FAQ:
(click to show/hide)

Format:
For the highest in each category, the Prereqs are presented as follows.

Letter for Post and Prereq-type distinction
# "The Text of the PrC Prereq" (The PrC with the highest or equal required value)

For the matching tricks or the quickest class to 'break into' each category, the format is related but slightly looser as follows.

Letter for Post and Prereq-type distinction
# All moderately useful ways to meet the prerequisite and any explanations

Please note that I am very aware base classes are not the most optimal path but are the current standard to get the ball rolling on how to quickly 'crack' each prereq

A) Character Traits Prereq Answers

1) Obviously you need a central antimagic eye to put out. It must be antimagic too. That part happens to be a supernatural ability. So take your new shape and unless you do so by shapeshift, you will need to get a feat. I prefer assume supernatural ability, but metamorphic transfer works just as well like LoP would have you.

2) Either play a race of that type, be an applicable race for a correctly type changing feat like Outsider, perform a very expensive Savage Species ritual, or just stay permanently Polymorphed. Sometimes Reincarnate will work but mostly its a dud.

3) Either be that size via race or gain it. Again Polymorph, SS rituals, and polymorphing work. Also gaining size happens by two templates (Half-Minotaur and Half-ogre) but only work up to large. Lycanthrope works for one size larger than you are but is basically alter self and sub-optimal. Wildshape does work but you are limited by HD and types. Druid, MoMF, or Shapechanger levels help with that as does Proportionate Wildshape. Casting solutions are varied but are usually Enlarge Person, Righteous Might, Expansion, and Giant Size. Others generally rely on a form change (like that Spell Compendium one that makes you a centaur)

4) Templates may or may not work for this depending on your DM. This 'as a class or racial feature' is clear and isn't the semantics that happens with DMs on MoMF. I would assume that Dragon Disciple does work for this but is hardly optimal. Let me know if you think of something better than 'play a dwarf.'

5) Dragonborn is good. Unless you need other the racial stuff that it clears. Being a sorcerer with a matching feat works, as does being a dragonwr-HAHAH. I couldn't say that with a straight face. Try draconic for an all around LA1 solution. There might be others.

6) Phew. Um do SLAs count? If so DFAs and Warlocks must have something. Or archmage it. Other than that 'innate' might work for templates (hey you got me which one...). Guess you might be stuck with playing certain suboptimal races. Post if you know better.

7) Same as 6 but probably easier to crack.

8) Take the Amphibious template, use a costly SS ritual, or get luck from a reincarnate. Or play an applicable race...

B) Character Statistics Prereq Answers

1) Take Full Bab Classes? No. Have a DMM-swapped Divine Power from a higher level party cleric, or an NPC for a ton of cash.
1) Get a party or NPC necropolitan or warforged Warchanter 10 to follow you around after starting near an ally of sufficient BAB.

2) Illithid Savants allow you to DIRECTLY gain more than your max skill limit without investing points.
2) Codex anathema (LoM) 37.5k = +2int&-2wis, direct +5know(dungeon), +2Know(arcana)&Know(Planes)
2) Obviously max your 3+ECL limit and have the in-class skill limit.
2) Favored + Primary Contact = +1 to an applicable organization's related skill, see Cityscape.
2) a major Bloodline + Skill Knowledge = +1 by ECL 3, +2 total by ECL 6, +3 total by ECL 12
2) Skill Knowledge + that same necropolitan or warforged (warchanter) with Inspire Greatness = +2

Note: it can even be (RAW) psychic reformed out, but this likely result in DMGs to the face. A sneakier DM could find ways to make you lose the ranks temporarily, resulting in PrC disqualification until you can Psy Ref in the feat again.
Song of the Heart (ECS60) adds +1 to all Bardic Music effects = +3
Add Words of Creation for double the effect = +6 total (add Heartfire Fanner for more cheese)
Add Focused Performance (DragMag338 89) for double the doubles only on you = +12 instead
If you can't keep up the Inspire Greatness use Psychic Reformation to swap around the skills while you have them. Expect pain from the DM.
2) For more than a DMG to the face you could give your DM a good laugh by mentioning DocRoc's skill point quickstep. Warning: mentioning shambling mound or consumptive field in the same conversation might be relevant topics, but is still unadvised.

