Kiley just rests her arms on the ledge and floats lazily in the water. "I dunno. I heard there was one here, but I don't know a name. Someone who's making a lot of heat and needs to dump it somewhere, I guess. One of those science guys who can't work in Harkin's, maybe?"

"Ehhhh." Jennifer drawls out as she flops on the ledge, "Seems dumb to put anything which puts out that much heat into water under unstable rock unless you wanted  to do a ton of damage."

"Bet you a fifty it's either a villain or a kid"

Kiley has a pretty good idea of who this is, meaning she'd win the bet if they ever actually found out. She shrugs. "Sure. ...Wait. If it's so unstable, should we be swimming around here?"

"Do you know something I don't?" Jennifer blinks at Kiley picking up on the bet so easily, giving her an odd look,"What's the worst that could happen? It'd take weeks for the rock to weaken enough."

...yep, that's enough homework. Sam puts the books aside and grabs his things to head out in search of something to do. Virtually anything, at this point - though maybe poking around Old Harkin instead of at home. If he ran into Scattershot right now, he might do something drastic.

"Nah. I might just be too sleepy to really grok how much money that is." Kiley offers a huge yawn that's only about half for show. "Uh, let's see, one lunch is... you wouldn't come down on me over fifty bucks anyway, right? You're richer than God as it is."

Sam, thankfully enough, does not run into Scattershot on his way to the train station, and onwards to freedom. Nothing more notable than a flying girl in a black bikini and butterfly mask flinging what looks like wires at a boy in yellow spandex in the sky above the train...at least until the train vanishes out from under him, replaced with a tropical jungle under a massive red sun. The two idiots were still at it in the sky above.

Distortion.

Jennifer gives Kiley a vulpine grin, "Not there yet, I'm working on it. If you can't pay it with money, you'd have to pay it with your body!"

She pounces off the ledge with a splash.

Sam blinks as the train stops existing, shortly before he hits the ground in a tumble. "...well, I guess that's something." Dusting himself off, he stands up and cranes his neck back to look at the battling pair in the sky. "Are these two for real? Did they even notice we were...?"

The pair continue to trash about overhead, though the boy has a lot of the wires looped around his waist even as he rips the stuff going for his arms off. Odd, spooky noises come from the jungle all around.

Sam cocks his head to the side as something dense moves closer to the fight. "...Oh, I have to watch this." Throwing a quick look at Whipcord and her opponent to make sure they aren't watching (they probably aren't), he scales a nearby tree. Might be a good idea to change, too, once they're sufficiently distracted and he has enough foliage for cover.

The tree is odd, rather than the usual bark, it's leafy all the way down to the base, and the trunk feels ribbed, but Sam manages to get up without too much of a fuss, as he gets a good view of another tree bending with a loud creak as a large bipedal reptile slowly climbs onto it, hopping slightly on the tilting treetop as the surprisingly flexible tree sways like a trampoline.

The girl catches sight of the reptile and rapidly ascends, even as her opponent flails at the threads all over him.

"I think I've played this game before." Sam starts changing into costume now that there's a reptilian distraction at hand. Helmet first, naturally. The fact that he's in a distortion at all will give away the fact that he's a Special already; might as well hide his face.

The dinosaur bounces and LEAPS off the tree, at Yellow Spandex Boy from behind him...and apparently misjudged the range as it flies just over his head, and crashes loudly into the jungle. "What."

Meanwhile Sam gets dressed while he's stuck to the side of a tree.

Kiley splashes a bit and shrugs. "Maybe I'll just get Sam to buy me lunch for a month or so and save up."

Horizon claps a hand to his visor. "If only I'd been dressed already, I could have filmed that. Oh well. Probably wouldn't have made them very happy if they'd noticed." He keeps hanging out and watching, since there's no immediate danger to anyone. Relatively, anyway. He is in some primordial alternate dimension, watching a pair of capes brawling while a dinosaur tries to catapult itself into the middle of the fight.

Much more exciting than homework.

Spandex-boy continues looking through the jungle for his attacker as the last of the black threads binding him fall off, though the dinosaur's movement is clear enough for all to see. It's taken the fall without any injury, and had leapt onto another tree, stretching the poor abused trunk as a springboard.

The instant it rockets up, he dropkicks the rising dinosaur on the head, sending the beast flying, stunned, which was good.

It was flying RIGHT at Sam's location. Which was bad.

It figures this would happen. Half-expecting disaster is what gives Horizon enough warning to extend an arm to flick the flying dinosaur with a finger and a hell of a lot of gravitational force.

The dinosaur, with a distressed hronk, flies up up and out of sight. Yellow Spandex boy casts about wildly, "Who did that?!"
Kiley splashes a bit and shrugs. "Maybe I'll just get Sam to buy me lunch for a month or so and save up."
Jennifer sidles through the splashes, and stage-whispers, "So, you two an item?"

Horizon sighs deeply. Perceptive, this guy. He hops onto the treetop and waves lazily. "Hi. You should really watch where you throw things."

Kiley responds by... seriously considering the question. Albeit not in a very serious manner. "Uh. Hm. I guess we did literally go for dinner and a movie?"
