Ambuscade?  Nope.  I haven't seen it.
It's possible something similar is buried
within a Monster entry somewhere, idk.

Vedalken are x2 height Gnomes (wink).
The +d4 is the rolled proficiency thingy
elsewhere, but frozen at lowest tier.
They've effectively got Double Prof early.
Restricted to 1 of the 6 specific skills.
Good enough for any number of builds.
Tools expansion in XGE are a must.

Saw something new today.
A truck was going down the road backwards.
I thought it was being towed, with a warning light spinning.
Got closer = nope.

The "truck" front half was being driven backwards intentionally.
The "back" trailer half was instead a bigger than standard Backhoe.
It's like they (literally) glued the 2 halves together, cutting out
the pickup bed of the truck, and the running gear of the backhoe.

<-- "truck+trailer" , "gear+backhoe" -->
<--- "Truck + Backhoe" --->

It's like the Theurge of work vehicles.
:o who woulda thunk that John Deere was bot watching ye old C.O. board

They do have counting that does work like that,
like spellcasting, a 1/2 level + 2 * 1/3 level = 1
and can go up from there.

But I can see the problem, say with FiChamp 7
where 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 , but with all three abilities
it'd go 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 with the cap.

They handle skill expertise just fine.
The various wordings can be tighter to more clearly
indicate which counting style they're using.
Perhaps I'm asking for too specific a granularity.

hmm I didn't anticipate that.
I was thinking more like Barb AC and Monk AC overlap / not stack.

I can see your post working on set theory along the lines of :
No Prof = zero, and Yes Prof = any number greater than zero.
Or working linguistically as :
adjective noun vs "no adjective" noun , doesn't matter, the noun is the noun.

I'd argue that :  half+half=whole , is simpler.

Congrats  :clap big life event change.

How long til you can say :  "Take off , eh?"  , with the proper accent?

Toyota Highlander Hybrid 4x4 gets 25mpg almost all the time.
Ford Escape Hybrid 4x4 gets near 28 mpg and New York taxis got 300k miles out of them.
Cuts your gas expense in half other 4x4s.
Worth overpaying for Low Miles (yeah yeah I know its kilometers + too much math this early)
... because no one does the math on car expenses right especially someone unloading a low miles hybrid.

Does this mean you'll have to post in translated Canadian next time?

Yep that's it , thanks.

hmm does Kefnet's Blessing stack or overlap with Bard's Jack of all Trades ?
If it stacks , a Wiz Abjure 7 / Bard 2 gets a nice boost.

The Heron is growing rapidly, Before long he'll be big enough to poop like a man ... <snip>

And ouch.

I had a violent sneezing fit on Saturday.  Wrenched the hell out of my neck and back.  Bad enough to have more trouble sleeping than usual.  Still hurts like a Mothra-fracker.

From sneezing.

You're in good company :  Billy Crystal , Me , and Sammy Sosa who was on 'Roids at 235 at the time (106 kg + all time homerun hitter).
Get well soon.
Chiropractic might help.

Aven on page 6 , might be (idk) a bit different from ps:amonkhet.

Keldon Human on page 19 are not like other humans.
+2 Str , +1 Con , Athletics , Str save prof , cold adapted
... could shore up grapple Rogues + Bards.

That all totally blows chunks  :p

I "finished" changing my oil ... after too many stabs at it.
Turns out what I was doing wrong was too long to detail.
The emission controls that replaced the old PCV valve, were
creating a vacuum that required an impact wrench to loosen.
And rebooting the software.  Which wasn't in :
the owners manual , the Chiltons manual , or the shop manual.
It was buried in a tsb, buried in a pdf, buried in the shop web site.

so far as they can tell its just bruising.  they did bloodwork, chest and feet x-rays and an ekg and al came back ok

Ouch. Hope it passes.

... or ... could be an omen for your next batch of homebrew (Blackfeet are a thing).

D&D 5e / Re: Unearthed Arcana: Eberron Demo
« on: July 23, 2018, 04:33:01 PM »
For comparison, some changes from the '05 original 1st UA Eberron races :

Shifter's Change Appearance can ditch the Friends cantrip in morpho-social situations.

Kalashtar Druid loves the telepathy for Wildshape
Dual Mind is fab for any defenses first build.

Shifter Wildhunt Mark The Scent = a just get me close for a tag, then retreat, lick wounds, power up, go get it.

Warforged Wizards are very happy with the AC.
Sorlock chez is now corner case re-incarnated (obligatory don't do this to homegame warning yawn).
Envoy special design example of "Lute" = perma hidden Bard M component/focus.