3) I hope you have atleast 3 already always in class so you can Skill Knowledge or Flexible Mind [Anarchic] (Drag Mag 326) the rest. Taking Human Paragon helps. Please post all the 'x is always a class skill for you' feats. There are tons.

4) Max Int. Play a Changling Rogue at first level. Or Be human (or similar humanesque races that still get those lovely extra skill points) with Nymph's Kiss. That last one limits your options. Also think about having a DMM-buff centered cleric in the party to help eek out more skill points.

5) If you have the levels just factotum 1 + able learner. Otherwise check above for 2)

6) I see no other possibility other than 3 classes (or 2 with the partial saves variant) with all good saves. Let me know otherwise

7) 6 classes, or 5 with the partial saves variant but otherwise the same as 6)

8)  Someone please find me that hidecarved dragon thread.

9)  Speaking druidic usually requires either being a druid or dominating/getting a thrall or cohort to teach it to you. Let me know if there are any other ways.

10) Take a fighter-like level, either base class or PrC or just take Martial Weapon Proficiency.

11) Take a race able to learn 'any' language and make sure you have at least 12 int or take a class like scout that gives speak language as a class skill and put a point into it. I think that's it.

12) Same as above except your automatic languages + bonus languages must be at least 4 along with an int of 18 or get those speak language classes with enough skill points.

13) Special: Flight extraordinary ability (Stormtalon)

14) Don't use the partial saves variant. A level of commoner helps. Otherwise just follow a class to 3rd level.

C) Casting System Ability Prereq Answers

Spellcasting Level Increases

1) a. {null->0,1} Wizard 1 or Magical Training feat (1st level only) = 1st or 0th level (prepared or perhaps spontaneous) See 4) for the divine casting alternative
   b. {1->2} Precocious Apprentice (1st level only) = 2nd level casting (prepared or spontaneous your choice)
   c. {2->3} Dragonsblood pool [CM149] 2k = 3rd level spell slot for 1 year since thanks to sanctum spell, 3rd level spells can be cast.
   d. {3->4} Versatile Spellcaster [the second 3rd level slot is a bonus slot from high casting stat] = +1 level by sacrificing 2 of your highest spell slots (spontaneous only means spontaneous divination domain for wizards)
   e. {0->1,2->3,4->5}Sanctum Spell (1 metamagic) = +1 spell level as long as within your sanctum. Makes Precocious Apprentice become a slot (require Versatile Spellcaster in the feat-only version).
   f. {5->6} Improved Sigil (Krau) [must be illumian] = +1 free "as if heightened" to picked, verbal spells [note this psuedo-heighten works even whilst the other sketchy DMM+heighten shenanigans don't because heighten doesn't have a metamagic cost ("increase in the metamagic feat") for DMM to negate]
   g. {7->8} Eldritch Corruption [non-good, with allies, preferable undead] = 3/day +2 free spell level bumps for 2 instances of 2 con damage to an ally.
   h. {8->9} Earth Sense + Earth Spell + Heighten = +1 when you heighten a spell using a higher level slot than original
   i. practical/easy metamagic this requires minimum of 1 which can't piggy-back off Krau sigil feat due to 'as if' language
TOTAL: 1 level or an extra feat along with a decent race and 9 feats gives 9th level spells
Note: at your option practical metamagic would save a feat, but it requires skill rank shenanigans. Meaning a Illuman (krau) spontaneous divination Wiz 1 with 2 flaws who worships an elder evil near a medium level warforged word of creation heartfire fanner could cast 9th level spells after some reformatting (assuming he had the int).

2)  Spontaneous arcane casting is supposed to be more limited. But any spontaneous casting (divination wizard ACF anyone?) works so we just follow the normal casting bumps up to 4th in this case. Magical artisan is vague so it seems it could go either way.

3)  The beauty about early casting methods is that (except for one) they all work with arcane and divine. So add a cleric level to that Wizard using the above methods and you can easily manage 5th level spells.

4)  Similar to 1) but uses the Mad Faith feat instead of Precocious Apprentice [requires first level divine casting] and dragonsblood pool for 3rd level casting if you can stomach severe depravity (be necropolitan and have high charisma). You can also save out on the feat sink that earth spell is. Illuman (krau) Cleric 1 with 2 flaws and near a medium level warforged word of creation heartfire fanner could cast 9th level spells after some reformatting if he either worships an elder evil or takes 2 feat-granting domains (assuming he had the wis).

