Fina grasps the woman's hands, her eyes shining with a figurative inner fire. "We'll find your son! We'll find him and bring him home safely!"

Grey relays Korth's reply mentally to the others and adds <Let's not let on that we are suspicious of her for now, and as one of our first orders of business investigating this, we'll keep an eye on her...

Anyone particularly good at that?>

Mrs. Yanques gets a somewhat worried look on her face shortly after you grab her hands.
Oh, dear. I thank you too for your help, but are you sure you should be going with them? I wasn't going to say anything about your flush-faced friend, what with the way your kind can have all kinds of different features, but lady, you are running very ill.
Maybe you should let the others handle things until they need you while you get some bed rest. You can come inside with me and I can set you up some very nice tea, if you like.

Grey messages to Fina <This is an excellent opportunity. If you'll let me link our minds, we can stay in mental contact for a half hour before we need to renew it. Then you can check the old lady out while the rest of us are out looking around the neighborhood.>

Kelzan made no physical reaction to the voices suddenly in his head, though he subconsciously made the effort to quiet his mind. By his thinking, so as not to cause interference or give anything away of himself. They seemed interesting, but he didn't know them just yet. "I can easily cover for the loss of her. Take a rest, until you feel more yourself, miss." He gave a polite bow to Fina, and made a move as if to offer to help her into the home, though he gave a knowing look to the others. "The docks, I think, would suit nicely."

"Why, yes, I have been traveling in the cold for some time. Perhaps a bit of a rest and some tea would be nice." Fina smiles, a bit more weakly than before. All part of the act, though her words were sincere; she had been traveling a long distance, and the rainy weather seemed colder than she was accustomed to.

"Get well Fina. We'll see you a bit later." Gesturing to his face, "Don't worry about me, this is just a birthmark of sorts. I actually get less flushed when I'm sick." To his companions, "We should be off running down some leads then." Korth turns to head back down the alley.

Grugruk turns and walks back towards the walkway entrance. His hounds' leashes in one hand, the man's scarf in his other, he approaches his wolf. Holding the scarf up under Korth's muzzle, he gives a simple command, Track! Repeating the process with each of his hounds, Grugruk was confident that if there was any trace of the man's scent, his hounds would let him know.

Grey says nothing, and simply follows the others. He does establish a Mindlink with Fina before leaving, though.

@ Party

As you come upon where Grik (the wolf) was left at the entryway to the alleyway to the house, you see a person before the wolf.
A woman, about 35 years of age, looking at the large dire wolf with wide eyes. Blonde hair and brown eyes, she is taller than normal, it would seem (5'11"). She is dressed in bright colours, but is clutching a piece of drab cloth to her chest. She seems afraid to pass it, or even get any closer than 15' from the wolf.

Standing rigidly still, blatantly afraid to move, her eyes dart in your direction as the group comes into view of her.
"Help! Are you coming from Mrs. Yanques? I need to tell her about what just happened, but this creature is in the way. Can one of you do something about the beast. Oh great, more fangs."
She mumbled something as she noticed the other dogs, growing more uneasy, and if it were possible, more rigid.

@ Fina
"Well, come on in young miss."
She holds the door open for you. Walking in, you notice her house is very minimalist. You see areas for cooking, sewing, storage for food and clothing, a table with chairs, a bed. Everything but the stove is made of wood, and though the one-room house is very modest, the furniture is all exceptionally well made. She steps forward in what would likely be an attempt at brisk but mannerly pace, but her aged body doesn't quite let her. She pulls out a chair at the table.
"Come now miss, please have a seat."
She then sets to work on the stove's range, putting the tea on.
"Won't be but a moment mam, this pot's designed to boil fast. Been a while since I did all of this for one of your kind."
Her face tweaks a bit, like a thought occurres.
"You're not going to try to flirt with me like Zarack used to, are you?"
She smiles at you, and at her little joke.

Grugruk sees the girl and whistles around his teeth, quite a feet considering their size. Capturing Grik's attention, he snaps his fingers and points to the ground. Grik drops to the ground laying on the floor of the alley way. Sorry 'bout that.

Fina blushes, but just smiles at the woman's joke.

To Grey, she thinks, <<Have you heard of a 'Zarack'? I'm not familiar with the name, but the woman just mentioned it in passing when referring to 'people like', well, me. As in me, and not her.>>

"Take your time with the tea. I'm glad to be out of the rain. Thank you again for your kindness!"

"Actually, we are assisting her in an issue of some grave matter. What is this matter of importance, if I may ask?" Again with the exceedingly polite behavior, Kelzan put himself between the dog and the side of the alley, and offered an arm as if leading her way towards the old woman's door. The whole time, you doubt if he'd taken his eyes off of the woman. No feat, as he stood just barely taller than her, though he seemed to have pulled his head back to reveal the strange crown on his head. "All apologies if we have caused you any concern, I'm sure these noble beasts would never have caused a lady any harm."

Grey replies to Fina mentally <Zarack was a blessed blood who gained some fame leading other blessed bloods to solve problems around this area about 15 years ago. He always kept his face hidden, and hasn't been heard of in some time, although some of his former colleagues are still around.>

"Actually, we are assisting her in an issue of some grave matter. What is this matter of importance, if I may ask?"

I have no idea how to font this. As she talks, her speech pace gets quicker and louder, as if trying to hold back hysterics.

"We were just attacked! We went up to the trade-way to see if any new clay shipments have come in from the near-lands for me to work with, my husband helps carry it when there's too much for me alone, but suddenly I felt something against the back of my head, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up on the ground with curious people around me, and all there was of my husband was his shirt... and look how torn it is."

When she holds up the drab cloth, you can see three cut marks. One across the right side of the collar, one across the left shoulder, and the only one with blood in it is diagonal where the stomach would be. Even that one cut doesn't have much blood.

"She's the one who's trying to take charge of getting this all stopped and dealt with. Most of the rest are more than glad to have her help since she used to deal with the special ones like your friends."

She recoils, taking a step backwards even. As the clue-by-four smacks her pretty hard.

"Oh, are you one too? Are you here to talk with her about helping us? Are you going to help us? Was she home?"

@Fina
(speaking of women with fire)

Mrs. Yanques gets up and checks on the water, then starts shuffling around in the pantry-cupboard near to the stove. She sets out two cups, rather large for tea-cups (~16oz), and two other clay jars. She sets about opening one up, and pulling the leaves of the tea out of it and tossing it into the water. she then pulls out two metal mini-strainers that were in the jar with the tea.
She puts the strainers over the cups, and pours out the tea. She then mixes in something out of the other jar into both cups, scooping out the gel and mixing it with the same spoon.

"Well, here you go miss. Sorry if it's a bit sweater than you're used to, this stuff might cost a bit, but it'll help cure what ails you well enough."

With a reassuring smile, and a gentle pat of her hand which he seemed to have taken along with the shirt, the elf removes his hood. The crown shines brightly, and though his head is politely down-turned, his eyes look up into hers. "She is, and we are; we've taken the job and hope to see it completed very soon. Though I am sorry for your husband and this traumatic event, his capture may provide us with just the necessary initiative to speed these fiend's capture!" He hands the shirt back to the beastmaster Grugruk, with a sudden vigor in his voice and actions. "Can your magnificent beasts capitalize on this, and track the scent from here?"
