Title: Kickstarters and Other Crowd-Funding Mega-Thread!
Post by: Nanshork on March 26, 2015, 12:10:06 PM
I figure that having one single thread will make those of us who care about kickstarters notice what other people are interested in so I figured I'd make this thread.

If you have something you want to share, feel free to post it here.  I have a habit of rummaging through Kickstarter every couple of weeks so as long as I can remember that i made this thread in the first place I'll probably keep posting to it.

Lord of the Fries (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheapassgames/lord-of-the-fries) (Funding ends April 3rd) - Fun quick card game about being in a zombie working in a restaurant.  The more money they get, the more restaurants get unlocked.  Each restaurant is it's own deck (and has to be paid for separately) but they'll be adding rules to combine decks to add more players.

Even if you don't want this game, check out the company.  Their website has a lot of print-and-play games for free (including games you can actually buy copies of).

Mistfall (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nskn-ludibooster/mistfall-legendary-adventures-for-1-4-fearless-her) (Funding ends April 2nd) - Coop adventure game for 1-4 players.  It's a pretty cool looking deck-building game.  Hard for me to explain better than just reading the kickstarter would be.  Check it out.

Sea Monster Jamboree Print (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/159974695/sea-monster-jamboree-print) (Funding ends April 18th) - This guy makes weird art (and bandanas, and plates).  I like it.

The Gentleman's Single-Use Monocle (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/weiner/the-gentlemans-single-use-monocle) (Funding ends April 15th) - I think the title pretty much says everything, except ladies can use it too.

And an Indiegogo campaign for kicks

George Takei's Legacy Project (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/george-takei-s-legacy-project?fb_action_ids=10152779510481864&fb_action_types=indiegogo%3Acontribute) (Funding ends May 20th) - This one's all political and whatnot, deal with it.  To sum it up, this is to fund a Broadway musical which in turn will be a perpetual source of funding for the Japanese American National Museum.

Tales of Alethrion (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1862188728/tales-of-alethrion-season-one) - From the makers of The Reward, comes new tales from the world of Alethrion.  If you haven't seen The Reward, do yourself a favor and check it out (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Cw7aAFS5oc).  And while you're at it, watch the first of what hopefully becomes a full series The First Hero (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUlg8Y_mLfA).

I'm still on the fence about pledging since I'm between jobs....  The Cthulhu mythos expansion set is tempting me though.

Reboot the Suit: Bring Back Neil Armstrong’s Spacesuit (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/smithsonian/reboot-the-suit-bring-back-neil-armstrongs-spacesu?ref=nav_search) (Funding ends August 19) - The first kickstarter by the Smithsonian Museum; "A chance for citizens of Earth to conserve, digitize, and display Neil Armstrong's Apollo 11 spacesuit for explorers everywhere."

The Mythos expansion is the one I'm not buying  :lmao
I'm really only interested in the cultists and maybe one or two of the explorers.  I don't really care about the monsters.

I saw some leaked pictures of a 5 headed dragon thing that an interview with Reaper Brian confirmed was going to be a stretch goal, but hasn't even been announced yet.  Still holding out hope!

I want the explorer's and the obelisk.  I have enough fantasy people, I want miniatures for other occasions that I'll never use.

Goremaw is just awesome looking but I know I won't get it.

I have to say, I'm kind of eh on the five headed dragon.  Too big and pricey.

This one is different from what I normally post. (http://www.gofundme.com/2j7q2j7f5js)

A friend of mine's car broke down on the side of a highway, she's living in the spare room of some friend's of hers and has been for awhile.  She supports her 19 year old daughter but had to send the daughter to live with friend's because of some serious problems with where my friend is living. To quote her, "We have no public transportation in La Vernia. I work in San Antonio. Carpooling is not an option as I do not work a 8-5 schedule. I need a vehicle to get to work and in case of an emergency. I am a type one diabetic. Madison has epilepsy and though she is staying with friends currently, if there was a health emergency I would need a vehicle to get to her. The only other vehicle here is not mine and I would surely be pulled over due to it only having one headlight and expired tags. I do drive through four small cities to get to my office and I drive home at night. I know my luck- I would be hit with a ticket in all four towns and I would be responsible for paying these tickets."

If you have any spare money laying around she could really use the help.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/larianstudios/divinity-original-sin-2) (Funding ends September 30th) - I kickstarted the first one and played it.  It's a good game.  More importantly, it's a good game company.  They're coming out with an enhanced edition to the first one and everyone who owns it gets a free upgrade.  This kickstarter also includes alpha and beta access for everyone and they're very good at listening to their player base.

I'm sure that anybody who reads this thread is probably already aware of the situation since the two threads are literally right next to each other right now, but a fellow board member needs our help.

Thanks for posting this for me, man. You're awesome.

While I'm here, I wanted to draw some attention to an idea Solo had that could help me help myself. I outlined it in this thread (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=16407.0). I know I have a bit of renown around here and elsewhere in the gaming community, and I'd like a chance to try for something big.

Anybody who wants to discuss it with Solo and me is more than welcome.

I've got a handful this time.

Monkey House Games Legal Battle (https://www.gofundme.com/monkeyhousegames) - This one's on Indiegogo.  Basically, Jeff Dee (if you know who that is) and company made a game (Villains and Vigilantes) in 1979.  Then the publishing company ceased to exist so the creators decided to release a new edition since publishing rights reverted to them.  Now the former president of the company that no longer exists is suing for trademark infringement.  I hate bullshit like this.

