Animal Companion List

I'm doing some re-vamping of the Druid Handbook, and one of the things I'm trying to do is put together a complete list of Animal Companions.  So far, I have most of the normal sources covered, but going through every splatbook and Dragon mag is slow going :p  So I was hoping that I could get some input from other people =)  So if you know any animal companions not covered by the list (except for the PHB aquatic companions - that section is still in-progress), if you could point me to the source, that would be great!

I've never run a totally (or even mostly) aquatic adventure, so it's taking longer to evaluate the aquatic companions.  That said, outside of the PHB list and page 50 of Stormwrack, I haven't come across any other aquatic companions, so if you know of others, I'm all ears =)

I am sure I have seen some more scattered through the monster manuals... Ill have a look if i can find any for you.

Sea Tiger (MM3 p147)

Sailsnakes are a (non Aquatic) animal companion you seem to have missed. Monster Manual 4 page 125. Notably they can only be taken at level 4 or higher but are missing the normal text for reduced effective animal companion level. With flyby attack and a breath weapon they could be quite interesting.

I'd love to finally see the watch spider get a mention in a druid handbook. If for no other reason than it's a magical beast and not an animal that you can take with no special prerequisites.


And I've seen a plant companion in a Dragon Magazine that you can customize as you level. I think it was in 357.

Vizzerdrix, where is the watch spider located?  I'm not familiar with that one.

I'm going to assume that is Forgotten Realms: City of the Spider Queen.  Not positive, however.

A few omissions that stand out not seeing are the Tressym (flying 12 Int cat thing from FRCS, permitted by Sandstorm), the various vermin companions (the giant bee and small monstrous spider are pretty cool at low levels) and Roc (also permitted by Sandstorm).

I had a preliminary list over here (end of the post), which might help. But this thread is showing that it's definitely not complete.
