General D&D Discussion / Re: If you had to be, what would you be?
« on: November 07, 2016, 01:18:48 AM »
Psionics can be pretty difficult to identify without using psionics, and if this is actually *me* Int is pretty much the only score I can rely on being a positive modifier ...  All of my physical scores are more in the realm of 8. :p Though if this is again *actually me*, Constitution and Strength are still going to be better than Dexterity by some amount, and an 8/10/10/11/11/12 array would put them average enough.

Shaper (possibly Tashalatora Shaper), creative application and subtle manifestation. Gestalt with ... Beguiling Influence would come in handy in a pinch, but I have no dexterity, so Dragonfire Adept possibly makes more sense for ... one level, depending how obvious the Dragonblooded is with just one level. Not sure if I can meet the alignment requirements for Warlock. Dragonblooded does open up draconic auras, which could be used for some subtly helpful things. I'd probably lay low and dabble in dips like 'cloistered cleric of an ideal', human paragon to get that int up, bard, warblade and whatnot with the spare levels if I avoided enough dying to earn XP.

Module 2 and
Module 3

Continuing Call of Cthulhu modules written by said friend. I've promised to read them at some point, but I'm scared to ...  :p

Speaking of Call of Cthulhu, my friend has been writing some investigations for the 7th edition rules to supplement the available content.

While free to access, he's hosting them on Patreon, so in this thread they go.  :tongue

There's some overlap. I wavered somewhere on the anarchosocialist edge as a teenager before deciding that moderating my opposition to the use of force just might be helpful in actually solving problems or living in society.

I'm pretty sure Sanders isn't an anarchist? Believing that the government is currently misusing force in some ways doesn't mean you think it is criminal at all times and circumstances to do so ...  :tongue Running for commander-in-chief if you did might be a bit odd.

Ehm, PFS wouldn't let you sell the tapestry you found in the red dragon's lair, no. You'd get it accounted for in the gold pieces of your chronicle sheet, and possibly have them as an option for something you could buy with those gold pieces to abstract finding it / having access to it.

PFS handles wealth differently from a non-PFS campaign that is still Pathfinder. Crafting (for the most part) isn't allowed, for example, except as a check that earns a certain amount of additional wealth on your sheet based on your roll at the end of an adventure. Item creation feats aren't allowed and anything requiring them gets an alternate. And its rules on wealth are what they said. Not Pathfinder's rules, Pathfinder Society's.

Notsure what campaign documentation is but it might be some alternate form of accounting vs chronicle sheets. Generally speaking for most PFS characters they won't have any equipment that isn't purchased with wealth from a chronicle sheet aside from the 150 starting gold?

You guys are coming across as not playing PFS, which is what the ruling was for, and in which context it's ... entirely by the rules and reasonable. It actually isn't a pathfinder-in-general ruling.

A demo game coded in Python breaking ... is actually more worrisome to me than any other game, currently. Will perhaps inform my new team to test any GUIs in 10 ...

your printer is better than mine (you suck  :lmao )
I don't have a printer, I use Shapeways' printing service. Presumably they have slightly better than home printers, though are still one of the lower-priced printing services.

Got a couple of rings in, one of which Mystra's symbol happened to inspire me to:
Star of the Arcane Order Ring

Dragon wings are pretty stylish, too, and this one came out rather pretty.

Positive levels sound somewhat familiar, there might be a way somewhere within the Bastion of Broken Souls adventure ... checking now.

Edit: Yes, positive levels make a brief appearance, albeit in a unique context and saying nothing about them working opposite for undead. Was hoping for a slightly less specific appearance, can't learn too much more about acquiring/using this one without spoilers. And uh, an 18th level adventure might not be too accessible for a level 11 caster.

I'd often rather have dresses vs things that I care about and friends disagree with me on. Then again I keep facebook around mainly to contact people.

Min/Max 3.x / Re: Pathfinder ranged paladin?
« on: June 26, 2015, 01:58:39 PM »
Try dndtools.pw , and yeah, definitely use the Pathfinder paladin for ranged. Only particular disadvantage there is getting Turn Undead equivalents takes more resources that can be used well on other things, and maybe that the special mount or alternative works a bit differently (referencing druid animal companion, if you take the beast vs the bonded weapon).

Well, that and it is less likely to in fact be a cleric with prestige paladin levels.  :p

To the OP:

When I first read the thread title, I thought it might be a parody in the vein of "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift.

... admit I was hoping for this.

Most things should list their sources if actually clicked on? Or are listed under 'third party publisher content' ... as for the search function, not sure, might not be polished.

Not relevant to first level likely, but Dispel Magic no longer has an area dispel option and apparently uses the same caster level check repeatedly against what are mostly going to be the same DCs on a targeted dispel. Both of these caught me by unfortunate surprise after preparing.

Initiating a combat maneuver gives you an advantage at it if I recall what happened the last time one of my party members leapt from a bridge to grapple a flying fiend with a rope tied around them. Something to keep in mind whether trying to use or avoid.

Half-orcs get quite a bit of interesting stuff, having access to things like orc archetypes; likely why there is such a slant towards them in local PFS. On the other hand halflings have no bonus to throwing weapons, though they are proficient with slings and treat 'halfling' weapons as martial weapons (the halfling sling staff in core, which has damage and range similar to a light crossbow, adds strength, and can be used as a club (which has moved to one-handed)).

Check on available sources, because Pathfinder has a lot but depending on campaign context you may be only able to use what you own (Pathfinder Society) or may be able to add third-party Pathfinder compatible supplements.

I sense  your miniatures line will be focused on small mammals  :lol

Well, of course. Wonder how tricky it would be to sculpt a weasel ... ... I may be a bit focused on mustelids ... *pat dire weasel mount

Looks very cool. How do you get the metallic finishes? I've been thinking of getting a 3d printer myself. I was wondering if anyone has tried physical vapor deposition on top of 3d printed plastics for smoothing things out and adding durability.

Shapeways will print in actual metal (and apply a coat in case of gold/grey/black steel); I've also tried using metallic paint over white plastic, which is a lightweight alternative though not one I can offer through the shop (aside from DIY). For non-steel metals they print and cast rather than printing the metal directly I believe.

Congrats.
 :clap
Looks good.
Dwarf Druid is hard to see the detail, could be zoom enlarged.
More paint / or other finish variations.
Fluff(-ish) captions as a sales tactic.

Sadly can't sell things painted quite yet. Am in full color plastics pilot but they aren't ready for prime time, and that's still not finished as I like to do ...  :)

My camera is not the best, try as I might to get good pictures, still envy anyone with so much as a smartphone camera.  :(

Captions are a good idea. It can be pulling teeth to get me to do proper sales/marketing/whatnot.  :p

Fixed, hopefully. Apparently putting the URL in quotes was a problem rather than helpful...  :p

On the miniatures front most things I might try may be kind of overshadowed by the foray of Herolabs into 3d printing ...

But still, check out my shop: Luminous Designs

And if you feel like it send me some ideas what to design next ...  :)