Friday the 13th: The Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/613356213/friday-the-13th-the-game) (Funding ends November 13th) - I'm on the fence about this one.  On the one hand, the game looks and sounds pretty awesome.  On the other hand, I never play asymmetric mutiplayer games (1 big guy vs mutlple normal people like Depth or Evolve).

(The Awesome & Mighty) Machu Picchu Dice (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/382123202/the-awesome-and-mighty-machu-picchu-dice) (Funding ends November 26) - I'll admit, I have a thing for dice.  Especially cool or unique dice.  I've backed a couple of dice kickstarters already and they've been hit-or-miss for me.  However, these dice look amazing!  If you're looking for awesome stone d6's with silver and stone/shell inlay then check these out.

Kill Doctor Lucky (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheapassgames/kill-doctor-lucky) (Funding ends November 13th) - Please note: This isn't the Paizo version of the game.  Publishing rights have reverted back to Cheapass Games (a pretty damn awesome company that I'm surprised that I haven't mentioned before.  (Check them out.) (http://www.cheapass.com/)  If you haven't played it before, think of it as the precursor to Clue.  You and the other players run around a mansion trying to Kill Doctor Lucky without being caught by the other player's.  It's a lot of fun!

Dragon: The Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dragonthegame/dragon-the-game) (Funding ends February 14th) - An open-world action rpg where you are a dragon.  I've been following this game on Steam (it's in early access) and just found out about the kickstarter so I figured i would share it.

7th Sea: Second Edition (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/johnwickpresents/7th-sea-second-edition) (Funding ends March 13th) - 7th Sea is back in the hands of the original creator and so he's overhauling it since it's been over 15 years.  There's also a free quick start rules download.  Also, all pledges over $40 gives you all of the 1st edition books.

A couple more RPGs.

Weird War I - Savage Worlds (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/545820095/weird-war-i-savage-worlds) (Funding ends March 3rd) - Savage Worlds already has Weird War II, Vietnam, and Rome.  Now Pinnacle wants to expand the Weird War series.  There's also a plot point campaign where you're the Germans (but this is WWI so not Nazis).

Robert E. Howard's Conan Roleplaying Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/robert-e-howards-conan-roleplaying-game) (Funding ends March 30th) - It's a 2d20 system (I've never played one of those) and a guy that I know is listed as a "renowned Conan expert" who's making sure the game stays true to its roots.  Also there are quickstart rules.  Definitely could be interesting.

Another pen and paper rpg

KULT: Divinity Lost (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1037361623/kult-divinity-lost-horror-roleplaying-game-rpg) (Funding ends March 31) - In 1991 an RPG was released called Kult (that I've never heard of, just fyi).  Now it's going to be re-released through Kickstarter.  It's a contemporary horror RPG.  Looks interesting.

Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos for Pathfinder (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1816687860/sandy-petersens-cthulhu-mythos-for-pathfinder) (Funding ends April 6th) - The author of Call of Cthulhu wants to print a book converting the Cthulhu mythos to the Pathfinder ruleset.  He's even revising the official Pathfinder Cthulhu mythos monsters that have already been printed.

Also there's going to be a stretch goal for insanity rules.

Also there are miniatures!

Have you ever thought that you didn't feel complete unless you had dice with you at all times?  Or perhaps you want to introduce children to Lovecraft without giving them nightmares?  Well read on!

CUBi DICE : The Smallest Titanium Dice In The World (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/183888392/cubi-dice-the-smallest-titanium-dice-in-the-world) (Funding ends March 16th) - These dice are 5mm per side and come with a keychain holder to carry them with.  Choose how many dice you want (keychain holds 6).

Littlest Lovecraft: The Horror Collection (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/426473987/littlest-lovecraft-the-horror-collection) (Funding ends April 11th) - Contains children friend adaptations of "Pickman's Model", "The Haunter of the Dark", and "The Whisperer in Darkness".  Add-ons also include some pretty cool tumbler glasses, the other three Littlest Lovecraft books, and dice!  (I'm sensing a theme here...)

Edit: H.P. Lovecraft Cthulhu Mythos Petroglyphs: History in Stone (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/arkhambazaar/hp-lovecraft-cthulhu-mythos-petroglyphs-history-in) (Funding ends March 17th) - I'll just quote the kickstarter tagline, "The Cthulhu Mythos on stone, with Elder Things, Shoggoths, & Deep Ones. Plus Miskatonic University T-shirts & Cthulhu Pendants."  It looks pretty damn awesome.

Prism Dice : Handmade from Bulletproof Glass (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1874304670/prism-dice-handmade-from-bulletproof-glass) (Funding ends April 15th) - Way too pricey for me but man wouldn't they be cool to show off?

GLOAID | Self Charging Wayfinding Systems (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1692552050/gloaid-self-charging-wayfinding-systems) (Funding ends March 30th) - A non-game related kickstarter, I just like the idea of high quality glow-in the dark materials.  I don't think that this one is going to meet its goal though.

Massive Darkness (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/massive-darkness) (Funding ends July 7th) - I'm legitimately excited about this one.  It's by the makes of Zombicide and they've proven they can make games that people want to own if nothing else.  The game is a 1-6 player dungeon crawler board game with no DM (monster actions are scripted) and some really nice looking pieces.  Also you can level up and make character development choices all without having to write on anything or make any sort of permanent changes to the game.  The only issue is that it's very pricey (which makes sense given how many miniatures are involved...)

FIRE & BONE 4: Tiny, Digitally Captured, Metal Animal Skulls (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fireandbone/fire-and-bone-4-tiny-digitally-captured-metal-anim) (Funding ends July 12th) - Small metal animal skulls.  I pledged for one of their earlier kickstarters and got a pair of wolf skull cufflinks.  They're good quality and look great, these guys are trustworthy and know what they're doing.

