If SOPA passes...
« on: January 16, 2012, 08:33:54 PM »
The Stop Online Piracy Act, if implemented, can allow the government to shut down any site a corporation accuses of linking to pirated content (or a site that contains pirated content).

If such a thing happens, then we can lose a lot of handbooks and good work.

In such a case, we should transfer handbook content to a safe back-up place (like copy-pasted onto Word Documents and saved onto a CD) in case the worst happens.

Or am I worrying too much?

It's something you might want to do regardless, for whatever reason, but this is probably a better reason than most.

Even if it passes, there's a lot that can happen between passage and implementation that change how the bill works, especially one as poorly written as SOPA.
