This is a scene for both Nanashi and Spider

Koto looks up at the two of you sternly. She's just managed to pull you into some semblance of order, after having spent the last couple moments of time forcing you into kimono. Even she looks a bit more put together than normal.

"Okay, don't embarrass me. And try and act appropriately before the Magic Queen; she has a quick trigger finger."

She sighs.

"Right then, off we go."

She leads the two of you out of the shrine grounds, hanging a "The shrine maiden is OUT" sign on the torii as she passes under it. It's been about a week since you first arrived in the Old Capital, so you have a vague idea of where you're going. Today, Koto's taking you to the Tamamo Palace to see the Magic Queen. Apparently it's a good idea for her to know about you, or something. Eventually, after following a number of roads and utterly losing your bearings, you arrive at a rather stately castle.

"Well then, don't take to long."

I give Koto a look as I tug at my kimono. Deprived of my usual diet of soda and junk food, I've lost a little weight, but I still look ridiculous.

"I still can't believe we have to wear these," I mutter softly.

Nanashi keeps his hands in the sleeve pockets of his Kimono. He can't help but waddle his arms a little bit with all the fabric around them. He feels like he looks somewhat similar to a penguin. "I actually kinda like it, it helps me connect with my heritage in a way I wouldn't think I'd get the chance to~"

"So, not to be the idiot of the group, but... Could you go over the plan once more? What should we tell her? 'Hey, two mayflies here, looking for our souls' seems a like it might get us shot."

Koto sighs.

"Look, I already went over this. You're introducing yourselves to her. You're going to be taken before her. Bow. Introduce yourselves. Answer any questions she has for you. Leave."

Koto pushes the two of you through the gate to the castle.

Two masked guards step out of the shadows.

"Follow us."

The lead you through the rather labyrinthine and ornate passages of the caste. Eventually, you arrive in a particularly fancy room. Before you, sitting on a throne and quite clearly the Magic Queen you've been sent to meet, sits the Magic Queen.

I fall to the ground in the best kowtow I can manage. This is hindered by both the skirts and my general lack of grace, but I manage. Somehow.

"Your Majesty, I am Spider, your Grace," I say into the floor. "If it please your Ladyship, we have been instructed to answer any questions you might have for us, oh Dread Lady."

"Hmph. You're from a different world then? And staying with the Koto? Very well. I place you under my protection. Welcome to the Old Capital."

Wait, the Koto? Not just Koto, the Koto? I open my mouth to demand an explanation, then remember the guards. God, I hate guards. They make me so nervous.

Still, the Koto. That's...I'm not sure what that is. I'm not sure what anything is.

I stand up meekly, with my head bowed. "Thank you, your Honor. Is there anything else you require of us, oh Mighty One?"

Ah, wait one moment. You with the unfortuitous name. Are you aware of the connotations it carries? I would advise you to refer to yourself as Sekka in the future. It will attract less attention."

"Ah, yes. If you refer to the meaning, I know what the word means, but if there is some special connotation it has, I would be grateful if you were to elucidate the reason why it is unfortuitous."

The guards escort you back to the castle's front gate, where Koto meets you.

"Well then" she says "with that out of the way, I have some people to introduce you to."