Nova Cry: A 30-minute Sci-Fi Card Game (2nd printing!) (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/eratheboardgame/nova-cry-a-30-minute-sci-fi-card-game-2nd-printing) (Funding ends July 6th) - It looks like a very interesting tabletop game, it's like a tabletop version of a sci-fi computer game.  Look at the kickstarter, it'll explain itself better than I can.

Inner Space: A Collection of Laser Cut Wooden Mandalas (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thirtycircles/inner-space-a-collection-of-laser-cut-wooden-manda) - Cool laser cut wooden mandalas just as the name suggests.

Planetarium (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gamesalute/planetarium) - A board game about making planets.  As of writing this there's no reviews or gameplay videos (but they will show up eventually) but you can download the rulebook, and it won an award in Quebec.  Also, there's only one pledge level and it's $29.

Exoplanets - A planetary life-development board game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gtgames/exoplanets-a-planetary-life-development-board-game) - Name is pretty self-explanatory, not as pretty as Planetarium but easier to figure out from just looking at it.  Also it's an established game in Europe so there's that.

The Light of R'lyeh —Cthulhu Ritual Candles (wax & resin) (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cthulhuproject/the-light-of-rlyeh-cthulhu-ritual-candles-wax-and) (Funding ends July 28th) - I'm not on the fence about this one, they're pretty cool candles (both normal and flameless candles).

To continue the dice theme:

Polyhedral Dice Set: 7 Viking Dice (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1588759266/polyhedral-dice-set-7-viking-dice) (Funding ends September 5th) - The dice themselves aren't OMG amazing in my opinion, but what really excites me about this kickstarter is that you can mix and match dice instead of being force into buying full sets.  Do you want a bunch of d10's for your viking VtM character?  You can do that.

Wondrous Dice - Precision 6061 Aluminum Multi-Colored Dice (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/norsefoundry/wondrous-dice-precision-6061-aluminum-multi-colore) (Funding ends September 10th) - If you've ever wanted aluminum dice that are mottled between two colors like resin/plastic dice commonly are, this is the kickstarter for you.

Copper Metal Gaming Dice - 21 Emerald CZ Stones - AMAZING (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thecopperkingdom/copper-metal-gaming-dice-21-emerald-cz-stones-amaz) (Funding ends September 7th) - Have you ever wanted a d6 that was very obviously a display piece?  Pledge for this kickstarter and you can get a d6 made out of almost pure copper and the pips are all hand set cubic zirconia stones.

13 & 15 sided dice ( D13 & D15 ) w/ DCC & other sets (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/674003445/13-and-15-sided-dice-d13-and-d15-w-dcc-and-other-s) (Funding ends September 15th) - If you're like me, you like weird obscure dice.  This is the place for that.  Check it out!

Adorable Monsters (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/847271320/dungeon-fantasy-roleplaying-game-powered-by-gurps) (Funding ends October 17th) - A cute quick game about making your monsters scary and other people's monsters adorable.  Check it out.

Villains and Vigilantes\ 3.0: The Mighty Protectors RPG (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jeffdee/villains-and-vigilantestm-30-the-mighty-protectors) (Funding ends September 18th) - A superhero RPG by a well established rpg community member (Jeff Dee).  Looks pretty interesting.

Wasteland 3 (https://www.fig.co/campaigns/wasteland-3#about) (Funding ends November 3rd) - This one isn't a kickstarter, it's on a new site called fig that was created by big names in the video game industry and is only for video games, also you can be a legitimate investor.  Anyways, I enjoyed Wasteland 2 and how the company treated their customers in general about that game so here you go.

Scion 2nd Edition Tabletop RPG (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/200664283/scion-2nd-edition-tabletop-rpg) (Funding ends October 22nd) A second edition of the Scion RPG.  If you aren't familiar with Scion, check it out.

I've got a handful of interesting ones today.

Bears vs Babies - A Card Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/elanlee/bears-vs-babies-a-card-game) (Funding ends November 17th) - Another game by the creators of Exploding Kittens.  I'm not sure if I want to back this one, but it sure looks crazy (in a good way).

Helios Touch Modular Lighting (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1987956413/helios-touch-modular-lighting) (Funding ends December 17th) - A pricey but very cool wall mounted modular lighting set up.  Check it out.

Goblins of Elderstone - The Goblin Tribe Simulator (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1479865732/goblins-of-elderstone-the-goblin-tribe-simulator) (Funding ends November 12th) - To quote the creators, "We love playing village and city building games and have been inspired and influenced by games like the Anno series, Banished, Stonehearth, Rimworld and the Settlers series." This looks really cool if they can pull it off.

Waterloop: The Canadian SpaceX Hyperloop Competition Team (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1629380361/waterloop-the-canadian-spacex-hyperloop-competitio) (Funding ends November 18th) - Crowdfunding a hyperloop.  I'm not normally interested in kickstarter's that won't give me something cool, but this is actually cool in it's own right.

Cthulhu Crusades (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cthulhuproject/cthulhu-crusades) (Funding ends November 29th) - A cool looking card game about storming other player's castles to steal their copies of the Necronomicon!

I've been neglecting telling all of you about Kickstarters, time to fix this.

Dashbot: Add AI to Any Car for $49 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1598272670/dashbot-a-49-robot-for-your-dashboard) (Funding ends December 17th) - Adds lots of voice control as well as other features to your smartphone (this is more advanced than Cortana/Google Now/Siri, check out the videos).

