Min/Max 3.x / Give me advice on an encounter "Oozing" with fun!!!
« on: December 07, 2015, 02:50:33 PM »
So I'm building an encounter with a likely theme of Bioscience or fleshwarping, and I was thinking of throwing out against the party two oozes, alongside a "Boss" encounter which is basically a wizard with the Ooze type given to them for 1 CR.

This is against a three person level 6 gestalt party. Anyone have any advice on what kind of ooze to use?

So I have heard the argument that an ardent with magic mantle can use the "treat Psionics and Magic the same" wording in the mantle to qualify for arcane spellcasting prestige classes.

If this is actually true, and I understand how dubious the wording is to even allow it if it works at all, what would be some good Prestige classes for a Psionic Class?

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / What's good in Dragon Magazine for Rogues?
« on: November 01, 2015, 05:14:52 PM »
So I'm making aa gestalt inquisitor/rogue character for an upcoming 3.P game and I was wondering what Dragon Magazine had to offer to rogue within its many issues.

If anyone can share the useful bits I would be immensely grateful.  :love :p

So I had an idea of re fluffing the Warforged race as a Frankenstein's monster. What from 3.5 or pathfinder do you guys think will help "flesh out" this character concept?

So from  past experience in a current campaign, I have had to deal with a decent amount of negative levels. I think I have received like about 8 negative levels in the past two or three sessions and my character is only level 6. thankfully 5 were on a separate occasion so the character didn't die. So it brings me to my question:

What Items, preferably cheap consumables can be used to deal with negative levels?

Also the character is a natural weapon user and I feel like I need to have something to deal with incorporeal creatures, so that would be nice too.

Any help is appreciated. :D

Min/Max 3.x / I got lots of health and I want to abuse it.
« on: May 12, 2015, 10:45:36 AM »
So I have a character in a campaign that will end up with a bunch of temporary HP, Fast healing, a steady source of in combat healing and a large constitution score.

So I was wondering if there was anything other than the divine sacrifice spell, the blade of blood spell, or the bands of blood rage, that would let me spend my HP like a resource for a nice benefit.

When starting an inspired rage, the skald chooses which rage powers (if any) to add to the song, and all affected allies gain the benefit of these rage powers, using the skald’s level as their effective barbarian level. The skald uses his skald level as his barbarian level for the purpose of selecting rage powers that require a minimum barbarian level. If the rage power’s effects depend on the skald’s ability modifier (such as lesser spirit totemAPG), affected allies use the skald’s ability modifier instead of their own for the purposes of this effect.

Celestial Totem, Lesser (Su) (Champions of Purity pg. 22 (Amazon)): While raging, the barbarian benefits from increased magical healing. Whenever she is subject to a spell that cures hit point damage, she heals 1 additional point of damage per caster level. In the case of non-spell healing effects (such as channeled energy or lay on hands), she heals a number of additional points equal to the class level of the character performing the magical healing. This does not affect fast healing or regeneration.

Path of Glory

School conjuration (healing); Level bard 2, cleric 2

CASTING:
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S

EFFECT:
Range touch (see text)
Area four 5-ft. squares/level (see text)
Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance no

DESCRIPTION:
You cause four 5-foot squares (one of which must be your space) to glow with dim illumination. Starting on your next turn, as a swift action you can extend the glowing area by an additional four 5-foot squares; each new square must be adjacent to a square that was previously glowing. Allies that end their turns on a glowing square (including one who falls unconscious in the square) are healed of 1 point of damage.

So a quick rundown of this combo:

The skald through their class feature called raging song, can grant their rage powers to allies.
Since said skald has Celestial Totem, He grants it to his allies and whenever they are subject to a spell that heals HP they add the skalds level to the HP healed. And since Path of Glory heals 1 HP whenever an ally ends their turn on a square affected by the spell, it effectively beocomes level +1 HP healed a turn.

Is there any spell in 3.5 that could use this combo to better effect, preferably on the Bard spell list since that is what the Skald employs?

Is there anything that increases the monks fast movement ability?

Just wondering if there is anything that will increase it other than levels of monk.

For this purpose I am looking for increases to fast movement specifically.

Hello everyone, recently I have gained a fondness for Pathfinders Skald Class, which is a hybrid between Bard and Barbarian.

I have experimented with various builds and concepts over the last few months, while also looking at things other people have managed to pull off with the class.

And it is at this point that I have a strange itch to attempt a handbook for the class.

