Safety first. We'll go back. We can check the weather tomorrow. The hunting party is still missing.

The way back to town is uneventful, and the snow is pretty bad by the time you get there.  It's basically whiteout conditions.  The hunting party hasn't come back.  Have you told the men what to say about what you've found?

I'll tell the ones I trust the details. The others I'll tell it looks like someone murdered the people in the farms semi-recently, and it doesn't look like animals.

At this point, we'll wait to see what the day looks like tomorrow.

Conditions aren't much better when one of the missing hunters stumbles wounded and frozen into the town.  He immediately collapses, and is taken to the closest thing you have for a doctor for aid.  He does not regain consciousness, and the physician says he is suffering from exposure and shock.  He cannot identify the wounds on the man as they are not made by either tools or animals.

Knowledge (TMWNMTK) to identify the wounds:
[roll]1d20+11[/roll]

Edit:
Apparently, the dice-roller has stopped working:
Is this related to the dice roller having stopped working?

Yep, the update did that.

I'll roll d20+11, but you can do your own roll if you'd rather -> 19+11 = 30

They are massive puncture wounds, meant to drain the body of blood quickly.  There's several possible culprits from legend, ome of which is a spider like being...

"spider-like being" is a reoccurring theme from things Elizabeth has found. She has the man moved to a warm location and tried to get him hydrated, if at all possible.

From which direction did he come? Elizabeth cannot go out now, in bad conditions.

Roughly the same direction you came from, just a little more to the west

She'll see if she or the doctor can get him to regain consciousness over the next few days. Strip him and try to get him warmed up in a bath. Does she see anything else unusual on him, other than the puncture wound?

How is the weather the next morning?

wounds.  Nothing else seems unusual, but he is in bad shape physically and mentally.

The snow has slowed down so it isn't whiteout conditions, but it's kind of deep.

It's going to be hard to find things by tracks, and dead bodies might be buried, but Elizabeth should head out with a group to look for survivors.

The travel is extremely slow.  You don't find much of anything, but the cattle are still at the Gruber farm if you want to return with them.

Lets take them back, then check on the state of the returned hunter from the day before.

He has not regained consciousness.  There is some kerfuffle over the cows as Gruber has no will leaving them to anyone, nor does he have relatives anyone knows of.

"Resources are short, and, as you said: there was no will or living relatives. We can use them for food and the manure to help with producing more powder."

We'll want to make sure we don't keep them too far on the outskirts, where they might get attacked by trogs.

If the next day is still, Elizabeth wants to scout the surrounding area as a hawk. She wants to look for any more hunters, to see if any trogs are out (or if they're alive at the cave), and just is looking for anything else.

The sky is still threatening and the winds are bad, but you have an opportunity.  You see virtually nothing but white, as the snow has convinced everything to stay put.  You do see smoke on the mountains however.  The trogs have obviously found a means of making fire.

She's hoping the winter makes food scarce enough to hurt their numbers.

After she heads back, she lets the lieutenants know what she saw. She checks on the condition of the returned hunter. She checks on the prisoner.

The hunter is worse than ever.  As you enter the room tthe prisoner speaks up.

"You need to kill him.  Sooner rather than later.  Preferably by fire or lye."

"What's inside of him?"

Sense Motive = 1d20+10
Rolled 1d20+10 : 3 + 10, total 13

"You've been paying attention then.  The 'spider' has laid her young in him, and it's not long before they hatch.   It would be a mercy to him to put a musket ball through his head and burn the body.  Beware though.  She'll know when they die, and she'll want revenge."
