I wouldn't even know how to check an email in game... Do you mean via a /tell? Or do I have an email account? :p
They actually have an in-game mailing system you can use to send letters, items, and gold to offline players. In fact, after those runs last night you probably already have some mail for favor. To check it, do you recall where the banker was? It's due west from there, a floating/chiming/annoying thing. "Confirmed" is from the game and anyone on your friend's list while "unconfirmed" is everyone else.

Anyone else want to join? Phae made it to lv3 last night and is running a Cleric, I simply started at lv4 off my veteran bonus and I'm simply running a Warlock.

Eh w/e.

I really wish I could reincarnate my artificer but he's at level 28 and I need to hit 30 to pick up the epic reincarnate bonus, plus I need to run the Vale once or twice to finish off a MinII Heavy Repeater unless I just pick up some low cells. And that's where they get you too, just another million xp and just another run and you can start playing all over again!  :shakefist

All well, maybe once you get high enough I'll switch to my other monk.

Got the dwarf cleric to 9th and a halfling rogue  to 1/wiz 6 now. The rogue/wiz is a lot funner to solo with, just because it takes forever to kill anything with the dwarf (but he's a lot harder to kill himself). :p Hiring a cleric NPC helps a ton with the halfling, though, especially since I learned that you can have them pick up your soulstone and take it to the ressurection shrine... There's been a few occasions where I died early in a fight only to have my pet skeleton and cleric hireling finish off the encounter and cart my soulstone to the shrine to resurrect me. :D

Grats on 9th and getting the Wizard up there, we could probably run your first raid soon.

Speaking of, I played with a bow build some for some quick in-game feedback. If anyone else is wanting to jump in but finding character creation and the new dynamics confusing...

I suggest Human Rogue 1 / Ranger 6 using 8/18/14/10/12/8, take Point Blank Shot & Magical Training with Favored Enemy(undead). Precise Shot at level 3, and switch to Fighter after level 6 for four levels and Feats get pretty complicated but you'll want to finish out the chain for Shot on the Run and Weapon Specialization to negate penalties for kiting and add an extra +7% to your total damage calculation in the form of "ranged power". Arcane Archer for enhancements with Deepwood for Dex-To-Damage. It's free-to-play based, excellent survivability, great for solo, and should keep up damage wise with most end game builds which is why it seems a little complicated (and trust me the details are).

If you want a caster instead, I'd recommend Human Sorcerer taking both Maximize and Empower Spell at level 1 and focus on Cha/Con with about 10~12 Str for packing items, like D&D you do not really need Dexterity to hit people but you will want to dump your Skill Points into Spellcraft & UMD so 10 Int is kind of needed. All Enhancement-based SLAs ignore Spellpoint cost for Metamagic Feats allowing you to increase the damage they deal by +225%. At the third level or so you can use Electric Loop to smack a three enemies for an easy 60 damage and Daze them even if they survive and later one it can even generate extra Spell Points for you to use to nuke them with your actual Spells.

And if you want a pure brute, honestly I'd go with Fighter over Barbarian simply because the latter needs his hand held by a healer. Obviously take Power Attack and Cleave asap. If you want to be a spoony Bard through, I'd suggest some Ranks in Balance which is required for Single Weapon Fighting. Bards can use Bucklers while still using that Feat gain's +35% attack speed bonus as part of Swashbuckler.

Halfling is now rogue 2/wizard 6. I tried the Xorian quest last night in an Elite group... and was dismayed to find out that my cleric's Wis is too low (at 20) to activate some of the runes...

My son is going to start playing occasionally with me, on the weekends. I'm in China right now with my family, but going back to the US in two weeks while they stay here for another three. So the online game will be one way to do something with him. Is the Voice chat easy to use?

Yes & no, it's what I was trying to use with the laptop's built in but failed. Works fine with a headset through and it runs on a separate connection so in-game lag doesn't affect it even if you can't type into chat anymore.

Glad you're back too, I'll hope in game tomorrow or so and hope to catch you.

I probably won't be on much at all except a bit on the weekends for another two weeks. My wife took a 5 day solo Japan trip, and the kids were in school. So I had some alone time for the last week. :p Starting in two weeks, I'll probably be playing a bit at night, though.

My Warlock is getting a massive nerf :(

* Eldritch Blast's base damage is decreasing from 9d6 to 6d6.
* Eldritch Burst's damage is decreasing from 3d6 to 1d6.
* Spirit Blast's damage is decreasing from 10d6 to 4d6.
* Spiritual Retribution's damage is decreasing from 3d6 to 3d4.
These are huge changes, from 22d6 (616 @700ish spellpower) to 10d6+3d4 (340).
So yeah, running around dealing 1/2 damage will suck balls.

