Why wouldnt it be? Force is okay with bolts and crossbows. Splitting is okay for bolts and crossbows.Youll have a total of +6 enchantment, but if the DM gets huffy toss that on a few bolts.

I was under the impression that the max + you could have one a weapon was a +5 total.

The max actual plus on a weapon is +5.  The max enchantment cost on a weapon is 200k (a +10 equivalent).  This means you could have just a +1 base (required for further enchanting), and up to another +9 equivalent of other stuff.
What do I win?
An awesome-five for mentioning Penny Arcade's On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness.

Splitting is bow, crossbow, arrow, and bolt only. Ballista isint on the list. Ballista =/= big crossbow.

This of course assumes you're not using the epic rules.

Don't worry, you can totally just call your Huge Heavy Crossbow a Ballista.  That's what the DMG does.  In fact, you'd probably be better off doing so than using an actual ballista.  Heroes of Battle is pretty much just a straight nerf - significantly longer reload time, shorter range increment...

Unfortunately, you probably can't put Dancing on a ranged weapon.  Or if you can, it would be fairly pointless.  You'd be better off just getting an Arbalester homunculus and enchanting that.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Or a permanencied animate objects, awaken construct, and take on your now sentient splitting notballista-crossbow as a cohort and abuse the fact that it shooting bolts is now a natural attack and give it a necklace of Natural attacks with choice enchantments on it for double the tripled fun  ;)

Oh and class levels~

What about just casting minor servitor on it instead?
