically just won a labor lawsuit for about US$ 12k because the company was a no-show and didn't present a defense.

It's my first real case and the money will be reaaally good.

Of course, it still needs sentencing and after that it's the whole process of going after the company's assets to actually get the money, but depending on how things go from here it could end up being even more than just the 12k, and i'm getting 20% off of it, so, i'm really really stoked.

A brief overview at just how bad things are right now in Brazil, in english for your reading pleasure: http://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/brazil-operation-car-wash-involves-billions-in-bribes-scores-of-politicians/

I think we should get guillotines, but that's just me

Wait for a waiting list, this is insane. Why not move inactive people to the bottom of the list and just keep a running list? It makes no sense.

Social Security called me the other day to inform me I had a myriad of social services I wasn't using. I followed the steps they laid out for me, where I found that I actually don't have those services, because they have a ONE YEAR WAIT before they reopen the WAITING LIST to WAIT to be put on the NORMAL LIST to get the services.

What? I can't even follow the logic

Is it bad that I forget that some of you poor souls live in Brazil?  :(

It's good, it means you probably think higher of us!

So, you guys know that less than a year ago our president was impeached, right?

IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN

Our republic is going down, boys. I'm strapping on my seatbelt because it's gonna be a wild ride.

I'm just waiting to see the plea deals coming from every direction.

You guys think House of Cards is something?

THINK AGAIN

We have it beat by a mile and it's all happening in real time.

We don't know what's going to happen tomorrow.

Hell, by this point, i'm really thinking we might see some serious serious shit happening.

I'm worried we might not be a democracy for very long!

Terrain is riiiiiiiiipe for a military takeover, or some other form of takedown.

Our constitution might be subject to change!

Anything is possible!

Anime was getting a bit boring for me, but i found a breath of fresh air from the most unexpected of places:

CHINA

King's Avatar has been surprising me. I'm on the third episode, and i'm absolutely hooked. I find myself wanting more but can't get it until more are translated. Apparently, the sixth out of twelve episodes has been aired, but no english subs are available as of yet.

Animation quality is a solid 10/10, easily on par with AAA anime titles coming from Japan, really outstanding animation quality.

The story, so far, is pretty good. An MMO pro who kept out of the spotlight and refused to surrender to the commercialization of his persona is forced to retire from the game, due to the contract with his pro team and his age, and to give up his max level account to his younger replacement. But his deep knowledge of the game and impressive talent will not go to waste, as he is not done with the game yet.

The characterization is way more mature than you commonly see in animes of the type made in Japan, and it manages to avoid, so far, most of the tropes we have come to associate with this kind of flashy, action-scene oriented anime. It's "shounen" with mature characters and a more mature story, which so far, is a pretty good combination.

Better than Sword Art Online so far. Remains to be seen if it will continue to be so.

One thing is for sure: I will be looking forward for more Chinese Anime.

Also, it feels so strange watching anime in Chinese. But also really awesome. After getting used to hearing a lot of Japanese, it kind of takes me waaaaay back, to when i first started watching Anime and couldnt understand a damn thing they were saying, and the language felt so absolutely alien to me. Good nostalgia.

Pretty hard exam coming tomorrow. Haven't done anything these last two days, not even bathed, just studying for this god forsaken thing. I really need to organize better and not leave everything til the last minute...

Even though i feel like i've studied just about everything there is to know i still somehow feel like i'm not well prepared enough.

Despair is slowly settling in.

Starcraft 2, not Soul Calibur 2.  You guys already seem to be having totally different conversations, I figure I should point that out before you guys start talking past each other yet again.
Ahh, we were on Zelda & Gamecube and guess who makes an appearance in that game.

I feel like playing LA again too. It's such a great game. LoZ/LoZ2 were standard Nintendo-hard, lots of enemies with poor control. LttP was the revamp to the series that many people take for granted. It focused less on quantity of combat, such as Master Quest of LoZ giving you room after room after room of enemies to clear, and gave us the puzzle style of play. It is the foundation of the Zelda iconic of a boss weakness to the new item obtained but also of map traversing items should serve a purpose in combat too. LA was a refinement of LttP and was expanded on to create the Oracles while LttP would serve as copypasta for LbW. OoT may have the public eye as #1, but it got there after LttP/LA defined the franchise's concepts beyond the top down view exploration LoZ introduced.

In recent years OoT is being less-favourably viewed in lieu of its "sequel" Majora's Mask, that was less afraid to travel unknown territory and deliver a Zelda story Without a princess Zelda. Other titles in the franchise are also being given more credit. OOT has the distinction of being the first 3D Zelda, so, it will always have a place in gamer's hearts, including mine (I 100%'d the game at least 20 times).

But OOT was released in the early stages of gaming, as it were. It gave us something few had up until that point, but many others have matched it since, and even exceeded it.

