Unnamed Dice Boardgame - Help!

This is supposed to be a quick and fun boardgame that simulates an abstract battle.

(click to show/hide)

This is the idea:

There are four areas the BBEG must be bested in: Melee, Magic, Missile and Mundane. There are also four modifiers: Entropic, Immediate, Resilient and Resistant. There are 24 different combinations (no repetition, order matters), so I have created 24 OOTS-themed (easy to find goofy avatars) cards; these will be the BBEG cards.

Each player receives an amount of colored dice (red, yellow, green and blue), rolls them and keeps the results.

Now it's where it gets messy: players taking turns place their dice (one at a time) on one of the four categories, but before they place dice, they have to 'unlock' them, meaning that they have to put a die on the relevant space on the BBEG card. If you place a die in a category where the dice sum up to 7, then you score a 'hit', take one victory point and discard the dice.

Now, this is a poorly thought scoring mechanism and I'm looking to replace it. Ideas?
