There is a lot of pain on the Link, which hits just after Star’s warning comes on the Link about two seconds before the dismay on the Link from groups 3, 4, and 5, followed by group 7. {Star} Forbiddance! That’s what blocked our Gates at 3, 4, and 5! Groups 7-8-9-10, we’re flying into it!

The PlanTM has been for the groups 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 to enter in very quick succession, since their primary mission is to provide a distraction from group 10 whose mission is to get to the slave pens and rescue the slaves, if they are there... and they had already lost ‘surprise’ time compared to groups 1, 2, and 6 because they came via Earthglide instead of via Gate. Since groups 1, 2, and 6 didn’t run into anything worse than Alarm, groups 3, 4, and 5 bolted into their locations as soon as they could, and spilled out of the ceiling right through Glyphs and into a Forbiddance. Now the earlier three Earthgliding groups are putting a flow of information on the Link which matches well what Magic group 7 is reporting, not at all like groups 1, 2, and 6.

Group 8 knows what may be coming, but they have to soldier through it… they are a key distractor, the only ones in area EE, and are also the only source of intelligence in area EE, so they have to go in as fast as possible to see what the enemy is doing, giving the enemy as little chance as possible to scatter or hide. However, with the few extra seconds of warning beyond what group 7 had, Vir8 does have the opportunity to keep the parrot cloud in the Bag where he put them on the way here, but they will be locked in; the parrots may not fare too well against the Forbiddance damage, and Vir8 can always Earthglide into the rock and out of the Forbiddance if he wants to let them out a little later.

Steeling themselves for the pain, the whole group Earthglides down out of the ceiling into the location marked with an 8 on the map, and emerges in battle ready positions in the air, flying as planned.

The location looks about as expected from the map. You are in a curving corridor. The floor is blocks of polished stone. The walls have carved designs. The ceiling is carved as well, about thirty feet high.

To the south, the corridor curves west out of sight; the map says it continues for some distance. To the north, the corridor opens out into a larger area.

This open area has a taller ceiling, nearly 50 feet in height, with lot of small buildings and cages across the broad expanse of floor. In the briefing, Janis said they were loaded with supplies and other various and sundry items, but the storage cages stand open and mostly empty, with some trash and broken wooden boxes and barrels strewn about, with their cracked slats and barrel staves, as if it had been emptied out in a hurry.

Ror8’s demolitions target is a few feet along the corridor to the south according to the combat map; you’re almost exactly at the point to place the explosive charge.

There is a very slight play of breezes. There is no sound of the river.

Vir8 senses Magic all around in the 30ft of corridors and the open area visible. Ror8 senses the same, for 60ft to the extent that much corridor and open area are visible. Their senses do not penetrate the corridor walls. Both sense that a Spell just triggered. The Detect info on the Link allows Ror8 and Halt8 to recognize an Alarm Spell, via Spellcraft.

They also see two different Glyphs painted Magically on the floor, ceiling, and walls, including all over the big expanse of area EE, that are not otherwise visible: Ghoul Glyph, and Glyph of Warding with Shivering Touch. Explosive Runes are loaded onto the Glyph of Warding so that someone who tries to Read the Glyph will set them off. However, like the groups before them they have not Read the Glyph; they simply recognized it, via Spellcraft, and did not have to Read it to bypass it – the normal procedure – because absolutely everyone, including parrots, has Nondetection from the ScryBubblegum, which foils both Glyphs – they realize this through their Spellcraft. Neither one triggers, so Reading them is not necessary. Also Ror8 senses the proper way to pass the Glyph with Find The Path; it’s not necessary to Read it. There isn’t a password, but he senses that his Alignment shifts to LE. Tanatou8 also senses this shift in Ror8.

There is also a lot of pain, as they were warned.

Via Spellcraft they too confirm a Forbiddance in place, and Ror8 knows for sure via Find The Path that it has no password, instead his Alignment presents LE to the Forbiddance as well, as the correct way to pass the Forbiddance.

Ror8 takes no damage. Everyone else takes damage as follows; no one has enough SR to matter. WILL Save DC 22 for half (and remember you roll twice, take the better +2, plus whatever other bonuses – but not the parrots… if they need to save because they’re out of the Bag; they’re not on the Link with Star – but the parrots do get +2 Luck bonus from Janis).

On the Link: Great idea, Ror4.  Ror8 discharges some of the rituals he has stored: Lesser Ritual of Deflection, Spell Ritual: Invisibility Purge, Spell Ritual: Ectoplasmic Feedback, Spell Ritual: Wraithstrike.  He takes a quick look around to see if the Invisibility Purge revealed anything besides the party, and then immediately dismisses it, so that the group becomes invisible again.  Then he charges a quickened Lesser Ritual of Healing, which takes 1 round.  Upon completing the Lesser Ritual of Healing, he discharges it, coupled with a Lesser Circle of Good Hope.  Everyone, make sure you're within 30' of me.  I'm giving all of us healing.  Everyone within 30' of Ror8 gains Fast Healing 5 for the next 33 rounds.