Sam & Fuzzy Vol 5 and New Series Hardcover Set (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/168734274/sam-and-fuzzy-vol-5-and-new-series-hardcover-set) (Funding ends December 21st) - I really like this guys webcomics so anything that supports him is good.

Vast: The Crystal Caverns - Second Printing with Miniatures (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2074786394/vast-the-crystal-caverns-second-printing-with-mini) (Funding ends December 18th) - I didn't notice the first Kickstarter for this game, but it looks awesome!  It's an asymmetric game where everybody is going after another person (for the most part, in the case of the cave your goal is to collapse on everyone).

re: dashbot

i have been considering putting an android based unit in my truck, that way i can have apps like Waze handy without killing my phone...

dashbot seems like a nice alternative...

then i notice it is powered by 'chip'. i have a 'chip', neat little thing.... damn near useless :p

im probably going w/ the android option... kickstarters (like chip) have consistently pissed me off.

Okay, I guess I need to up the sales talk.

Spheres of Might A New Pathfinder Martial System  (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1708940685/spheres-of-might-a-new-pathfinder-martial-system) (Funding ends: February 15th) - Do you play Pathfinder? Do you like the Spheres of Power system?  Do you wish that martial characters had more stuff to do?  If you answered Yes to any of those questions (or you just want to look at a cool system that's compatible with 3.5), check this out.  There's even a preview (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1aLaYQEFAWU4zQBx58boJPPaySLgJc0Emmw9eKyIJeGI/edit#heading=h.dc1tasckj5bg).  Check it out, the preview has things for martials that are out of combat/skill based!

BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION - Isometric Post-apocalyptic Adventure (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bischoff/beautiful-desolation-isometric-post-apocalyptic-ad) (Funding ends February 18th) - A nice looking game, worth looking into.  The best selling point I can give is they've got a game out for free, there's a link to it in the Kickstarter.  Play that, see if you like their games, and then decide.

The Dragon Tray (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dogmight/the-dragon-tray) It's a wood and leather dice tray for looking stylish as you roll your dice, and keep them confined so they don't scatter across the table and onto the floor!  Many different styles, finishes, and colours to pick from, and at higher tiers they have more expensive woods.

Dungeon Accessories - Bringing Tabletop Gaming To Life! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/dungeonlair/dungeon-accessories-bringing-tabletop-gaming-to-li?ref=hero_thanks) (Funding ends March 8th) - Another miniatures kickstarter, but this one is for pre-painted dungeon decor.  You can also get a bag of skulls.

Arkham Ritual (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ninjastargames/arkham-ritual) (Funding ends March 8th) - I'm not really sure how to describe this one.  The tagline says "Deception, deduction, and push your luck card game for 3 to 7 players. Keep your sanity and escape from the horrific ritual alive!" It's a deduction party game where everyone has artifacts and you don't know what you have as you try to not lose your sanity.

Thunderstone Quest from AEG (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alderac/thunderstone-quest-from-aeg) (Funding ends March 24th) - Okay, I'm biased here.  I played Thunderstone and enjoyed it.  I then purchased Thunderstone Advanced and pretty much every expansion for it (think of that as version 2).  This is version 3.  It's a competitive dungeon crawler deck building game.  Also, the video is super cheesy, sorry about that.

Gaming Paper Dry Erase Gaming Tiles (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gamingpaper/gaming-paper-dry-erase-gaming-tiles) (Funding ends March 19th) - If you want something to replace those large roll-up grid maps that people use to draw dungeons/whatever on, this is an option.  They're book sized tiles that work with wet and dry erase markers that can interlock with each other for larger play areas.

Grimslingers: The Northern Territory (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gbg/grimslingers-the-northern-territory?ref=recs_similar) A weird-western card dueling game for 2-6 players that doubles as an RPG-like, campaign driven, solo / co-op for 1-4 players.  While it is an expansion, you can get a copy of the core game either for an extra $29, or get a tier with it included.

Foundations 4: Rise of the Mimics (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613044699/foundations-4-rise-of-the-mimics) (Funding ends April 17th) - Are you tired of miniatures companies only ever giving you the option to buy mimics shaped like treasure chests?  Then this is the kickstarter for you, it includes regular objects and the mimic versions.  So far they have: treasure chests, books, treasure sacks, wooden barrels, sleeping bags, graves, and the unlocked stretch goal of cauldrons.

Call of Cthulhu Metal Dice Set by Q-workshop & Chaosium (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/q-workshop/call-of-cthulhu-metal-dice-set-by-q-workshop-and-c/) (Funding ends April 15th) - Q-workshop is well known for making quality dice, this kickstarter is for a Chaosium approved metal Call of Cthulhu themed dice set.  It's pricy but looks awesome, and more dice sets have been teased as stretch goals.

One more plug for Thunderstone Quest (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/alderac/thunderstone-quest-from-aeg/), it ends on the 24th.  The updates now include print and play rules as well as a demo video.  I've backed at $100 and you should too.

And also, a new one:

Paladin Card Protectors - Premium Sleeves for Gamers  (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nskngames/paladin-card-protectors-premium-sleeves-for-gamers/) (Funding ends April 13th) - Okay, in general card sleeves are card sleeves and I wasn't sold on this one being worth it.  However, a few things changed my mind.  First, you can get a six-pack of 55 card sleeves for $13 including shipping for anywhere in the world.  Second, each pack can be a different size.  Third, The sleeves are completely clear.  Fourth, watch this video (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nskngames/paladin-card-protectors-premium-sleeves-for-gamers/posts/1837582) to see how durable they are.

