Morte makes a mental note to create a gold membership for their group if there isn't one already.

I'm not sure what that would entail. Maybe gold members aren't yelled at by our customers, the sheriff, and the religious fanatics.

Is the doctor aware of the magic that I used in the fight?

"What's your going rate?"

Is the doctor in the room with him currently? Elizabeth wasn't planning on consulting him on this.

Elizabeth puts her forehead in her hand.

"It's a fair question, but there's no real way to prove this without waiting until its far too late. If even one of those things survives in the town, this problem will get much worse.

How I 'know' is by looking at the evidence, and comparing it to the esoteric tomes I've found and studied. Sure, individually, they look like collections of mythology, but collectively, they do a far better job of explaining things not understood than anything else. And while you might question the veracity of such texts, I ask you, 'How did I learn to conjure purple fire or turn into a hawk if these books are just rubbish?'

We need to act, and I think the best route is to smother him, take him out of the town, and burn him. I'll be the one to kill him, but I'll need a few people to help me carry him out, build the fire, and corroborate the story. Also, we'll need to go out of the town in force. We need to assume we could be attacked any time we're out, and the fire might attract the 'mother'."

"Morte! We're burnin up all the treasure! Maybe pull the chickens out?"

Elizabeth quickly calls a meeting with her most trusted men.

"Some spider-like monster let him go because she laid eggs in him. There's nothing we can do to save him, and he's only going to get worse until he painfully dies when they hatch. We need to kill him and burn the body, but the mother will likely know and come for revenge.

Still, it needs to happen. I'm trying to think of how to spin this to the town. If I tell them we need to kill him to stop a monster infestation, they'll either panic or decide to burn me at the stake. I could maybe argue about him having a plague and being contagious. That might be the best way to go.

I'm thinking we quietly end his suffering here, say he expired due to an infection, and that he shows signs of being contagious, so we need to cremate him out of town."

What is the building made out of? I thought it was all stone.

"What's inside of him?"

Sense Motive = 1d20+10
Rolled 1d20+10 : 3 + 10, total 13

"...or not. These guys are fighters!"

Does the fire keep burning, or does it go out after a while? Mustave wants to peek in if the flames burn down.

She's hoping the winter makes food scarce enough to hurt their numbers.

After she heads back, she lets the lieutenants know what she saw. She checks on the condition of the returned hunter. She checks on the prisoner.

"Poor little guys. Working for Morte might be some small mercy..."  :(

"Resources are short, and, as you said: there was no will or living relatives. We can use them for food and the manure to help with producing more powder."

We'll want to make sure we don't keep them too far on the outskirts, where they might get attacked by trogs.

If the next day is still, Elizabeth wants to scout the surrounding area as a hawk. She wants to look for any more hunters, to see if any trogs are out (or if they're alive at the cave), and just is looking for anything else.

Can we see what's through the door? How far out are we?

Lets take them back, then check on the state of the returned hunter from the day before.

"Good thinking! You could animate the chickens and use them again if they die..."

It's going to be hard to find things by tracks, and dead bodies might be buried, but Elizabeth should head out with a group to look for survivors.

She'll see if she or the doctor can get him to regain consciousness over the next few days. Strip him and try to get him warmed up in a bath. Does she see anything else unusual on him, other than the puncture wound?

How is the weather the next morning?

"spider-like being" is a reoccurring theme from things Elizabeth has found. She has the man moved to a warm location and tried to get him hydrated, if at all possible.

From which direction did he come? Elizabeth cannot go out now, in bad conditions.

any thoughts on how we wanna handle dice till the roller is fixed?
We can always give you the dice and mods, and you do the rolls for us, or you can trust us. I'm fine either way. When I run PbPs, I tell everyone they can roll, and they just have me do it, anyway. :p