Lots of versatility overall.

edit --- looks like they'll release more bit by bit

Some people really are :  Bad To The Bone.

There is at least 1 obscure undead that is the product of a pregnancy gone wrong.
I don't remember which, just fluff on speed-read not mechanics.
One of the writers musta had a bad weekend with the girlfriend.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: Appraise , what-can-you-do-with
« on: June 29, 2018, 04:04:16 PM »
 :twitch ... that's near brilliant.

The fluff is horrible ( it almost goes without saying ).

The thing that could turn a CR X monster into a slave = CR of X + something?
The poor Urban Savant has to wait so long to get it's metagame-y abilities.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: [Psionics] Ability Burn.
« on: June 23, 2018, 03:36:25 PM »
OK so lets say you have 15s in Str Dex + Con.
And you Burn them down to 1s each.
14*2=28 ppoints = 4 festings of level 4 powers.
That's not too bad, painful but at least effective.

Call that your : "If I can just get through today" mode.
But you're basically helpless at the end of that.
If you go Warforged and use Control Object 1
you'd get Int as your melee stat for a total emergency.
Vigor 1 to rebump your hit points up vs ultra low Con.

And you can always ping Mind Thrust with Overchannel.
That gives you 4 modes for 4 combats :
b) ... iffy Psion but functional
a) ... Psion with a slight Nova
c) ... ping your last normal ppoints
d) ... Burning down your house

Call it tier 1-ish for A depending on load out,
tier 3 for B , tier 5 for C , and staring your doom in it's face.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: [Psionics] Ability Burn.
« on: June 22, 2018, 04:36:10 PM »
hmm , well ...

There were lots of tries at tricking up the Ability Burn part.
But for all the noise, there isn't much you can do with it.

However a deep dumpster dive for very specific improvements
to "Natural Healing" , might yield some something-or-another.
I don't recall off hand anyone doing that = new territory.

Psi of course has other ways of boosting Power Points,
including trying Psion over PsyWar, or any style of recharge.

What type of class or build were you thinking about ??

D&D 5e / Re: Undead Character options
« on: June 18, 2018, 06:16:26 PM »
Fighter 1 is a decent dip for anyone, more so you.

iirc the earliest Fighter Eldritch Knight handbooks
talk about Not using Int, as a workable possibility.

Leugren's list of spells got saved from the wotc collapse.
This one --->
and the one below it, don't require Int as much as other spells.
Rituals work too of course.

It may take a few more levels of Wizard to get a better
balance of spells, given your undead-y-ness.

D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder / Re: Appraise , what-can-you-do-with

bump for daremetoidareyo(u) @ giantitp!-A-reference-for-the-Appraise-skill

Maybe a few you don't have just yet.
I'm absolutely sure CaptnQ will have something or another in his EVD.

yeah, Woodling is the easier version of the template I was aiming for. Kin'O' the Green from Bastion Press's Alchemy and Herbalist.  that template has 3 stages and at the end the character is a treant. ...

You could replicate the 3 stages by taking the Woodling LA+2 ~penalty earlier than ECL 8
then doing the first LA buy-off at level 8, and finishing the la buy-off at ECL 10.
But it's complicated exp math along the way = enough room to give trouble to inexperienced
players and experienced players who have a hard time with that math anyway.

If you can negotiate with the DM, take Woodling when the party reaches level 7.
Immediately do the first la buy-off, so you are 6 class levels + 1LA = you're the same
level as the rest of the party. Then do the second buy-off as normal, with various degrees
of ignoring the math weirdness from level 10 on up, you and your DM and the party all.
Do note:  this is doing the first one a level early and the 2nd one rather sloppy.
Hence negotiate.

...The party is large 6 people, no idea on there characters.

I only know one is going Vassal of Bahamut ...

While a Druid-druid is fun and all, with the Tier 1 coDzilla snorty roarty ...
I'd bet most of your group (and DM) aren't necessarily looking to wreck all things.

Knee-capping a Druid might just bring it in line with the whole group.
Druid 5 + Totemist 2 in whatever order / Woodling with my 2nd example / Holt Warden X
almost certainly drops you down to Tier 3-ish and you still may have to pull punches.
No natural spell feat (I grate my teeth just writing that).
Greenbound summoning feat fits your fluff and
helps with the not going straight druid wreck face.
Have to stick with no in-combat healing routine though.
Scroll of Cure Light Wounds could be available or crafted = more than enough.
