Based on the Dice Roller post above we will stay with Invisible Castle for rolling.

Just to get the talk back to our game specifically, I plan on rolling a perception check to see if I realize just how screwed Steve is. After I inevitably fail that I plan on stepping back, cursing someone, shrieking for assistance and trying to blast one of our new friends

To Dave's point combat seems really mechanical (at least at lower levels) because you have an ability that is clearly superior and it's pretty much all you use. The strategy seems to be knowing when to whip out your encounter and daily abilities. That's not all bad though. In ye olden times when man had not yet descended from the trees and I played all low level charachters depended heavily on their weapons because even though you had a mage or a cleric you would only be able to use your spells three or four times without resting. Which seriously blew.

"I AM A POWERFUL WIZARD!"
*stabs enemy repeatedly with dagger*
*takes 4 damage and dies*

Also way out of left field and off topic, but Steve, have you ever taken the family to Tokyo Disney Sea? If so is it as awesome as it sounds?

Our game thread has been put up. I will get us rolling tonight when I get home.

In the first level you will rely on your at-wills often. When you start getting more encounter powers you'll probably feel more free with unleashing those. Remember your encounter powers come back after a short rest between encounters while daily powers do not. (Unless your a melee ranger, then your likely spamming twin strike at-will all day long ;))

Disney Sea is great - I think my favorite Disney park.   More to do for adults by far.
