An implicit 11th commandment:

You're part of a game among friends.  Be nice.  Ask about explicit things that are likely to make people go "Whoa!" even if your GM says, "You can use anything from <these sources>."

hmm ... you know, these definitely stand the test of time.


I'd say you can make exceptions between the original 10
and the practical 10, to include various understandings
from the more recent epoch of BG.

The two Caster Level commandments are fine as far
as they go ... tongue firmly in cheek.  But if you wanna
play a lower tier type game that controls the potential
spellcasting craziness better, going AGAINST them, works just fine.

Similarly, 3.0e material isn't really a problem at all.
Especially after filtering through the CL commandments.

Making sure all the participants are on board with this, helps too.
