Orange Submarine
« on: March 03, 2014, 03:13:06 AM »
...You're standing in what appears to be the corridor of a ship.  The walls, floor, and ceiling are made of dull metal, and the corridor you're in is well illuminated by bare bulbs embedded in the walls and ceiling.

The ground beneath you is swaying every so slightly, appropriate, seeing as how you are probably on a ship.

You can only move forward.  Or back, of course, through the gate.

Louise hesitantly moves forward, checking to see how much noise is made on this metal floor.

The floor is louder than you would like.

Louise removes her shoes and throws them through the gate, hoping the go back through the other side.  "The floor here is too noisy." she explains. "If you can stand it, you should remove your shoes to make less noise."

The floor is actually fairly warm.  It's a bit surprising for a ship.

"Ah, well. We'll have better traction, at least."

I bend over and unlace my boots. However, rather than simply throwing them back through the gate, I pass through and gently place them on the ground, then return.

Flexing my calloused toes against the warm floor, I murmur happily. "This is actually quite nice."

After a short distance you come across a fork in the corridor.  One of the paths is quite dark, while the other is well illuminated.  There is a light switch on the wall neat the lit path.

Louise, as the Americans would say, nips the problem in the bud, "Don't touch that switch please"  She whispers, beginning down the illuminated hallway

I cock an eyebrow at her assumption of my stupidity, but follow silently.

You end up in a long chamber walled with rows and rows of columns.  The columns all have small doors on them.  There is a lit path ahead of you.

"Doors or path?" I ask Louise, eying the nearest door curiously.

It isn't exactly a door.  Maybe more of a hatch?  There are also various buttons around the hatches, but you don't have any idea what they do.

The buttons only make my curiosity stronger. I look at Louise pleadingly.

Louise turns back.  "these might be like the classrooms.  let's check one out."  She says softly, not convinced that they are alone.

I investigate the nearest hatch more closely, careful to avoid pushing any buttons before determining if there is another way to open it.

It takes a bit, but you manage to open one of the hatches.  It's just a long tube, reaching up some unknown distance.  It's not large enough for both of you, and it's a bit of a tight fit for even one of you.

"Shall I explore it?" I ask.

"I barely fit in there, do you think you could do it without getting stuck?" louise 'uses' her glasses to look around the submarine briefly