Last reminder for Grimslingers: The Northern Territory (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gbg/grimslingers-the-northern-territory/description) which has just over 1 day remaining, and every stretch goal is already unlocked!  $65 will get you all the cards ($50 for the tier with core + expansion, $10 for Advanced Duels, $5 for the card pack), or if you want all the goodies, $150 for the Super-Ultra bundle (which includes a $20 credit for shipping, any of which is unused will automatically go toward other add-ons), $29 for the core game (if you don't already have it), $15 for the resin Witch King figure, $10 for Advanced Duels.  I got the Super-Ultra bundle, and am adding the core game, advanced duels, and a 2nd card pack (to have more than enough light and dark cards to go stupid and have a 7+ player PvP duel game!)

Welcome to another round of "look at what I found"!

First up, I have to say that I am NOT recommending nor backing this.  I am laughing at it though.

Conspiracy Theory (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/847271320/conspiracy-theory) (Funding ends October 9th) - Do you remember how when Cards Against Humanity came out it was basically an adult version (but not an actual rip-off) or Apples to Apples?  (If not, look it up.  They're both good, and similar but with enough differences to not feel like one ripped off the other).  This is totally a rip-off of CAH.  I have to admit, I haven't liked anything Steve Jackson has put out in years.  Many many years.

Next up, we have something that I don't think will meet its goal but looks really cool.

DemoFist " World's most Unique ( Cast Iron ) Hammer " (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/168247561/demofist) (Funding ends October 5th) - Look at it.  It's like a kid's hulk fist toy made out of cast iron that you use for demolition.  How does it not have more backers?  The right-handed only model is probably dampening things a lot.

Okay, I never even look at the film section of Kickstarter so luckily their homepage pointed this third one out to me directly.

Miss Fisher the Movie (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/468758721/miss-fisher-the-movie) (Funding ends October 14th) - If you've already watched Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries then you're already at least as excited about this as I am (or at least you better be!).  For those who are unaware, read the Wikipedia synopsis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Fisher's_Murder_Mysteries).  We're already funded, but this show is amazing and it will be amazing as a movie.  They're also adding new reward tiers constantly.

Moving on to more in line with the theme of the boards, we have two games.  First, the video game.

The Cyanide & Happiness Adventure Game  (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/982292262/the-cyanide-and-happiness-adventure-game) (Funding ends October 5th) - I honestly don't think this needs an explanation, and if it does I'm not the one to give it.  Just go look.  Shoo.

Lastly, a more traditional RPG.

Numenera 2: Discovery and Destiny (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/montecookgames/numenera-2-discovery-and-destiny) (Funding ends October 27th) - This is more of a Numenera 1.5 than a full second edition, and I'm not big on rules-light games such as Numenera, but I know it's popular so here I am telling you about the kickstarter anyway.

Did you just give Reaper money for more miniatures than you'll ever need/paint?

Then you need The Hobby Holder - A Better Way to Paint Miniatures (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gameenvy/the-hobby-holder-a-better-way-to-paint-miniatures) (Funding ends November 1st).  This actually looks really cool, really comfortable, and I'm currently waiting to see if a spot clears up in an early bird pledge because I want more than one for no good reason at all.

But then for my money I have infinite diversity in infinite combination...   :cool

rather tough to pose most miniatures, not to mention changing up the outfit or weapon. and drawing with dry erase has it's own challenges and limitations.

(I actually have a dry erase table for my gaming, so I've done got the mat beat hands down.)

Here is a pocket pen (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ketalon/lanz-pen-the-finest-executive-edc-pen) (funding ends November 4th) that you should buy.

Do it.  Buy the pen.

I really want this pen.  It is attractive, pocket sized (only slightly larger than a fisher space pen which was my pocket pen for many years), and has a bolt action.  The clip can be removed, and it can take two kinds of ink refills.  You also get your choice of colors and can have different parts of the pen in different colors.  This guy has done two other successful pen kickstarters.

However, this pen doesn't have enough pledges to be successful right now.  You could change that.  Get the pen, get extra to give to your friends.

Do it.  Do it because you love me and want me to be happy.  I am on the search for an amazing pocket pen, and I think this might be it.  Don't you want me to have a great pen?

Take a look at these.

Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/smithsonian/smithsonian-anthology-of-hip-hop-and-rap) (Funding ends November 16th) - Yes, this is actually the Smithsonian museum.

Goblins Animated (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1369986283/goblins-animated) (Funding ends November 22nd) - An animated version of the amazing Goblins webcomic (http://goblinscomic.com/what-is-goblins).  An amazing voice cast is lined up.

Edit:  Also Zucati Dice: Perfect Plastic™ Dice (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zucati/zucati-dice-perfect-plastictm-dice) (Funding ends November 16th) - Cheap dice!  $5 for a single set, they're plastic but well made.

So there's a kickstarter for a new board game that plays a lot like the Alien movies, Nemesis (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/awakenrealms/nemesis-board-game?ref=14ci56).

Cooperative gameplay, with secret objectives so you might want to lie and/or betray other players to get ahead.  Main goal is to escape the space ship infested with "intruders", without getting infected.

Well this allows for more than 2 players and the aliens seem to auto-act. Plus I have a soft spot for betrayal mechanics.

Also Nemesis seems to have a countdown mechanic where the ship is gonna eventually jump to hyper space but the engines are damaged. You can repair the engines but then need to get to a stasis pod to actually survive the jump.

Girl Genius: The Works (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheapassgames/girl-genius-the-works) (Funding ends April 20th) - A Girl Genius strategy card game.  For some reason I feel like there is a market for this here.