As far as I can tell, there is only one Skald guide in existence at the moment. It was created right after the class was releases and I don't believe it has been updated since.
Unfortunately, it is not as detailed as I would like and would like and I would like to share my thoughts on the class on a comprehensive level.

Right now, I don't know when I will get the time to actually write the darn thing, I work at a  movie theater and this is the busy time of the year for me.

But right now I am open to suggestions on a theme for the guide. I am honestly kinda stumped on what I could use for a good theme for the class.

So if anyone wants to offer sugfestions feel free and know I greatly appreciate the input!!!!  :love

So I'm working on a campaign set on the plane of Ravnica from Magic the Gathering.

At one point, the PCs will have to go explore one of the underground oceans of the setting.

I have yet to set into stone what I will do for this chapter of the campaign because I was wondering a few things.

1: At what level does adventuring underwater become trivial?

2: At what level does adventuring underwater become feasible while remaining challenging?

3:What are the methods PCs use to adventure underwater and what methods make the idea trivial?

Gaming Advice / getting full-attack with splash weapons
« on: February 05, 2015, 11:41:08 AM »
So what are the ways to get a full attack off with splash weapons?
I know you can use quick draw to grab them but I was wondering if there was some kind of easy access storage space or something that would not be too dangerous to the character.

I think my problem is, if I can full attack with splash weapons, where is my character getting them from on his person?

Min/Max 3.x / getting the most bonuses against larger enemies
« on: January 15, 2015, 10:56:21 PM »
So say I want to make a character whose concept is a giantslayer, what class features or feats, and such give you bonuses against someone larger than you are?
I'm not looking for something against a specific enemy larger than I am,  I want the bonuses to apply to as many enemies as possible.
Any help is appreciated. And anything that gives you a bonus against someone larger than you is the goal. Although I prefer anything that boosts to-hit and damage. Cause I want to hit them harder than they will ever expect. ;p

Frostbite
Source Ultimate Magic pg. 1 (Amazon)
School transmutation [cold]; Level bloodrager 1, druid 1, hunter 1, magus 1, shaman 1, witch 1
Casting
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Effect
Range touch
Targets creature touched
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw none; Spell Resistance yes
Description
Your melee touch attack deals 1d6 points of nonlethal cold damage + 1 point per level, and the target is fatigued. The fatigued condition ends when the target recovers from the nonlethal damage. This spell cannot make a creature exhausted even if it is already fatigued. You can use this melee touch attack up to one time per level.

So guys, help a fella out. Is there any way to get this spell to trigger the fatigue on an enemy that is immune to nonlethal damage?
I can get away with energy substitution for the cold damage part.

3.5 and Pathfinder are welcome. My DM allows both in his campaigns.

Gaming Advice / Can you use decisive strike on a charge?
« on: January 06, 2015, 08:36:34 PM »
My DM needs help clarifying something. He is confused because the grand ol' Internet is telling him that a Monk with the Decisive strike alternate class feature can use it on a charge. If anyone can provide input on this then it will be greatly appreciated.

« on: December 28, 2014, 11:19:51 PM »
So I was wondering if anyone knew of any way to increase a Morale bonus in 3.5.
I'm playing a Pathfinder Skald with 3.5 allowed in a game and was wondering if there was anything to boost specifically morale bonuses.
Thanks for any help you offer. :D

Gaming Advice / How many nonabilities can you get onto one creature?
« on: August 07, 2014, 04:50:47 PM »
So how many nonabilities can can you get onto a single creature?
Is there some weird combination of templates and monsters that will remove most of a creatures stats as being relevant?

Such as an incorporeal undead swarm perhaps?

Gaming Advice / Beast master and Mammoth Rider Prestige class questions.
« on: August 03, 2014, 09:34:25 PM »
So what would happen if one were to take a level of Mammoth Rider from Pathfinder and Levels of Beast master from Complete Adventurer? Would all of the Beast master's Companions become Huge or just one?

Beastmaster http://dndtools.eu/classes/beastmaster/

Mammoth Rider http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/pres.../mammoth-rider

Also, if anyone knows of other ways to get multiple Animal Companions it would be much appreciated.

Gaming Advice / Orc/Hag Hybrid?
« on: July 06, 2014, 03:55:07 PM »
A fellow DM has been looking for what he believes is a monster that is the offspring of an Orc and a Hag.
Does such a creature exist and where is it?
