So... pregame crafting of bow & arrows, including special materials???

If you can make the crafting DCs by taking 10, sure.

That's how it works normally isn't it?  Though it only works on mundane stuff, and if you put in the ranks for it.

Suggestions have been sent.  In the meantime... does anyone in the party know each other?  I'll start with a new group of marked coming via cart (you guys), unless you are already in town for some reason.  May as well figure it out now.

Well, one question.

How likely is it to be regularly hitting up town hubs?
To unload at and make inventory space :D

Hmmm, it depends on you guys but if you go into the shroud like I expect, things are sparse.  That said, there are small pockets of civilization which I suspect you will be visiting often for supplies and rest.

I've actually kept the map vague.  Partly because the land under the shroud has... changed... and partly because I have not yet made a satisfactory map for myself.  I have major areas, such as a city, a castle, a swamp, but don't have a coherent sense of how I want them all connected yet.

For unloading, there should be the occasional wandering merchant sort as well.  Though sparse, there is still life under the shroud.  The biggest ones are a military base which is the front-line trying to fight the shades.  There's a major mine under the shroud which the Black & Coustad company has been mining (turnover is a bit high, that's what you get for setting up shop in a war zone).  Supposedly there is a "city of marked" somewhere.  And implied in the NPCs section but haven't spoken of yet, Mr. Louis Quatorze says there's a re-purposed Colosseum the Church of Light is using as a rest-spot.

If leaving Limen via the land bridge, your first/next populated city will be a frontier town in Taphos made out of Taphos survivors from deeper in, but it's a journey.  You may run by the old Marlowe estate depending on the path you go, and plenty of ruins/abandoned cities.

Okay. I was mostly asking for a general sense of whether it'd be worth my time to invest very much into.....

Actually, yanno I was thinking of reconsidering my decision to snag Leadership at 6th level what with me going the route of setting up a branch of the Jack of All Trades Mercenary Clan in this neck of the woods ( :D ), but now I'm thinking maybe I can set out to set up our own town hub in the sparse and assumedly unclaimed territory that is The Shroud that works out as a personal base of operations and safe haven for us to retreat to....or maybe like a moving/mobile town that follows us around as we blaze a trail.....etc etc ramblings...

That is totally possible and pretty cool.  Many have gone there just to loot the abandoned cities or claim them, its how most of the safe zones started: someone made a city state, and who better to justify one's claim than adventurers.  You may be called to defend your town if you do.  I like it.

My character is only interested (initially) in uncovering the "mysteries" of the shroud, and reporting what info he gains back to the Empire/Queen. He's also a bit nuts, and creepy, but a decent healer, and could ally himself with about anyone if he thought it might help fulfill his goals. He also might start out with RD's character, if it's alright with her, since they are from the same kingdom (or they could meet later).

I think Berid might know Axejack. Perhaps Berid was contracted by an associate of AJs, and after that first job, they found they liked working together.

Don't tempt me (though that is cool!)

I'd steal it, but I already know the purpose and location of the tarrasque in Strata.  Watch your cities Hinnomians.
