I assume that I just copied it and didn't remove it from the base computers?

Copied it. You could erase the data with another check. Though the DC is just as high as the last since the system is hostile toward you.

I don't suppose there's any way for me to log in as the scientist?

If she was alive still you might have been able to get that information  :). You can attempt to improve the computer's attitude to you which would be akin to slicing the system to log in like the researcher.

So where did Silten's snaky lisp go on that one? Is he trying to sound like her there? If so then give me a deception role please.

Oh, for some reason I assumed that it was text based since I was on a computer.

Completely changing the post.

Is there a chart somewhere with DCs to improve the computer's relation to me so I can get a gist of how successful I might be if I try again?

I have been running Slicing kinda loosely compared to the rules in the book (I like to make skill uses more interesting than the strict uses in the books). Often times as skill challenges so the DCs have been different based on the difficulty of the SC. This time is probably one of the first times I have used the books rules since I was not running this one as an SC figuring you were going to be "One and Done" with getting the data.

In this case I was still allowing you to access information even though the computer had a hostile attitude so I used the modifiers based on the computers attitude toward you (found on 76 of SWSE Core Rules) and modified the DC for specific information which started at a 20 so that DC was a 30 and you hit it with that original roll.

To improve access you have to use the Computers WILL and add the modifier for the computer's attitude (really it is subtract from your rolls but since this is PbP it is easier for me to modify the DC up and allow you to just roll your checks the same way every time) for the DC to improve. If successful the computers attitude improves by one step. Hope this helps answer the question ( I know it is not the answer you are looking for in every case though).

I will be adding another post to our games section for Missions. Sort of a reminder of the ultimate goals of what the party may currently be focused on accomplishing. I think over time (because PbP is so slow and many players are in multiple games) its harder to recall each one. It will update as missions are completed or new ones are added. This way if anyone is like, what were we doing here again or what was that other thing we were supposed to do for soandso, it can be found easier than searching through miles of posts.

That is a great idea. I did do some digging through the old thread a while back to remember who exactly were we looking for so Kel could ask the scientist :P

That, and I had also completely forgotten about blowing the place up...

Which is funny because I think you are the one carrying the charges  :)

Are you going to set up an ambush for any troopers they send in?

From the mission log it looks to me like i should just go for broke and try to get full access, especially since we've got company coming anyway.

Thoughts?

I agree. They don't know how many we are, and we can set up to wait for them.

What does everybody else think?

I'll throw a hand in on the access, unless we're taking heavy penalties, I don't know that I can fail the assist roll.

Having me set up explosives would not likely be wise.

FYI my computer just got mailed in for some warranty repairs, I'm borrowing a roommate's laptop.  I won't be able to get on as often as normal for the next couple of weeks, if that holds up the game I give permission for Melblen to take my character's turn.

No the computer goes from Hostile to Unfriendly. The scale is this;

Hostile ---> Unfriendly ---> Indifferent ---> Friendly ---> Helpful

But it does not take very long to keep trying to improve access. And with each success it gets easier to continue to improve access. At Unfriendly the penalty is minus 5 instead of the -10 you got at Hostile (or in PbP the DC is 5 higher instead of 10 higher). Once indifferent the penalty is -2. Friendly there is no penalty and Helpful actually gives you a +2.

I was making a joke based off of how high the roll was.   :P

A lot to adjudicate there, still working on a response post for them all. Will have one up this evening as I finish it up.
