Are tumbling bolts worth it?

Is the damage increase to crossbows worth the lower range you would have to deal with? especially on something like a hand crossbow?

For those who don't know tumbling bolts basically give you a +2 to damage on your attacks with crossbows, but your range increment is decreased by half. So using it with a light crossbow would lower your range increment from 80 ft to 40 ft

If you wanted range you'd pick the longbow.

Crossbows are mostly in sneak attack builds so the range loss means nothing to them.

Far shot practically fixes this. It comes attached to 8k worth of horizon goggles.

In short, it's either moot or fixed with an item.

Ranged weapons need all the damage bonuses they can get to keep relevant.

And that combined with a gnome crossbow sight would allow me to potshot away with relative safety...ok im feeling it. thanks.
