* Disclaimer - I dont own any of this material. I have no affiliation with the Easy Bake Wizard, its just a point of reference.

** Further disclaimer - It may turn out that a generalized spell book is useless. It is completely reasonable that a few specialized books may be ideal. such as BFC, Illusion, Necro and blasting.

The idea here is to make a spell book for the Easy Bake Wizard, a minimum book based only on the spells gained due to class advancement.

Suggestions should contain spell name, level, source and argument for inclusion.

By default I am going to include all the SRD spells. They are not all great. They wont all stay. If you want something removed, just call it out and give a reason. Undefended spells will be purged in order of self evident unworthiness.

The target here is the 103 spells spanning levels 1 - 9 that you want in your spell book at a minimum.

Level 1 spells should total >~13 (7 + int modifier (12 int = 1) + 5 at second level) (unless some great reason exists to sacrifice a higher level spell to get more). The odd number of 1st and 2nd levels spells is due to they Easy Bake base build.

Extra spells per level will be accepted to allow for source limitations.

First impression, first thought, take it for whatever it's worth - maybe not a lot.

I'd ditch Phantom Trap from that list as soon as possible.  It's extraordinarily niche, and seems vaguely decent for an NPC but just about worthless for most violent hobos.  I'd much rather have Phantom Foe from the Spell Compendium, if sticking with an Illusion spell.

- phantom trap
+ phantom foe - spell compendium

none of the srd defaults are written in stone (make your own spell joke).
they are just filler till they get weeded out.

Limited Wish can generate a Psychic Reformation.

So from there, the Expanded Spell List stuff comes into play.

The DM pretty much has to rule whether you can or can not use it.

many avenues exist to increase available spells, this is just a simple list.

A few things to remember with Easy Bake.

Though slightly cheesy you can add on the Domain Wizard ACF from UA. This will get you extra spells known.

Spontaneous Divination ACF from Complete Champion is also a nice ACF as well.

Summon Monster "X" - at higher level there are a lot of creatures you can summon that have SLA's and spellcasting of their own. This can help you to potentially lower the number of spells you need to have on your own list.

Oh sure.  PsyRef-ing the way I listed, doesn't happen 'til level 13+ anyway.

PHB2 retrain can redo 2 spells each level and right from the start
... although that retrain "slot" might have better uses.
So that'd be a max of 38 extra spells to write into the spellbook.
(assuming you still have one , which isn't the point of this thread , oops)

Gorfnad posted the Easy Bake Wizard build on BrilliantGameologists, which altpersona linked to in his original post.  Here it is!

Quote
Easy Bake No "Worries" Wizard

Elf, preferably Gray or Fire

Elf Wizard Racial Sub - Races of the Wild
Eidetic Spellcaster ACF - Dragon Magazine #357
Spontaneous Divination ACF - Complete Champion - Optional but great at higher levels
Collegiate Wizard feat - Complete Arcane

1st Level - 7+ Int mod 1st level spells known, all cantrips, 1 extra spell per day of highest level
No Familiar, No Scribe Scroll, No Spellbook

If flaws are available
Precocious Apprentice: Melf's Acid Arrow, Ice Knife, or Combust - Complete Arcane
Acidic Splatter, Winter's Blast, or Fiery Burst - Complete Mage
Sacred Vow + Vow of Poverty - Book of Exalted Deeds - depending on the campaign, this may work

Note: Every level after 1st that advances wizard spellcasting gets you 5 spells known for free instead of the usual 2

Edit: If you're playing in Eberron, the feat Aerenal Arcanist (Player's Guide to Eberron) will net you an additional spell known per level netting you 8+Int spells at 1st level and 6 additional spells known every level after that.

Basically look into the feats Collegiate Wizard and Aerenal Arcanist. These two feats together will give you an insane number of spells known when combined Elf Generalist Wizard ACF. If you go with Eidetic Spellcaster then you will not be reliant on a spellbook. Eschew Materials will also make it so that you only need material components 1gp or higher. You can have these three feats (Collegiate Wizard, Aerenal Arcanist, and Eschew Materials) at first level with two flaws. From there look into the best battlefield control  and utility spells you can find.

I'm 100% certain that there are 2, 3 or 4 total Group Affiliations and/or Favored Feat options that give your Easy Bake Wizard the benefit of an additional +1 Spell Learned / Level.  (Note: The Favored Feat came about in Cityscape I think.  Eberron has the unrelated Favored in House Feat.)

Keep in mind, I last looked into this a *long* time ago.  You'd have to comb all the books that give these options.  There's a Forgotten Realms sourcebook that has one of those options.  An Eberron one, too.

You'd probably have to look through DMG2 or PHB2 as well.
