I figured Zane was bored of being on land and decided to try the sea out.  Hearing about a dryad captaining a boat might have piqued his interest as well.

We start on land, and get recruited in-game.

Oh, is that the deal? I'm rather unfamiliar with Savage Tides.

I'm really not sure what to do with Stellan's backstory.  Why does he want to be on this ship?  How is it connected to House Orien?

Maybe he's an advance scout, looking for more business opportunities for the House to expand?

You will be recruited as part of the story. You just need to explain how you got to the Lhazzar Principalities and why.

Is there any level 0 spell we can't live without?

I cant think of one specifically besides the usual Detect Magic and Read Magic but I am sure you can come up with something.

How much should I change my background to explain my presence in the Lhazaar principalities?

Editing my build, I've decided to go Barbarian 20, and thus am less concerned with Fast Healing.  I'm doing Endurance and Steadfast Determination for my first level feats (plus Rageforged) and am pushing Power Attack to third.

Edit: I'm finished except for shared backstory with geniussavant.

Well, I think she is playable now, still a few fluff things to do, but build and spending should be done. Unless there is a better idea to spend ~36 gold on (over a smokestick and acid) of course.

Is it just me, or do first level characters always feel as if they either have a bunch left over, or much less than they need?

Which book(s) have the best info about the Lhazzar Principalities?  I haven't read most of the Eberron story stuff to be honest.
