The first bite of your sword deals a terrible wound to the troll, nearly knocking it to the ground, and your follow-up cut slices its head clean off before it has a chance to react.  Both the head and your blade leak dark, nearly black blood onto the ground.

Skulda prepares to launch a Fireball if any more trolls show up (centered at the back of the visible tunnel, so it will go around the corner also), and orders Thane to move up and attack.

The snow leopard deftly darts around Skulda's new companions and sinks his teeth into the leg of the second troll that Thorgrim knocked down.  The cat's teeth must have hit an artery, as dark blood begins spurting out from the bite wound, and the troll stops trying to get up.

Agni curses at the troll knocked prone right in his face, performs an agile leap to his left and swings his guisarme towards the fallen foe, all the while searching for any vulnerable places to strike.

Bjartr sprints to the left, drawing a javelin from the case on his back.  He gets a clear line toward his target and hurls the throwing spear at the troll still hiding in the cave.  His left-leaning run turns his body and shortens the stroke of his throw, and the spear clatters against stone before falling to the ground.

"Yes, like old times. That troll was shouting to someone, so there must be more. Shall we wait for them or take the fight to them?" he asks Einar. While the battle lust called him, he had enough sense to know it was reckless to charge headlong into the darkness...if he went, he would need Einar's light or else he would likely find his fang biting empty air. And those mushrooms didn't look too inviting either...

He listened while he spoke, seeing if something wicked this way comes.

"Take care, for these are not mere trolls. These are called Tanarukk and are the result of breeding among trolls, fiends and humans. And of course, as wicked and evil as any of the three races mixed in their bloodlines..."

Hymir shouts with enthusiasm. Tales will be told of our strength my friends! I'm sure even now the Valkyrie's are singing songs of your ferocity to the great all-father. Lets not waste an opportunity to impress the gods. I say we bring our blades to the trolls, and send them to Niflheim where they belong!

Your hesitation gives the tanarukk all the excuse he needed; he turns and flees back into the cave.  You can hear the muttering voices of several more from within the dark depths.  As if in counterpoint to the deep, rough voices, an occasional high-pitched yelp escapes the darkness.

The party regroups and forges ahead together, Thorgrim in the lead with Einar's shining blade right behind him.  There are a few bends and turns in the passage before the tunnel opens up just a bit, then narrows again.  The cave turns slightly to the right, then a bit to the left.  As Thorgrim's vision clears that last turn, he can see light reflecting off of a natural stone wall ahead, though his field of vision is still quite restricted.

Bjartr pulls out his handy Everburning Torch and tucks the wooden shaft behind his belt.  The thought of the looks people give him when they see him do that brings a wry smile to his face. No time for errant thoughts... he thinks to himself.

Skulda follows the others in, but also speaks a word in elvish. You'd noticed earlier that she wears a pair of black gloves which are dotted with small sparkling lights, much like stars in the night sky. At her command, these pinpoints brighten and her gloves soon are giving off as much light as a lantern. She also speaks the same word while touching a small stone, and it too begins to glow. She takes the stone and hands it to the raven on her shoulder, which flies off ahead of the party and into the cave.

Thorgrim spots several enemies from both sides and lets out a heavy grunt*, his hands gripping his fang more firmly than ever as he feels a small burst of strength flow through his arms.. He picks out a spot where he can clearly see both directions and readies himself to defend that spot with his life, his back safely against two walls.
"They come from both sides. But I am Thorgrim; I will knock them all down."

Skulda's raven flies forward with the glowing pebble in its beak.  Her attention diverts to the raven's eyesight as it swoops in amongst the tanarukk.  It gets a quick look to the right, through a narrow crevice a tanarukk is stepping through to join his companions, and seeing a bit beyond.  It turns its eyes forward and can only glimpse what more lay ahead before it has to dodge a battleaxe.  The second tanarukk's axe was not dodged, however, and Skulda's raven vision goes blank as a small cut-off "caw" is heard throughout the cave.

Thorgrim moves forward to take up a defensive position, but two of the tanarukk seemed ready to deal with any intruders.  As Thorgrim continues forward, the two closest tanarukk both step forward quickly and slice at him with their axes, both striking flesh.  The one to his left also deals Thorgrim a parting blow as he continues up toward the wall.

Skulda, alarmed at how many enemies she saw in her brief glimpse through the bird's eyes, says "Thorgrim! You're too far in! You'll be surrounded!"

Einar laughs as he moves to flank one of the trolls with Thorgrim.  "I'm sure he likes it that way!"  He then aims a blow at the troll's back, putting all of his strength into it.

Hymir just barely sees Einar's blade bite deep into the creature's shoulder, going so far as to sever major vessels in the base of its neck.  It slumps to the ground with a guttural whine, and dark arterial spray mists the air with a foul odor.  Hymir cannot see Thorgrim, but he can see the warrior's pole arm swinging about on the other side of the turn in the stone passageway.

((ooc: Moving up to GG-24. Casting a spell on, and having my badger attack the beasty @ EE-21

Hymir advances through the tunnel up closer to his friend Einar. When he saw the Troll to the left side of the cave, he sent his faithful companion Valtamr the badger, to rend it into unlife.
At the same time Hymir started call upon the magic within himself. Through concentration and sheer will alone, something started to manifest in the air. He rubs his middle finger across his thumb like a bow against a fiddle, while simultaneously humming a discordant tune under his breath. Over the Troll, you see a translucent bone-white fiddle bow appear and sink into the flesh of the target. It begins sawing, as if playing the Troll like a fiddle.

The badger moves into position, but isn't fast enough to snatch a bite at the demon-blooded troll.  As the badger's movement comes to a rest, the tanarukk begins howling in agony as the Fossergrim's instrument* rattles its bones, rupturing organs with its vibrations.

Skulda says "Thane, Kill!" and directs it deeper into the caverns to the right. The beast responds eagerly, leaping off rocks and walls until it reaches a troll to sink its fangs into.

She waits for it to attack, and then shouts in a loud voice "Strike again!" and her allies feel themselves invigorated, with new energy to swing their weapons again.
