"Probably no one. I don't think any of the girls would go for that, and even a guy on the council would be putting their neck on the chopping block if they started checking out the girls' locker room key." Leaning on the wall, Sam mirrors Kiley's count. "The only way I can see that happening is if they're too high up to get in trouble, but then why would they give the key to a scrub like Ronin at all?"

"Okay, now paranoia time." Kiley nods and keeps counting. "We know Mariella was brainwashed, and she got the key from a girl on the council, so what if that girl's brainwashed too? Now we've got someone who'd totally give the key to a boy, if you ordered her to. But that means Ronin's brainwashed too, because otherwise, why would our master have her give him the key?"

"I can buy that. If you've got a Master on your side, that's how you work, right? Pulling strings through minions and making it as hard as possible to find the source? And we're pretty sure they have some sort of limit on their powers, if they have to jump through all these hoops - hang on, wait." Sam blinks. "The weird message in the binder. You think that might be it?"

"And Ronin can sense through paper, so he might have seen it by accident without being on the council. Fits. So it all comes back to one guy?"

"Sounds like. Maybe this wasn't a complete waste of time after all. We're not that much closer to finding him, but maybe we could get help from Conspiracy to hunt him down."

"Damn right. If Ronin's really compromised, she's got a vested interest in it and everything. I'll bet you whatever the master would love to have a pet Scattershot." She blinks. "Actually, what if that was the real point behind the peep shots? I didn't see any messages, but I didn't look super closely either."

Slowly, Sam nods. "Could be. Scattershot isn't really a subtle guy about wrecking Franco's stuff, and it did seem like a dumb way to attack someone who's got a personal force field. And Ronin would have to know that was the case; they fight all the time and he always loses. God, imagine Scattershot steered by someone with brains." Like Conspiracy, he thinks but doesn't add out loud. At least so far Scattershot's sister has just been concerned with keeping her brother safe.

Kiley blinks. "And of course, with all this paper in here Ronin probably just heard all of that. Now he knows we know and so on."

"No sense being too paranoid about it. Though maybe we shouldn't stay here too much longer just in case."

"Phrasing." Sam nods, already checking the hallway outside for guards, lurking Masters, or totally innocent sheets of paper hanging around.

The hallway is bare of any guards, though Sam could sense them moving about the school, having finished with their business. Nothing of note except a poster exhorting students to keep the school clean.

A poster which looks more ominous now that they suspect a Master's influence at work. Sam shakes his head. "All clear at the moment."

"Cool. Time to get some sleep and bug Conspiracy tomorrow, I guess. I was looking forward to fucking with Leaf Blower, too..."

"Plenty of time for that later. I'd say we'll stuff him into a locker, but he sort of already did that. I'm sure we can find a better punishment, anyway."

With that parting thought, the duo casually evades the security and makes their way back to the dorms without incident, though there is an oddly ominous sense to every scrap of paper or text as they leave..
