You will need social skills in this, trust me. Dark Heresy is very investigation based and there will be multiple factions to support or make enemies of based on how you deal with them.

How much do you have left to spend on gear? If you're playing a scum, they have some fun spy stuff in the radical's handbook in chapter 4.
I personally enjoy the aerial pinions from the inquisitor's handbook as they let you get around spider man style. You could get some translator implants if you want to listen in on people's private conversations in other languages. Anyone desiring to be a sneaky bastard can't go wrong with a cameleoline cloak. It's always good to have an auspex and a multikey rarely goes amiss, same with lascutters and stummers, but those are all basics and relatively cheap. Other than that, you can always blow money on armor and weapons - if you're a scum then you could do worse than to get some of the compact concealable weapons. Also, tremendous fun can be had with melta gel.

Is an Auspex always on or is it like a modern metal detector, something you have to hold in your hand and use?

@Nanshork: Translator implants are in the radical's handbook in the chapter on xenos. An auspex is something you hold and have to actively use, I guess a metal detector is a decent analogy, though an auspex scans for all kinds of things.
@ dna1: How much cash you got left? For 2000 thrones you can rig carapace armor to shock the hell out of anyone who hits you in melee. For 500 you can get a melee weapon sanctified in order to screw over any demons you fight. If you can learn the pilot (personal) skill then a jump pack might be a good investment. If you want to enhance your investigative abilities then the spy gear from chapter 4 of the radical's handbook would be nice. 500 thrones for a remote control cockroach with an inbuilt listening device? That's a bargain damn it! Finally, let me reiterate my enjoyment of melta gel. Fuck walls.

I wasn't planning to visit the chapel, I'm a tech-priest so they'd probably try to set me on fire for walking in.
Our inquisitor should have provided us with some means of communication, so I was going to try to find the data vaults and get us some accurate, up to date info on the space station.