5)  Warlock Invocations are rather specific. Just look them up and compare which is sooner. Take whichever one you feel like using. In this case they are lesser and require Warlock 6 or 1 + 5 casting bumps.

Edit:
(click to show/hide)

Psionics

6)  a. You need to be a psionic character with the ability to manifest. I suggest Hidden Talent as the go-to.
   b. For early manifesting you will want to pay for a psychic chirurgery to learn the power level required.
   c. Normally 2*power level - 1 in PP is needed to cast a power. We are going to drop that number:
If your DM allows it this 3.0 feat is technically legal and will give you -1ML after you grab a psicrystal
       i. Torc of Power Preservation: -1pp
ii. Earth Power [Earth Sense]: -1pp while on earth and focused. Unfortunately this is explicitly not usable with midnight augmentation)
iii. Ardent Dominant Ideal does not help because it is only for augmentation or metapsionic powers. Note that Psions are able to manifest just as high as borked ardents ("A psion can manifest any power that has a power point cost equal to or lower than his manifester level.") the only difference is when they learn their powers:
iii. Midnight Augmentation: When you blow your focus 1 power gets -1pp per essential invested up to max of power's level (max -9pp excluding essentia cap). Remember your essentia cap is 1 under ECL6, 2 under ECL12, 3 under ECL18, and 4 if above.
          1. Obviously we will want that essentia cap maxed to get that lovely -9pp with Psycarnum Infusion. I'm of the opinion it doesn't give any free pp except for 1 first level power each day. But if your DM disagrees he might ban the combo. In that case consider getting
          2. Divine Soultouch [con13, turn/rebuke undead]: once a round spead 1 turn to give you an essentia that can go above your limit
          3. Improved Essentia Capacity: +1 essentia capacity up to con mod
          4. Incandescent Champion 4 gives a 1/day +1essentia capacity. It is enterable at ECL 2 with  a warchanter (or ECL1 with a suitable bard also). Only use this if you REALLY need to enter something early.
   d. Two things to pay for, 6+ feats, and 4 levels could mean -9pp, bringing 9th level chirurgery power(s) into ML8 range. See 2) for how to get that ML8

7)  Boosting ML is way easier, but much more tied to manifesting progressions than CL is to casting progressions. Here are the ways:
    a) Practiced Manifester (Psycraft4): +4 but up to limit of ML=ECL, great for RHD
    b) *Overchannel: +1 if below ECL8, +2 if below ECL15, +3 after
    b) *Wild Surge: Does not stack but can give +1-6. Unfortunately by Wilder19 you still wish you were a psion.
    c) Stygian Archon (2 negative energy powers): +1 for only negative energy powers but requires focus to maintained so it is not compatible with midnight augmentation.
    c) Envoy Cognizance (Know Planes1, Psicrastal Affinity, Elemental Envoy, and must have it adjacent to you): +1 while utilizing chosen envoy's energy type
    c) Life Mantle: +1 for powers on the life mantle list. Note Psions can cheese it out to get this. Poor Divine Minds.
    d) Mind Mage (Dragon 313) 8-10 gives ML 8-10, @ level 10 its +10CL all day as well.
    e) Magic Mantle forces your DM to use the broken magic-psionics transparency. Reserves of strength, every CL boost known to man, and too many other things know boost your ML. Yuck.

Using 8)iv. and 7)'s Hidden Talent, overchannel, and practiced manifestor gives 7th level powers at ECL4 regardless of your class, assuming you can get the cash and feats. Going Incandescent Champion 4 will get you 8th level powers. I am not concerned about 9th level powers since that's where you want to end up for after PrC, not start.

