Elizabeth puts her head in her hand.

"Nothing living was supposed to cross that circle.

At least we know that it doesn't seem to allow him to escape."

She looks off to the side.

"I'm struggling to find any other way to detect this thing that comes into our town at night and feeds on anyone it finds alone."

"Did the Sheriff leave anything that could help?  He has to have some notes on the prisoner."

OOC: I thought I remember Elizabeth searching really early and coming up with nothing. Is that correct?

You do find a deed to another property on the outskirts of town.  One you were pretty sure was uninhabiited currently.

Elizabeth wants to go check it out with one of her lieutenants. Armed. She wants to survey the outside before going in.

The snow is still deep and the wind is high.  There doesn't appear to be any fire lit, though there is ample wood outside.  Odd for an uninhabited place.

Is there less snow on the wood and/or the area around it? Any tracks?

No, but it's probable someone did this before the first snowfall hit.  And it's just far away enough no one might notice.  But if it's uninhabited why pile wood?  And if it is, why no fire?

There is a loud noise as you step on a branch and it snaps.  Everyone is mortified but nothing seems to happen.  It's pitch black inside.

Elizabeth walks up to the door. Is the threshold covered with snow, or is it under a porch? If it's not clear, she wants to physically remove the snow, and check how big the gap is between the door and the threshold. A mouse can squeeze under a 6mm gap, and she intends to take advantage of that, if she can find such a gap.

It's covered in snow.  Removing it will take some work.

Is it built into the door or attached to some other metal parts on the outside?

I don't know if Trapfinding is necessary to look for traps in d20 Modern, but Elizabeth will attempt to look for anything dangerous, if possible.

Search:
Rolled 1d20+17 : 2 + 17, total 19

If she thinks it's safe, she'll pour one of her vials of potent acid on the bolt, or whatever equivalent mechanical part she thinks will separate the locking mechanism from the door.

It seems safe, roll damage.
