I guess this is a good lesson in informing the dm about using the keep cool salve in my inventory... Will need to put some of that on. My mistake.

We're seasoned travelers to the wastes. Klau-Doth can spontaneously cast Endure Elements, and other things related to protecting himself and his allies from the elements. Although... the thought of burning three spell slots on it doesn't sound too appealing...

So... which is better? Endure Elements or Cloak of Shade? They seem to basically do the same thing... and he can cast both spontaneously from Priest of the Wastes. I guess since we actually are already in physical shade, that we'd have to use Endure Elements? Or does real shade stack with Cloak of Shade?

Anyway, once we notice that its getting hot to damage us, shouldn't we be given enough warning to apply protection to ourselves?

Edit: The mekillot's speed is 30. It's stats are listed in the WBL spoiler on his character post.

Edit2: If we douse ourselves in water, would that cool us off? Are there rules for that? Klau-Doth can also spontaneously cast Create Water, and I'd not feel as bad blowing orisons on keeping cool. :P

Edit3: How are we calculating hit points?... I guess I didn't notice before...

Edit4: Yes... I do have too much time on my hands today (and I'm procrastinating doing other things that I should be doing...)... I think perhaps we're better off to just shrug off the heat damage for now, and heal it up later when we (inevitably) take real damage, because of the "freebie" of also healing non-lethal when you heal lethal. Is there anything wrong with this plan? I'm not too familiar with the heatstroke rules, etc... Are we risking something that's not easy to heal if we do as I've suggested?

Don't feel bad, I'm of work fur the rest of the day and have time to kill before getting to the store and making dinner. Still need to figure out what in making. Just realized I sing have hp figured out either. As far as the non lethal damage, unless I'm missing something, it's not a major issue as long as we are conscious. If we fall unconscious, it becomes lethal and could present a problem. I say we get ourselves into the temple, deal with anything that presents an immediate problem, rest up, drink some water, then head farther in.

Oh, and you'd know the answer to this phaedrus, does a shaper psion have an options at low level for incorporeal undead at this level without burning a feat? Or any other low level tricks besides psionic minor creation, and vigor+ share pain?

AFAIK psions can't summon incorporeal undead at all, but then again I'm not that familiar with some of the weirder crap in CPsi...

Haha I don't use Cpsi except for a few feats and a power out two so I don't know either, but I want wasn't asking that. Apparently I need to pay more attention to the way I ask questions. What options does a shaper have to fight/kill/overcome incorporeal undead? Other than sucking up the 50% miss chance

In case it ever comes up, there is this

On damage, I'm fine with things they way they are right now. :P

On dealing with incorpreal, I don't think that the shaper has anything specifically for that.  All their powers are about creating a physical object.

Concussion Blast is a force effect, and so does full damage and ignores the 50% miss. It also ignores elemental resistances, etc, so it's a pretty decent power (for blasting).

You mean being told it's "stifling heat", "burning sands", "heat pummeling down upon them", "baking sand", or "a burning heat, one that would exhaust them all.", all before you actually set out? :P

Edit3: How are we calculating hit points?... I guess I didn't notice before...

Max first, average after. My standard.

You become dehydrated if you don't cope by drinking enough water. It's basically fatigued, but with an extra condition that the heat damage becomes lethal eventually. Look at p15 of Sandstorm for an overview of heat dangers.

Don't need any, as the power says. So you count as hydrated.

So... since I can cast Create Water spontaneously, and have a barrel and a beast of burden to carry it to collect it in, can we assume we're hydrated adequately, or do you want me to specify in-character that I've cast the spell and we've recently drank water? I just want to know what I need to say/post IC to avoid dehydration... because that's a nasty status that I don't have an easy way to remove (at least not prepped right now...).

Never mind... better safe than sorry. :P

You create about enough water with one casting of Create Water to hydrate the 3 of you for a day. So you shouldn't have too much trouble with the condition if you do that.

Sun lenses and filter mask from sand storm. Filter mask lasts 4 hours if it comes into play before it has to be washed. He carried two in case he can't wash the first should it become clogged.
Wish I'd found that... just don't have time to dig through all the books...  :bigeyes

I only looked at sand storm. Until we were given the link to the emporium.  I'm a sucker for alchemical items. It's the first place I turn to once the basics of weapon and armor and special needs are covered. I have a second mask that someone could use if a method of cleaning them was ruled on. The book just says through cleaning. Would a full round action with a vial of water work?

Oh, and aside from stupid amounts of poison, are there anything I shouldn't try and create with minor creation?

Not yet? :P

As a side note, how the hell did the XPH justify giving a 4th level spell as a 1st level power?

Edit: Anything you want to do now you're within close-ish range of the temple? Last chance before the adventure proper starts.

Probably because it's a great power at low levels that only gets better as you level up.

I'm ready to begin.

Because it is absolute crap as a 4th level spell, unless you're using it to make buckets of poison to dump on your enemies (which I'm sure wasn't RAI, because the game authors of D&D have pretty much universally proven themselves incapable of coming up with something that clever).

It seems perfectly reasonable for 1st level, assuming you're using it to replace your broken shield/boat oar/surfboard/etc.

No... not really... unless I can go back and buy some of those goggles and facemask things like genius has. :P

If nothing else, I'm pretty sure I can use psionic minor creation to make a filter mask via cactus fibers turned into cloth and cord. The goggles could likely be fashioned out of wood frames, cactus fiber cord and dark amber lenses. Using free over channel via talented, they would last 5 hours each and cost 1 pp each.

That's an awesome idea. :D If/when we go back to the surface, that would be much appreciated. (I expect we'll be inside soon, and the point will be moot. If you want to go ahead and hand some out though, I won't complain.)
