Cory takes a deep breath, then sets off at a fairly slow pace, watching his shoes carefully.  It's not so bad if I don't look up, he thinks.  This way, he can pretend he's just on a very black road.

You walk and walk, Ana following behind you.  You can't exactly hear her footsteps in this nothingness, but you can hear her humming softly to herself.  After a while, you look up and see a faint light in the distance.

Cory pauses for a minute, though he doesn't look back at Ana.  He knows it's stupid, but it feels too much like Orpheus for him to want to look back.  "Thanks, by the way," he says, and keeps walking.

Ana: Hmm?  Oh, it's no problem~  I'm just doing my duty!
Ana: Or something like that, anyway~  It's fun so it's fine!
Ana: Of course, it would be fine even if it wasn't fun~

Cory wants to ask, Why is it your duty?, but he's a little afraid it would be rude, so instead, he just says, "That's a good way to look at it."  He tries to see if he can make out anything besides the faint light ahead.

It's a bit too far to easily make anything out, but maybe there are some other things around the light?

Ana: It's certainly one way to look at it~  If you find a better way, that's fine~
Ana: If you don't, that's fine too!

"So..."  He's not super-great at small talk.  "Um, well, this is where I would keep the conversation going by saying something about the weather, but, uh..."

Ana: Hehe~  You're fun, you know?  I like you~
Ana: As for the weather, it's a bit sparse, isn't it?
Ana: Neither hot nor cold~  Windy nor rainy~
Ana: You could almost say its no particular thing~
Ana: Which makes it my favorite type of weather!

He cracks a smile.  "I kind of like it when it's stormy out.  Well, I used to anyway.  I guess I haven't been out in a storm for a while."

Ana: Storms are nice too!  Standing out in the torrent and being blow whichever way by the wind~
Ana: It's more Sam's thing, really, but I don't mind it!

As you get closer to the light, you can start to make things out.  The light itself is fairly large and somewhat tall.  There also appears to be a building of some sort next to it.

"Who's Sam?" He sighs with relief as he sees the building.  His nerves are all jangly from walking through nothing.

Ana: She's my best friend!  She's not here right now, though.

He wishes he could think of a way to get slightly more useful answers from Ana, but at least her cheerfulness is infectious.  The nausea he felt before is almost gone, and, even though he's still really confused and jittery, things seem to be looking up a bit.  "So there are other people around here then?"

Ana: I have no idea!  None at all~  I'm here, and you're here, so there are probably others, right?
Ana: There's a building over there, right, so it only makes sense that there's someone around to build it~

You're now fairly close to the light.  Close enough that you can actually make out some details.  The light itself appears to be caged in a strange pillar-like structure of black filigree.  It almost looks like it's growing out of the nothingness.  The building's a bit beyond the pillar, and looks more or less like a small, old fashioned house.  There are tendrils of nothingness wrapped around it, as if they were holding it in place.

You wake up in a familiar nothingness.  Standing in front of you, as she was before, is the blue-haired woman, Ana.

Ana: Rise and shine~

"Oh Christ," Cory groans.  "What the hell?"  He puts a hand to his head, wondering if he's been dreaming.

Ana: You broke, I'm afraid~
Ana: I had though I had put you together a bit better than that, but we all make mistakes~
Ana: I must have left out some glue or something~

Cory gapes at her.  "I--I what? You did what?"

Ana: Hmm?  You broke!
Ana: Into little pieces~
Ana: Someone else... the knight?  He's taking care of things for you at the moment~
Ana: Truly a kind fellow!

"A knight?  But he's--I used to play pretend that I was a knight!  That's all, he's not...what?  What do you mean, you made me?"