Throne of Night is still unreleased. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/730004812/throne-of-night-a-pathfinder-rpg-adventure-path) There's talk of what will happen in April, as apparently there's a 5 year waiting period for people to start suing for unfinished projects. I was so close to backing it in 2013, but I'm so glad I didn't.

But let's look at some recently-released KickStarters:

Book of Passion: (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/962794554/the-book-of-passion-ogl-375-mature-audiences) A Book of Erotic Fantasy style sourcebook for Pathfinder is recently out.

The good news: It has a shitload of archetypes and spells which can be of use in non-porny types of games.

The bad news: I don't like the art style for most pics.

Midgard: Dark Roads and Deep Magic: (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/350683997/midgard-campaign-setting-dark-roads-and-deep-magic) A five-year time advance for Kobold Press' popular campaign setting. I have the (mostly) system-neutral World Book and the 3 system guides for it.

It's a really cool book, but in spite of the metaplot going forward not a lot has changed. Sure there's new art and rules, but a lot of nations are more or less the same. I still love the setting though, and it's probably on my Top 5 to try some day.

Book of Exalted Darkness: (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/verantheacodex/book-of-exalted-darkness-evil-for-the-5th-edition) If you're familiar with Way of the Wicked, this is pretty much an "evil campaign" save it's a whole setting rather than an Adventure Path and designed for 5th Edition. It's set in a 1920s art deco utopia where celestials and demigod heroes made a paradise on the Material Plane. But the PCs and a host of underground mad scientists seek to bring their shiny spires crashing down.

I read parts here and there. It's definitely got some neat ideas, although it feels like it's going too far to be edgy. There are rules for harvesting magic items out of not-Smurf faries, complete with a gruesome torture chamber illustration. And the sample adventure involves the PCs breaking into a school to kill two 13 year old simblings and carve demonic runes into their corpses.

Arcanis 5e: (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1418216834/arcanis-5e-rpg/updates) A 5th Edition D&D update on the Arcanis campaign setting. Didn't get much time to read it, but there's a fantasy counterpart Roman Empire vibe to it.

I try to let people know about kickstarters they might want to pledge for, linking people to stuff that already ended is less helpful.   :P

Miskatonic University: The Restricted Collection Board Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/448333182/miskatonic-university-the-restricted-collection-bo) (Funding ends May 8th) - Have you ever wished that you attended Miskatonic University instead of whatever normal boring university you attended?

Well for the low price of a single dollar, you could get a non-personalized pdf degree of a Bachelor of Arts in Medieval Metaphysics from Miskatonic University (suitable for printing and framing).

This is as official as it gets. (Also you could get a game.)

Vote Dog: A Pet Comics Collection (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/168734274/vote-dog-a-pet-comics-collection) (Funding ends June 21st) - A collection of pet focused comics by the creator of the Sam and Fuzzy webcomic.  Some of these have been shared across the internet without a source so you might see some familiar stuff and now you know where it came from.

Perfect Plastic: Dice Evolved (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zucati/perfect-plastic-dice-evolved) (Funding ends August 31st) - I posted about (and pledged for) a previous kickstarter from these guys.  Good quality inexpensive plastic dice, and they've made some improvements.  Also there are pretty colors this time!

Q WORKSHOP Top Drawer Dice (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/q-workshop/q-workshop-top-drawer-dice) (Funding ends September 13th) - More dice, but you've heard of this company before.

Machina Arcana ~ From Beyond (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/456615294/machina-arcana-from-beyond) (Funding ends September 27th) - This is the second edition of a board game that I kickstarted years ago that was destroyed in a flood.  It's a steampunk Lovecraftian world with non-linear scenarios, and is worth your time to check it out.  The campaign has lots of gameplay videos from all kinds of reviewers, a rulebook you can download to see how the game works, and way more information about what's going on than you ever thought you'd want to look at.  Go look at it.

Okay, this one is different from what I normally post about.  It's US/Canada only, it's expensive, and it's an expensive item from an unknown company that hasn't been finalized yet.

But I'm sharing it anyway, that should tell you something.

2nd Breakfast: An Affordable, Quality Board Game Table (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/woodedrealms/2nd-breakfast-an-affordable-quality-board-game-tab) (Funding ends October 4th)

I'm going to assume that you haven't been vaguely following these for years like I have so I'm going to give way more information than I normally do.  This isn't a quick blurb and done, this is me being a goddamn salesman.

As I'm sure you've might have noticed, there are a handful of companies that make "board game tables".  For those who aren't in the know, board game tables are tables with room specifically to play board games (or card games or rpgs, board game tables is just a catchy name).  The usually have inserts to put over the table to make it, you know, an actual table that you can use.  Also this means that you can save your game/puzzle/project under the inserts and it won't get messed up by guests/family/spilled drinks/whatnot.  They also are pretty damn expensive, custom ones start around a couple grand for a 3 foot x 5 foot table (that's the area of the gaming space, not the outer dimensions.

The 2nd Breakfast table isn't the only one currently on kickstarter, so this makes a comparison easier.

Let us look at The Jasper: A Board Gaming Table (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1296268806/the-jasper-a-board-gaming-table).  This table is by boardgametables.com, a well known and respected custom gaming table company who has run kickstarters before.  We (or at least I) know these people, they know what they're doing.  Normally this is who I would go after, they're also USA and Canada only.

