Phonema of Affection:
Duration: 1 turn
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 creature or object
You cry out, and the target's wrath is turned aside. The target takes a -4 penalty on attack rolls made against the subject until the end of its turn. The target is aware of this, and can choose a different course of action if you use this utterance in response to an action it took.
Phonema of Rage:
Duration: Instantaneous
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 randomly chosen creature within the target's reach
You let forth a shout of anger that resonates with the target, who immediately lashes out in a blind rage. The target makes an attack of opportunity against the subject, as if that creature had provoked one, even if the target ordinarily considers the target of the attack an ally or close friend. The target must actually be able to make this attack; for instance, if the target simply has no attacks of opportunity remaining, this utterance does nothing. If used in response to an action, this attack of opportunity is considered to be provoked by that action for the purposes of interference with spellcasting and similar abilities. You can't make a target attack itself. If you target an item, the item's wielder makes this attack and is used to determine the subject, but the item must succeed on an Ego check to force the wielder to do its bidding.
Syllable of Affection:
Duration: 1 round
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 creature or object
You fill the target's heart with love and generally fuzzy feelings. Any damage the target deals to the subject for the duration is nonlethal, and the target is aware of this. The target also takes a -4 penalty on attack rolls against the subject.
Syllable of Rage:
Duration: 1 round
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 randomly chosen creature within the target's reach
You speak a harsh bark that fills your target with rage and madness. For the duration, the target is limited in the actions it can take as if by a Barbarian's rage. Additionally, it makes an attack of opportunity against the subject, in the same fashion as the phonema of rage. Finally, for the duration, the target any nonlethal damage the target deals is, instead, lethal.
Word of Affection:
Duration: 1 round
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 intelligent creature or object
Your utterance fills the target with joy and gratefulness for imagined kindnesses. The target regards the subject as a dear friend, and a trustworthy ally. What, exactly, this means for the target is a matter of individual personality, but it will not consider attempting to kill or seriously injure the subject, and the bond is sufficient that the target will likely be willing to defend it in combat. Because the target trusts the subject so thoroughly, the subject gains a circumstance bonus on Bluff and Diplomacy checks equal to ½ your speaker level, rounded down. Unlike most, this bonus does not stack with other circumstance bonuses.
This utterance doesn't affect the target's opinion of anyone else, including the subject's allies. How the target rationalizes this varies from target to target, but they always do. Creatures and intelligent items may recognize that some unnatural effect is responsible for this behavior with a Sense Motive check with a DC equal to 10+your speaker level, but the target takes a -10 penalty to recognize the effect on itself. If it does recognize it, its response is again dependent on its personality, but while the duration lasts, the utterance still modifies its behavior, so the target still won't consider attacking the subject, and so on. Feelings of betrayal or confusion are, however, common, at least until the utterance wears off.
Word of Rage:
Duration: 1 round
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 creature or object
You speak into your target's mind thoughts of violence and betrayal. The target attempts to attack the subject to the best of its ability for the duration. It won't take obviously suicidal actions, and it won't necessarily endanger the lives of its allies (except for, possibly, the subject), but its attacks might not be limited to actions such as charging into melee. A swordsage, for instance, might hurl a shadow garrote at the subject. Any time the target rolls damage against the subject for the duration, the target gains a +1 bonus to damage for each natural 1 rolled on the damage dice.
Sentence of Affection:
Duration: 1 minute
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 intelligent creature or object
You speak words that uplift the target's spirit and encourage a sense of extreme loyalty. The target becomes utterly devoted to the subject for the duration. The subject's happiness and well-being become top priorities in the target's mind, even if this is grossly out of character for the target. The target will never consider attacking the subject, and will do everything it can to prevent the subject from coming to harm, even at the risk of personal harm (although, depending on the target's personality, the target may not knowingly risk death). The subject gains a circumstance bonus on Bluff and Diplomacy checks against the target equal to 5 + your speaker level. Unlike most, this bonus does not stack with other circumstance bonuses.
While this utterance affects only the target's opinion of the subject directly, the target will tend to look on the subject's allies with a favorable light and, if asked to refrain from attacking them, will obey except in cases of self-defense. The unnatural influence of this utterance is blatantly obvious, but the target refuses to believe it, no matter how much incontrovertible evidence is presented. The target does not, however, obey the subject's every whim - it retains the ability to make its own decisions about what it believes will result in the happiest outcome, what is a reasonable request, and acts normally in all ways other than noted here.
Sentence of Rage:
Duration: 1 round
Target: 1 intelligent creature or object
Subject: 1 intelligent creature or object
Your voice fills each target with incomprehensible rage. The target goes berserk, and attempts to kill the subject by any means possible. The target will undertake obviously suicidal actions in pursuit of this goal, but only if they have an apparently reasonable chance of successfully damaging the subject. The target will disregard any other consequences of its actions, such as the possibility of allies being inadvertently killed. The target will use whatever method it has at its disposal that is most effective, regardless of whether the subject really merits such an effort (for instance, an enraged wizard might cast meteor swarm at a housecat). Any time the target rolls damage against the subject for the duration, it may reroll that die once and add the result to the total damage. This second die cannot be rerolled, even if it is a natural 1.