Incarnum and Meldshaping

8) Getting Essentia is easy. Take feats, play an azurin (they rock) or take a meldshaping class. I suggest the first two.
9) Take Incarnate 4 or the Open Least Chakra feat three times (requires con13, level 6)
10) Incarnate or Totemist 2 isn't bad but Shape Soulmeld x3 works too.
11) Totemist 2 is the only way to get it ;)
12) Shape Soulmeld and level 12 work as does 6 of any meldshaping class (I'm unsure about Soulborn though)

Initiator Classes and Martial Maneuvers

13) Either dip Swordsage or Warblade 1 xor buy 3 Novice Tigerclaw versions of Crown of the White Raven (1.5k) or take Martial Study 3 times.
14) Either dip Warblade 1 xor buy 2 Novice Ironheart versions of Crown of the White Raven (1.5k) or take Martial Study and Martial Stance.
15) Dip any base initiator class or buy 2 Novice Stone Dragon versions of Crown of the White Raven (1.5k)
16) Dip Swordsage 1 or Warblade and Crusader or buy 3 versions of Crown of the White Raven and take martial study three times.

Binding

17) If you want binding progession you must go Binder 1.
17) Improved Binding = +2 EBL
17) Major bloodline = +3 EBL (eventually)
17) You can grab another level of binder and still not worry about XP penalties if you don't have any other base classes above level 2. This will (by ECL12) grant you juicy 4th level vestiges.
17) Any higher level vestiges generally aren't worth another 3 binder levels (the progression starts getting very bad later on)

18) You can use the bind vestige + improved bind vestige feats (practiced binder isn't worth adding) to qualify but the consensus is that you won't gain any new binding ability from your PrC's progression (basically don't do it unless you don't care about binding and are an anima mage)

Shadowcasting

19) Either take Shadowcaster 3 or (due to linguistic ambiguity) buy two Greater Shroud of Nights (36.63k)

D) Non-casting Class Ability Prereq Answers

1) Does the need for too many feats have you down? Try the PBMC Free Feat Diet:
1) Starting feat
2) Human-esque/Strongheart Halfling bonus feat
3) Flaw A
4) Flaw B
5) Unseelie Fey template -> Unseelie Court Noble Kelir DCFSable bonus feat
6) 1st level's soulknife feat 1 (to be reformatted like everything else below)
7) 1st level's soulknife feat 2
8) Devil pact feat 1 -> Lawful (you can even still save your soul after both deals)
9) Devil pact feat 2 -> Evil (get a separate devil)
10) Elder Evil vile feat via worshiping one
= 6 [any], 1 [vile], 3 DCFSable feats at level 1.

By having an ECL-stretched parted (TO territory)
11) DMM-swapped Heroics every day
12) DMM-swapped Mirror Move every day

Bloodline feat
monk feat 1
monk feat 2
Take Craft Wonderous Item (reformatable to any other item creation feat), spend 500gp to get a bonus feat. Doable with CL boosts at level 2.
Ritual of Prophecy (int11 speak draconic) [MoE 44] dragon prophesier feat not for any pre-req
->Necropolitan
Moderate Taint -> any 1 feat
Severe Taint -> any 1 feat
= +6 DCFable at level 2 plus 1 [Item Creation] by CL abuse.

Note on taint you for those who aren't undead or (Evil) chose from Corruption or Depravity per path. Remember that the greater effects don't replace the lesser ones. These are all corruption since depravity has no up sides.
(click to show/hide)

+Locations, 8 total = 29k [available by ECL9] (1 requires a temporary metamagic + lasts only 1 year)
+Any remaining Bloodlines
+Any Legacy Weapons
+Any feats from levels
+The free Cairn's Keepers affiliation leadership feat here which is available quite early if you fight enough aberrations

Also you should do a quick cross-reference for items that grant feats if the feat needed is common enough.

Yes I am aware this would break the previous record of 504, if legacy items are abused like in that thread.

1) For more than a DMG to the face you could give your DM a good laugh by mentioning DocRoc's skill point quickstep. Warning: mentioning shambling mound or consumptive field in the same conversation might be relevant topics, but is still unadvised.

2) Wind Runner 1 or Druid 3 or be a Bamboo Spirit Folk

3) Rogue 5 or Martial Study up some Assassin's stance or Bracers of the Hunter + Mantle of the Predator + Rogue Vest

4) Warlock 5 or Warlock 1 + Greater Chasuble of Fell Power

5) Druid 5 or Druid 1 + versatile spellcaster and sanctuary spell or just mad faith

6) Don't go Rogue, just save 20k for the ring.