Buuuuuut Artificers are getting buffed!
* You no longer run at half speed for using your Runearm.
* They fire 30% faster.
* The -40~-10% Spellpower penalty on Runearm shots has been removed.
* Runearm Imbue now scales with 200% Spellpower.
* Enhancements rehualed, freebie +15 MRR/PRR, extra +2 int, Fusillade went from lasting 6 seconds to 18, new choices include +10% double strike & +20 ranged power, lots of goodies here. Really thinking of TRing if this goes live.

Edit - Also a few packs are just not selling so they buffed loot from there. To give you an idea of their desperation the Sharn Syndicate's Bellow's Ring is Minimum Level 2 and if the change goes live it'll now offer a staggering +60hp (plus it's unbound, but will probably be overpriced for a few weeks). Red Ferns's loot got some buffs but nothing huge there.

Got on this weekend with my son because they’re running a deal to let anyone start new characters at level 10... and found that the guild I’d been in was gone...

So to repoke the thread.

Logging in now till April 1st will give you a cosmetic item (forces all your armor to look like X). Is anyone interested in trying it out? It's free, join Cannith and I can toss some healing pots your way, and due to the level ranges on Quests you don't have to worry too much if you play more than someone else.

I logged in a few months ago. It took forever to update... They were letting people level up to 10th for free, so my son and I made a couple of new characters to try out. We haven't been on since that couple of hours that night. :D

Cool, did you find a new class you liked?

I made a multiclassed barb/rog/ftr and a sorcerer. I liked both. (I wanted some characters with high DPS. I was tired of thumping away forever with the cleric when soloing, and the rogue/wizard was only slightly better). My son made a couple of others, but wound up liking his original ranger better in the end.

If you wanted some DPS all you had to do was ask :D

I'm not sure what you have access to, presumably lv4 & PB32 by now, you could make a Human Sorcerer 4. Str 14, Con 16, Cha 18, rest 8s. Focus on Spellcraft & UMD for now. Take Maximize & Empower at level 1 then Quicken at lv3, Metamagic's simply consume Spell Points so you don't need higher level 'Slots' and they are totally free with Spell-like Abilities.

Assuming level 4, focus entirely on Air Savant. Take Shocking Grasp x3 and open your Character Sheet, click the tab to Enhancements, drag it to your hotbar, right click on it and turn all your Metamagic Feats on. For the rest of your AP Electrocution & Alternating Current x3, this will give you two lovely things. The first is up to +25 spellpower and the second is you have a 30% chance to generate 3sp, which is great given Shocking Hands costs 2sp. Take the Core ability (bottom row) once more and then Critical increase.

Your Spellpower should look like Spellcraft_Modifier (idk 7 or more after buffs), +20 (air cores), +12 (16ap spent in air), +42 (equipment: magnetism +42, it's ml4), +25 (electrocution), +150 (maximize), +75 (empower), plus you can add Guild/Potion bonuses on top of that so your shocking Grasp will deal (5d3+15)+331%, or about 140ish damage every four seconds without even denting your Spell Points. At level 6 you can take the 3rd Core Ability increasing the base damage to 6d3+18, and you'll obtain access to the SLA version of Electric Loop x3. It deals about the same damage (reflex halves), but strikes everyone nearby and makes them Save against being Dazed. You can take Heighten at level 6 and apply apply all your Metamagics to it. The net gain is a Spell usable once per five seconds that hits everything and probably deals like 180 damage at that point then most trash is rendered helpless while you "Touch" anything that survived and wait for the cooldown to be over. And we haven't even talking about the Spells that will actually drain your spell Points yet.  :D

My 30th level Sorcerer is actually an Air Sav focused on Fire, will clickies I think he hits like 900 Spellpower with Scorching Ray (not even an SLA) dealing something a bit over a thousand damage per casting and it barely dents his Spell Points thanks to almost always gaining +13sp back. The main difference is Fire sucks against several Raid bosses (like all the devils), but Immolation gives you a free 20d6+Spellpower source of damage that ticks every two seconds while Air's Conduction only applies Vulnerability (target takes +20% more dmg) which I apply just by throwing a Shuriken while waiting on cooldowns.

Thanks to being offline for 8 months my sorcerer is unguilded for me to grab a screen shot. So here, have a picture of my lv28 Monk smacking a a training dummy and dealing over six thousand damage without even having all of his buffs applied.

Chat has also taken up some attention, since it's logged/multichannel/editable you can chat in there and get a faster response without worrying about remaining logged in.

I could just respec the sorcerer I already made and leveled up to 10th, right? (Although honestly I don't know when/if I'll ever have time to play this...) And I thought I'd read somewhere that they'd started charging spell points to apply metamagic to SLAs?...

Depends on the Feats obviously, it gets pretty expensive to replace them all if you need to.

And what you're probably talking about is SLAs are not affected by total cost reduction, like Magical Efficiency can reduce the cost of Spells by 10% but not SLAs.
