Final Fantasy All-Stars thread 1
« on: September 07, 2012, 05:37:15 PM »
Praetorius Khyne is not in his office when you enter.  Others arrive as well, which surprises you -- it had seemed from the missive that this was to be a private meeting.  Such an occurrence would have been a great honor, as this Praetorius in particular has a reputation of extreme secrecy and paranoia, even among the secretive and paranoid Praesidio.

In point of fact, you've never actually seen Praetorius Khyne (not that you know of at least), nor has anyone you know.

And yet here you are, in his office, with other members of the Praesidio.  Some of you have met before; others are strangers.  After a few long minutes of awkwardness, you can't bear the silence anymore.

A man takes a seat on the other side of the desk, "Do you know why I called you guys in here today?"

"No, I don't. But it seems important." the subdued voice said, eyes staring out behind a black hood and veil. Veil respected Quigo's fashion sense, but could never tell when he was telling the truth or not. Which was annoying since she always seemed to be stuck doing missions with him.

Well, at least the winged guy is here. Whatever his name was, she thought. but the other three don't ring a bell.
Hmm.

On one side of the room, there is a tall raptorian dressed in the garb of one of city's courier services, who is presently being chatted up by a richly dressed orc, that is wearing a top hat and holding a walking stick which has an over abundance of feathers coming out the top.

As the man takes his seat, the orc stops talking and the pair seem to straighten just a little as they turn to face the desk. Neither replies immediately to the posed question, but the orc does give the winged individual a side glance, which seems to sigh and roll his eyes. The orc gets a slight smirk, "You have decided our services are no longer necessary and are handing out plots of land and titles for time served?"

A cute brunette in a yellow skirt rummages around looking at objects on various shelves.  She taps her rawhide boots on the ground and checks them quickly before replying in a bubbly fashion:

Hiya, Selphie Tilmitt!  Isn't it exciting?  All these people here, meeting some mysterious benefactor, its like some kinda spy play or something. Coo~ool!!

A scruffy halfling in a heavy trench coat sits in his chair with his hands in his pockets. He can't seem to stay still, but he's making an obvious effort to remain calm and silent.

A golem-like construct covered in spikes and holding a large polearm says in a voice dripping with sarcasm "Well, I doubt you called me here to suck your cock, although I can't say as much for the little chicky in the yellow skirt. Why don't you just tell us, and skip the guesswork?"

Speaking smoothly, "Now now pleasurebot, I've told you before that you need to get in line for that kind of thing.".

Kicking his feet up onto the desk, and using a more robust tone, "Actually I didn't call any of you guys in here but this chair is a bit more comfortable than the rest." He says this as his overall features change, not quite human, not quite fey, not quite... outworldly. With Quigo, it's just best not to focus on his looks as they tend to very minute to minute unless he's undercover or distracted but often he is clothed in some sort of shade of blue, often with a feathered wide brim hat.

Eying the faces in front of him and holding a look at the guy in the flasher trenchcoat "I'm sure I've met you all at some time, maybe in the back ally where I scoured my brain clean of the image under that coat, why don't we all go around introducing our selves." Stretching his arms out to the side, "Hi, I'm Quigo and 'spy' is such a dirty word. I prefer 'courtship with informational advantages'."

"I am called 'Veil' by those who are still living." the short cloaked figure says simply.

"And what about the we-don't-know-if-they-were-ever alive?" *nodding his head towards the irritated weapon of doom holding a very large weapon* "You know, you're awfully racist when you think about it."

The orc has a full grin on his face now, "Well I am glad we cleared up that whole name thing, could have been really troublesome later on if we needed to get your attention and we had died.” With a flourish of his hand he doffed his hat and tossed it into the air above him. As the hat descended, it grew smaller, but it was not the only thing doing so; the orc was reducing in size as well, his skin turning red, wings sprouting from his back, and a tail coiling around his feet. When the hat landed on his head, the changes seemed to be complete, and an imp stood in the orc’s place. In a much lighter voice the imp continues talking, “Ah, much better, I always feel crowded when I am that big. Anyways, to those that prefer to call me by more than ‘hey, you’, Malifium is my name, and this stick in the mud here is-.“ He gestures over to the birdman.

“Latoris…” Finished the raptorian, sounding annoyed as he did so.

“Oh come on, don’t be shy now,” Teased the little imp, as he poked his companion’s leg with the end of his stick.

The raptorian visibly sigh and then folded his arms. The likeness of the courier started to fade away in favor of a tall, well built humanoid, with fiendish red skin, and darkened wings. His attire was that befitting a monk in physical training.

"Well," booms a deep voice, "this is simply fascinating."

Suddenly standing in your midst is a tall, athletic man in dark clothing, with a sword at his belt.  He bears around his neck the badge of an Old Magus, and you can see that he openly displays the mark of a Praetorius of the Praesidio.

The slouching construct quickly snaps to attention and booms "Autonomous Independent Combat Unit 812 reporting for duty as requested, Sir!"

Yes, well AICU is eager to please. I am Drax Smythe of House Cannith, master alchemist, at your service.

Still uneasy in his chair with his feet not reaching the floor, Drax would clearly rather be elsewhere.

"Oh zombie Pelor, is it that bad you're making an official appearance?" Quigo says as he stands upright offering the seat behind the desk to his boss. After coughing polity he adds, "I mean, welcome sir. How might we be of assistance?"

"I don't know if I would call this gathering fascinating," Mumbled the imp, and then realizing he had spoken aloud added, "That is to say it is more likely just odd, sir."

Latoris gives Khyne a nod of greeting and a silent <<Sir.>>

To Drax he says "Most people call me Breaker, as that's what I do best. Break things." It takes those of you who've never met him to realize that the strange rasping, grinding sound coming from him must be what his laughter sounds like.

The young woman turns towards the Klyne:

Wooo! Appearing outta no where all mysterious like.  So coo~oool!  I better do something too!

There is an odd rippling of flesh as the young girl grows slightly taller, her face becoming more angular and cloths morphing into a tight-fighting white combat outfit.

Lighting here!  What's the mission?