If somehow OOT was re-released today, with modern graphics and in a modern engine, and people magically forgot all about Zelda games, it would probably get mediocre reviews. It would still be a good or even a great game by any standard, but not stellar enough to amass almost universal praise. The dungeons are relatively small and simplistic, and even an unskilled player can usually complete the game in under 10~12 hours. The story is extremely clichéd, and the orchestral score isn't anything special by today's standard. The combat, as well, is extremely underwhelming by today standards, with enemies having very preset abilities, and with almost no variety in weapons.

Majora's Mask, under the same conditions, would fare much, much better. Its story is very original, with its blend of happy and sad. The mechanic of constantly operating under a clock, but one that you can rewind, is interesting. The different masks give it a depth to combat OOT lacks, and the creepy factor in a "kid's" game is also something really interesting.

All in all, i think much of the fanfare surrounding OoT is that it has the distinction of being "first" in several aspects, while also being really good at all of those things it was first at. It was revolutionary and set a new, much higher bar, for anything that came after it. That is why it is such an amazing game for all of us, none of us had played anything quite like it when it was released. It was an achievement, a masterpiece. And it gave us all of that in a very pretty real 3D shell.

I regret the decision of buying SC2 at launch in 2010. Paid waaay too much for what it was at the time, and the game is now completely different. The SC2 2017 Battle Chest is at a pretty good price right now and i felt tempted to buy it, tbh. For the past two weeks i've been enjoying casts from this years tournaments and been itching to get back into it. I was solidly into Diamond and progressing nicely when i stopped playing in 2011 and i feel like i could get into step if got back into it, but also feel for my social & financial life if i would get roped into an e-sport again. SC2 is one hell of a drug.

idk, Nintendo has always loved to release things in a way that forces you to constantly rebuy them.  :P

At least you're not playing BotW on a Wii U I suppose, as part of the expansion pass you get a Nintendo Switch t-shirt to run around in and it'll probably sit in your inventory for the rest of your life reminding you every single time you scroll through your items to change or eat or cook that you should buy a frigging Switch. Because that's exactly what they did, an in game commercial for another console.

I was used to the Nintendo that released complete games. Ones i could buy and not rage at the fact that 70%+ of the game is behind Paywalls of differing kinds. No more, i guess. They're just like any other game company now. Sad.

I'll have to completely agree with you for once, that's just absolutely lazy design and an obvious cash grab. The most un-nintendo like thing Nintendo has ever done.

Trying REALLY hard to contain my rage against EVERYTHING
At this point i don't even know there's anything left to cherish here in this earth
Nor that there ever was, for it's basically all an illusion we create to justify our existence
I just feel everything up till now was a lie, and will continue to be, and there is no point justifying anything
Humanity is lost

Exactly, LoL and DOTA2 can afford not being on console. They also can afford being free to play with microtransactions. All on account of their popularity.

I agree, Grand Strategy and Turn Based has seen a resurgence in the past few years. But in any case, they are two genres that, by and large, have never had a competitive scene as far as i know, or if they do, it's so small as to be of no importance. Because of that, balance is less important. If a game doesn't develop a competitive scene, you don't see nearly as much whining on forums/the internet, because most people simply won't play into the online aspect of the game.

Not an RTS, but, for instance, the new Doom. The online isn't NEARLY as good as what people hoped it would be. But, it still can stand on it's amazing campaign, and Snapmap bringing some fresh new content (although, Snapmap could've been so much better than it is. As it stands it has a lot of limitations).

Speaking of RTS's/GS/Turn Based...

Europa/Hearts of Iron/Crusader Kings don't have to worry TOO much about balance. Haven't seen or heard of a competitive scene, or even many people that do online at all. They still care to, because the Dev's are completely and utterly devoted to that game, i have literally never seen a company care so much about their game as these guys do. They strive for perfection. They still screw up though. BUT, it still doesn't have a competitive scene. It would be fine if they would stop buffing/nerfing stuff. It's nice that they do, though.

CIV and AOE II tackle balance differently from the others. Different civs have, mostly, access to the same units and tech. Their uniques and advantages are what differentiate them from other civs, and this is much easier to balance than, for instance, Starcraft's VASTLY different three factions.

AOE II does indeed have a competitive community, and i have seen some matches. It's interesting. They're a relatively small community, but the skill ceiling is very high. You get trounced if you don't have many years of online AOE experience. It's, in a way, similar to what Brood War has become over the years outside Korea.

And i don't have to mention SC2. It's pretty big, the biggest of them all. And brings in the most money.

Online is a pretty big deal these days... If a game doesn't have a strong online component, chances are, it won't sell very well.  Games based on very well-known franchises seem to be the exception, because they already have a big following. There are exceptions, from big-time AAA publishers that can woo the public with their shiny graphics or their new gimmick.

Successful new IP's, on all genres, are becoming few and far inbetween. Horizon Zero Dawn is the most memorable to come off of the top of my head, as well as Nioh - which still capitalized on being "Souls-like".

But on RTS... Man... I can't really recall the last successful new IP. I really can't.