7) Druid 1 is better than Ranger, or subs. Wild Cohort won't work.

8) Ranger or Druid 1 along with many variants, some PrCs and perhaps a race or two.

9) 40k item + Divine minion, or Abolisher or Shapeshift 1, or obviously Druid 5

10) Cler 1 or a Turn-giving PrC. Good Lich can do it if your into that kind of thing :)

11) Extra Bardic Music Feat + Bard 1 or Heartfire Fanner PrC for kicks

12) Bard 1, or PrCs

13) Elan, Psion 1, or Hidden Talent

14) Monk 3, PrCs?

15) Rogue 1, many PrCs, Spells?

16) Paladin 2 regular or of freedom. Anyone know of any Prestiges that will do it in 1?

17) Barb1, Frenzied Berserker or any raging-item (get that cursed one for extra fun)

18) Barb1, or any raging PrC

19) Monk 1

20) Ranger 1 or Foe Hunter at first level.

21) Templates or too many Dread necro levels (which are on the way to a template...). Let me know if there are applicable items.

22) Wiz 1 or Obtain Familiar

23) Ardent 1 or Psion ACF

24) SoulKnife 1. I wonder if that Psychic Warrior ACF works. Let me know.

25) SoulKnife 2 I assume is still the best way.

26) See 25)

27) Monk 5, or a PrC. Help a guy out.

28) Changeling or probably any humanoid or giant (the race limitation is a grey are) with the Planar Touchstone(Were Glade) [PlH164] feat.
or Assume a form with a change shape Su and take Assume Supernatural Ability or if psionic metamorphic transfer will work.
or Finish MoMF or be a Quasilycanthrope, regular lycanthrope, preferably the more optimal Weretiger, Werebear, Wereboar, or Wererat Template Classes or pay for the SS ritual.
or get polymorph as spell (see casting tricks above) or SLA (via archmage or race)
or Wildshape via items, classes, or that cheesy template

29) Wizard 1 or Racial casting? Are any of them specialized?

30) That arcane domain feat or Cleric 1 or a few PrCs

31) Other than Cleric 1 or a Domain giving PrC or base class, wouldn't that arcane domain count?

32) This really should be under unoptimizable but I was unsure about racial casting

Lastly my favorite class the Illithid Savant can take a few levels and gain any class feature. Usually for prereqs its easier to go get it yourself, but gaining capstones is priceless. If you eat other illithid savants you can get a few more abilities, but I discourage chaining.

E) Thoughts on the Un-optimizable Miscellaneous Prereqs

0) Everything else not given a number can simply be 'picked' in RP background unless your DM is cruel and makes you do it while at his gaming table. They include silly things like have to have gone below 0hp, must have taken damage from disease and poison, must have oversight of another member of the PrC, must meditate on a mountain, etc.

1) You probably don't want this. If so see specific threads on this stuff. Its, well, character changing.
2) If you need to become a beholder see LoP's trick on it. To 'become' a race as several other methods, check out how my CoDzilla build does it. Hint: Items are involved.
3) Take the template. Try to get LA buyoff or you WILL suck. Um, literally, in this case...
4) There is nothing you can do here but be within atleast 1 alignment away from the Patron required. This prereq is plentiful and is a bummer for a lot of possible builds.
5) Its silly but do what you gotta do. I hope you enjoy that feminine RP. Pray your DM lets a gender change belt work...
6) Even sillier. No stupid. Its 400% worse than the patron nonsense.
7) Get items. Having stats above a certain point shouldn't be too hard for WotC material.
8) Be an alterate casting system caster. Binders and Psions are still cool.
9) Isn't there a ring or something for that? There are tons of templates for it. Help me out here.
10) See my post this thread that I'm about to take over.

*11) Go necropolitan and make this work FOR you.
*12) if you can't spare 2 skill points you shouldn't be taking skill points, much less building a character.
*13) Warlock or Artificer level are probably way out of the way. So just get a +5 bonus (5 ranks or 20 charisma will do fine) and roll 20 times. Use a +skill feat only as last resort. If you get a 1 just try again the next day.
*14) You DID make a custom one right? Right? If so, you are stronger for your Prereq. If not, you probably suck now.

*Potentially won't influence your character at all and like the fluff, can just be added in as RP