For a 3 foot x 5 foot Jasper table we're look at $599 + shipping ($69 for the US).  This gets you the table (in your choice of 2 stains or unstained) and an insert playing mat (in your choice of the color they chose for you).  You want a topper to turn your Jasper into a regular table?  $299.  You want cup holders to attach to the sides of the table (that you have to find a place to stash when not using them)?  $14 each.  You can also get extra mats or "wings" (like toppers but with little walls to stop stuff from going under them).  Shipping is "only" $69 because you put the table together yourself (like IKEA).  Almost a grand isn't horrible as far as gaming tables go (because I want a table that can be used as a real table), but that's way more than I want to deal with when I bought my current kitchen table for a couple hundred bucks and the thing sits 8 when fully extended.

Now let's compare that with the 2nd Breakfast table.  I don't know shit about this company, but they had a display at PAX and are actually communicating with their backers so these look like real legitimate people who aren't trying to steal your money or give you something made out of plywood.

Here we have two tables, one with a (roughly) 2.5 foot x 4.25 foot play area, the other the "standard" 3 x 5.  The larger table (called XL) has slightly larger outer dimensions than the Jasper because the armrests/bezels around the play area are an inch wider on the 2nd Breakfast table.  The regular table is $500 + $150 shipping (early bird) and the XL is $599 + $250 shipping (early bird).  Either table can come in three heights (coffee table, regular table, bar height), four stains (plus unstained), four play mat colors (reversible), comes full assembled (thus the higher shipping), and includes cupholders, leaves, dice trays, and a bunch of other small stuff (including power outlets for your table).

Yes, shipping on the XL table is cheaper than the topper for the Jasper table to turn it into a regular table.  And who knows what it will cost to ship the topper for the Jasper, shipping on add-ons is currently unknown.

Honestly that's awesome but not my favorite part of this table.  Would you like to know my favorite part?  I don't care, I'm going to tell you anyway.

With the Jasper table you have to figure out where to store your cupholders/other side mounted accessories when you're not using them.  With the 2nd Breakfast tables that isn't an issue.  The skirt of the table moves, so when you want a regular table you just push all of the trays under the table and pull the skirt down to hide them.  Perfection.

You can also get matching chairs if that's your thing,

Inhuman Conditions: A Game of Cops and Robots (Funding ends October 11th) (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tommy-maranges/inhuman-conditions-a-game-of-cops-and-robots) - Remember in Bladerunner when Deckard uses a Voight-Kampff machine to figure out if Rachel is a replicant?  This is that as a party game.  Also, all print-and-play stretch goals have been confirmed that they'll be in the final printed game.

Encased — old school isometric turn-based RPG (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/darkcrystalgames/encased-old-school-isometic-turn-based-rpg) (Funding ends October 16th) - Pretty much what is says on the tin.  It definitely looks interesting.

The Edge: Dawnfall (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/awakenrealms/778898097?ref=576323&token=b8590446) 2nd kickstarter run, with updated rules, expansions, and the like.

It's a PvP faction asymmetrical war game, with now 7 different factions to choose from.  Each has 13 figures, and a deck of cards that you take 25 from to customize your army.  It also has 3 campaign stories, a solo campaign for one faction, and an expansion for an 8th faction.

The kickstarter hasn't officially launched yet, so you can set yourself to receive notification when it launches.  There's also a bonus figure that's free for anyone who backs within the first 24 hours, so if you're interested, take advantage of that!

I've been super lazy and not posting stuff that I want to share.

This time I have three.

Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/545820095/savage-worlds-adventure-edition) (Funding ends November 14th) - A new edition of Savage Worlds.  This one is pretty self-explanatory.

Supreme Leader: A Game of Politics, Diplomacy, and Treachery (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/226878402/supreme-leader-a-game-of-politics-diplomacy-and-tr) (Funding ends November 2nd) - This one is less self-explanatory.  It is a large player count game where everyone makes deals with each other to vote other people out (making them join the United Nations), and at the end everyone voted out votes to pick the winner out of the last two remaining players.  Plus cards and randomness.  It very much will need the right kind of group but looks like a good game.

CULT of CTHULHU: Ouija, planchette, candleholders & Tarot (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cthulhuproject/cult-of-cthulhu-ouija-planchette-candleholders-and) (Funding ends November 8th) - Cool Cthulhu themed stuff.

Everyone is John the RPG (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/435243061/everyone-is-john) (Funding ends March 18th) - I present to you the new updated version of Everyone is John.  It is an updated and expanded version of the Creative Commons licensed 1 page game that's been around forever (not done by the same person but it says it has his blessing).  Also you get free business card sized character sheets!

Necronomicon by Abdul Alhazred with Cthulhu pawns & Idol (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cthulhuproject/necronomicon-by-abdul-alhazred-with-cthulhu-pawns) (Funding ends March 14th) - A fun looking little card game by a creator who has done a bunch of good quality Lovecraftian kickstarters.

Thomas Orr, a church friend of mine, has a nearly-done Roguelike named Are You a Wizard (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/comatoseturtle/are-you-a-wizard).  A playable version for Windows, Mac, and Linux is downloadable via the Kickstarter page.  Extra funding goes toward upgrading the art and audio.

May you also find this game spiffy enough to financially back.

Tsukuyumi: Full Moon Down (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/152730994/tsukuyumi-full-moon-down/description) 1.1 update and now with minis!

For those who didn't see/back the original, it's an asymmetrical PvPvE board game, where each player picks a faction and works to control as much of the map as possible, as well as completing goals.  Each faction is very different from one another, and some are great counter-picks to others, though this does not guarantee victory.  The game is also diceless, it's all about the strength of your forces vs your opponent's, and which tactics you utilize.  There is also an addon for a cooperative mode, if that interests you.

