D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Deathless + Beastland Ferocity = Immortality?
« on: August 30, 2016, 05:10:18 PM »
Hey guys,
So I'm playing a Pathfinder-only game. Is there a Pathfinder equivalent, preferably a spell, of Beastland Ferocity? Something that lets you ignore the dying condition or remain conscious while dying? Pathfinder has a fun spell, Deathless, which temporarily removes the bottom limit of your hit points, which could make for a fun combination. Thanks for the help.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Good class for 6 good stats? (in Pathfinder)
« on: August 24, 2016, 08:52:36 PM »
Specifically my stats are:

15
12
13
15
18
15

with +1 for level and +2 for racial at my discretion. Obviously some stats are better than others, so the question is really, "What class should I take where dumping anything is a bad idea, where all the abilities are useful for the features?" I now the essence of min-maxing is to avoid a situation like this altogether, but I enjoy a challenge. So when I say "good" class, I mean which class is most appropriate, even if in terms of trying to make broken or cheesy character's it's crap.

Thanks for the help guys!

I thought you were joking about marbles, but I guess it's a real thing, lol. They should include a banana peel in Ultimate Equipment.

Gaming Advice / Speed reduction
« on: February 11, 2015, 06:56:42 PM »
Hey Min-Maxers, I'm looking for all the effects in 3rd edition or Pathfinder that slow an enemy or where an enemy's speed is reduced. Thanks for the help!

So far, I've got:

MIC p64 Crystal of Energy Assault Greater [Cold Assault]: Speed is reduced by 10 ft to a minimum of 5 ft.
APG p128 Hobbling Attack: Skirmisher trick where speed is reduced by half for 1d4 rounds.

Well, I use gmail, but as I recall you don't really use it.

Roll20 has excellent tools, from posting and chatting to voice and video. There's almost not even a reason to use Myth-Weavers since Roll20 has introduced character sheets, though that does require a $4.99 monthly subscription. I'm going to look into whether there's a way that I could get a subscription and my players could use character sheets though. At some point, I will be running a game on Roll20, but I'm still running the preliminary Deicide campaign.

That's some insane cold. I haven't noticed adds.

I'm ready when you are.

[D&D 3.5] Ravenloft - Stumbling through the Mist / Re: Characters
« on: January 20, 2015, 01:49:11 AM »
So... dna1 invited me back into this game, so here's my new character. I promise he's not another backstabber. :blush

I got sick of my first character after finishing his build and wanted to kill him off, but Tyson had bigger plans for him. This new character I don't hate though, lol.

Just to show my cards, I'll admit he's a charismatic villain, so he's not your typical trustworthy character. But he is motivated to work with his party.

Gaming Advice / Item Crafting Rules Interpretation
« on: July 16, 2014, 06:41:01 PM »
Hello All,
For once I'm not asking for a specific rule or reference, because I know what the rule is, but it's incredibly vague. Please post your opinions (and arguments) on how the following rule should be interpreted:

"Multiple Similar Abilities: For items with multiple similar abilities that don't take up space on a character's body, use the following formula: Calculate the price of the single most costly ability, then add 75% of the value of the next most costly ability, plus 1/2 the value of any other abilities."

There's only one place where this rule is "clarified," and that's a Rules of the Game article:

"An item with multiple similar abilities costs much less than an item with multiple different abilities, so what's the difference? In this case, "similar" abilities are functions that draw from the same pool of charges, or that can't be used at the same time (or at least don't provide a great deal of extra benefit if they are used together), or all of the above. Sometimes, an item has powers that receive this similar abilities price reduction when the item's multiple powers work together to produce an overall effect, or when an item's powers must be activated separately, but that's fairly rare."

Skip Williams goes on to give the example of staffs, which obviously conform to the 100%, 75%, 50% rule. But we already know how staffs are priced. What I want to know is, if you were the DM of a game with an item crafter PC, what items would you discount for him (besides staffs) based on this rule? I can't really think of anything. Everything seems to me to qualify for the writer's definition of "different" (which can be found in the context of those references) rather than "similar."

Most particularly, I want to know what you think of the line "Sometimes, an item has powers that receive this similar abilities price reduction when the item's multiple powers work together to produce an overall effect." This is so subjective, it could apply to a heap of things. What would your interpretation as a DM be? Simply ignore that line?

Gaming Advice / Town Size and GP Limit
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:08:42 PM »
Hey guys,
I'm looking for something that lets a character treat a town as a larger size category for the purpose of its GP limit and purchasing items. Awhile ago I thought I found more than one option, but all I've found is Resourceful Buyer (and yes I know it doesn't stack, don't worry about that). Wanderer's Diplomacy is not what I'm looking for btw. What I'm looking for might be a feat, spell, class, idr. Thanks for the help guys!

Vian also jumps up from behind the wall, yelling at the top of his lungs.

As soon as Vian notices the horsemen, he ducks bellow the parapet and motions everyone else to do the same. The idea suddenly struck him that it would be to their advantage if the enemy underestimated them. "Comrades, perhaps we don't have the skills to make traps for an ambush, but we may still catch our enemy off guard if our numbers are a surprise to them. Perhaps we should not let ourselves be seen, except Svetlana and Oleg."

"Acacius! It is great to see you. I was just on my way out to fetch some water, but now we must talk. It is good seeing you, and we could certainly use your help. It doesn't sound like your exploration is in any hurry? If you could tarry here and help us now, we could help you later, as we too intend to explore, and hopefully tame, the Greenbelt. First, however, this lady and her husband are in need of our help for they are being extorted by wild men. Can you spare yourself?"

Hey guys,
cantankerouspedant has intertwined his and my character's backgrounds, which is alright with me. This will hopefully speed along party formation.

Hey guys, I know this game is flat-lining, but I figured I'd give it one last effort. I've told an IRL friend that he could join the game if he could complete his character in a day. So me and him are working on his character and should be done by today. His username is going to be cantankerouspedant.

@Smileybastard: Sorry, this must be the question you wanted answered, I think the reason nobody answered it is because the answer is unknown. Members of House Rogarvia shouldn't really be played anyways though because they disappeared; otherwise there would be an heir to the throne and no contest between Rostland and Issia.

I think at this point we're waiting for the DM to inform us on the relative success of our actions, right?

After getting some barrels from Svetlana for himself and his horse, Vian set out for the nearest watercourse.