I'm on the fence about this one but I'm going to post it because why not?

Cuttlefish Colors: A hobby paint line (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cephalopodstudios/cuttlefish-colors-a-hobby-paint-line) (Funding ends April 10th) - They're cheaper than Reaper paints, now have an update on what they look like, and are the same size as the reaper bottles with an agitator bead and everything.  On the other hand, these guys are bad at Kickstarter (though this is their first one and that doesn't necessarily mean that will translate at issues with the product or delivery).  I'll probably end up pledging, I have a lot of minis to paint and can always use more colors.

My Favorite TTRPG Valor is getting a Kickstarter for an adventure path: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/valorousgames/valor-best-in-class (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/valorousgames/valor-best-in-class)

They already reached funding for the adventure, and have a stretch goal for a program to build/generate characters/NPC at $4000

Can pick up the adventure and the base corebook in digital pdf format for $30, or physical copies for $55.
I have a copy of the corebook, which is a pretty decent quality hardback in full color. Definitely a fun system worth looking into.

D.E.I. - Divide Et Impera (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lmstudio/dei-divide-et-impera-0/description)  Another board game, this one set in the frozen future of London.  Players vie for resources, sending their gangs of scrappers to gather everything they can, in the hopes of getting good rewards from the Purebreds (basically the rich folk).

It's a campaign relaunch, as they decided to do a cheaper meeple tier, in addition to the plastic figurines one.  They also re-jiggered some of the rules, if you looked at the original KS.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/owlcatgames/pathfinder-wrath-of-the-righteous) (Funding ends March 11) - The people who did the Pathfinder Kingmaker video game are doing another Pathfinder adventure path video game kickstarter.  This one has already exceeded the amount of money that Kingmaker raised, the stretch goals are getting interesting.

THE COMPANY RPG (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/logandean/the-company-rpg) (Funding ends February 17) - Not much left in this one but it is an interesting looking pen and paper RPG that you could use to run SCP games in.  D10 dice pool system so not too terribly complicated to learn (from what I can tell).

I can't be interested in WotR because the source material is so much worse than Kingmaker's in pretty much every regard. First book is literally from the writer of Siege of Dragonspear.

edit: Announced they're creating new to the game archetypes for some classes as part of the next stretch goal. These should be in the game's directory as a PDF (since it's a legal requirement). Will they count as official content the same way those two classes did? The only one they've mentioned sounds like it could just be a variant Stygian Slayer with video game friendly spells, but it could not be.

Geneforge 1 (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/geneforge1/geneforge-1-mutagen) - Mutagen (Funding ends March 13) - This old game is getting a remaster.  I wonder if they'll be doing the rest too.

They're doing different stats based on gender. I expect many internet arguments.

Eiyuden Chronicle, a spiritual successor to the PlayStation 1 game Suikoden II (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g7rPPhkl-8) has a Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes) that ends in about 3 days from this post!  (That's August 28 or 29, 2020 depending on your time zone!)  The people working on Eiyuden Chronicle also worked on Suikoden, meaning they're well-versed in making this sort of game!

Suikoden is a party-based JRPG with army building/tactical battles, town/base building, and an expected playable cast of about 100 characters, but not all at the same time!

As of this writing, the Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes) is on stretch goals!  I've already backed it and I encourage you to back it too!  Let's make this the best JRPG yet!

(As an extra, ProJared (https://youtu.be/YD7oLSCjB2k) explains more about this project and his involvement with its announcement.)

Enjoy and thankee!

Bunny Party at Maple Valley (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/evansgames/bunny-party-at-maple-valley) (Funding ends February 11) - A very cutsey but also good looking board game with some depth.  Family friendly (if you couldn't tell from the name) but something I'd have fun playing with a group of just adults.

I'm going to attempt to revive this thread, let's see how it goes.  It's probably better than me spamming the Discord!

Today I backed Tesseract - A Cooperative Dice Manipulation Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/smirkanddagger/tesseract-a-cooperative-dice-manipulation-game) (Funding ends November 11) - It's a fully cooperative game (like Pandemic) and everyone can just flat out lose if you hit a rough patch (like Pandemic) but it actually looks like I'd enjoy it (unlike Pandemic).

I've also backed Pinebox Middle School & The Horror Companion Double Feature (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/545820095/pinebox-middle-school-and-the-horror-companion-double-feature) (Funding ends November 10) because I'm a sucker for Savage Worlds even though I never get to play it.

Other currently active kickstarters of note are Mutants & Masterminds Reprint Extravaganza and More! (http://) (Funding ends November 22) which is pretty much what it sounds like (specifically for M&M 3E books) and CANVAS: Finishing Touches (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/roadtoinfamy/canvas-finishing-touches) (Funding ends November 15), which is a game I like and enjoy but I'm not getting the expansion because I don't like lugging around multiple boxes for one game, if they come out with a big box then I might change my tune.

On November 1 Slay the Spire: The Board Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/contentiongames/slay-the-spire-the-board-game) goes live.  From all of developer communications about it on the BoardGameGeek page I'm very interested but will have to see what the campaign and pricing look like.

I almost forgot, there are also Monty Python's Cocurricular Mediaeval Reenactment Programme (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/exaltedfuneral/monty-pythons-cocurricular-mediaeval-reenactment-programme) (Funding ends November 18) and Cowboy Bebop - The Roleplaying Game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/manaprojectstudio/cowboy-bebop-the-roleplaying-game) (Funding ends November 16) if you want more weird obscure RPGs to never play (and then you can be like me, except I don't want these specific ones).