Once the Ritual of Healing is Discharged, Ror8 begins placing the explosives.  Once you're all healed up, while I'm placing the demolitions, I suggest we scout a bit.  Halt8 and Vir8, why don't you head a little ways to the mouth of the tunnel into the Storage Area - not too far, but just enough to give us a little warning when someone comes our way.  Halt8, I suggest you Earthglide in the wall next to Vir8.  Vir8, if you have any trouble, Earthglide.  Sheerak8 and Halfaz8, you two scout up the tunnel into the Warrens a little bit, to watch our backs.  Same advice for you about Earthgliding.  Everyone make sure to put everything on the link. Tanatou8, watch my back while I'm placing the demolitions.

I believe Halt8 has the "Natural 1 is not Autofail" thing, so he automatically makes his save.

Ror8 does NOT dismiss the Invisibility Purge, but does continue with the Ritual of Healing and then placing demolitions.

While the description of location8 went onto the Link accurately from several pairs of eyes, that didn’t include Ror8… he has been seeing dense fog and nothing else. On the other hand (eye), Ror8’s multiple Detects have been giving him a lot of information, and others’ group8 visuals on the Link, not impeded by fog, are sufficient to keep him on track. By Spellcraft, Ror8 confirms that the fog here is from Guards and Wards, which is the discussion on the Link.

Group8 stays close in the corridor as they take charge of their tasks and get Healing from Ror8.

Halfaz8, Vir8 and Tanatou8 stand guard while without any difficulty, Ror8 gets his tasks done exactly as planned. After discharging the Rituals, Ror8 feels along the carved stone ceiling for the intersection of the two central support arches in this part of the corridor that he saw on the group8 visuals before the fog became visible, and he sets the charge with gum in it, and in him, ready to blow out the structural supports at his thought.

Trying to keep out of the way in close quarters, Sheerak8 is actively Listening in the corridor, as Halt8 keeps watch toward open storage area EE for any surprises. There is a very slight play of breezes. There is no sound of the river; the location has the silence of death.

The Healing from Ror8 takes about 30 seconds to make everyone whole again. During those 30 seconds, Ror8 finishes getting the explosive charge ready and in place, so all in the party are finished at once and ready for whatever they are doing next.

Group8 is now surrounded by a visible fog cloud at least 80 feet across that keeps shifting in size and blocks all vision, and the group is running on non-visual senses on the Link for all to share.

Everyone is together at location8, or within a few feet of it. Everyone is healed, Ror8 has placed the demolition charge, and he and Halfaz8, Vir8 and Tanatou8 are in a tight cluster next to it while Halt8 and Sheerak8 are very close by, just to the north, actively Listening in the corridor with special attention toward open area EE, storage to the north. Toward area EE there is a faint play of breezes, but deep silence, with neither sound nor scent carried on the air in either direction north or south.

Group8 is surrounded by a visible fog cloud at least 80 feet across that keeps shifting in size and blocks all vision, and the group is running on non-visual senses on the Link for all to share. According to the map, the fog cloud runs from location8 well into area EE to the north. Everyone with Tremorsense is standing on the rock floor, to use it, while everyone without Tremorsense is hovering just off the floor.

Ror8 and Halfaz8 start up the corridor toward the storage area EE, inside the fog cloud; Halfaz8’s Blindsight serves them perfectly to stay on track. They travel about ten feet and suddenly… pain! …much like Halfaz8 experienced on arrival. Both of them had a sense of going through another, similar barrier to passage, though Ror8 did not experience it as painful.

Sensing here with Ror8’s Detects and Spellcraft shows much the same set of Effects in place here as in location8 ten feet over there: a tube of Glyphs and Runes, filled with an Alarm (which he can tell they triggered), Guards and Wards, and a Forbiddance.

Ror8 takes no damage. Halfaz8, 21 HP damage, a bit less intense than right at location8; WILL Save DC 22 for half (and remember you roll twice, take the better +2, plus whatever other bonuses including +2 Luck bonus from Janis). Also remember, Fast Healing 5 still in effect.

Vir and Sheerak try the polymorph LE trick referenced by their other copies, becoming devils temporarily to have the LE subtypes.

First Sheerak8 and Vir8 Polymorph into Barghests and rush to catch up. Halt8 stops short as Sheerak8 and Vir8 join Ror8 and Halfaz8. Then Halt8 changes to a Barghest and lopes after them, comes up to the group, stops and changes back to his usual form.

For Tanatou8, a Paladin and a Barghest are rather incompatible!! And he has enough trouble already resisting urges to Feed …even if changing to a Barghest is a clever solution. He stalks into the next area following after the others, at least for now simply steeling his WILL to resist the damage and taking as little as possible. He pushes past the rest of group8 to a point he is sure is far enough away from the blast to avoid damage according to Janis’ instructions… barely… and stops.

As Barghests, Halt8, Sheerak8, and Vir8 look like they are part wolf, part Goblin, and all vicious, with gaping jaws and razor claws, blue skin with traces of red, and glowing orange eyes... at least, that’s the self-image on the Link, since the fog cloud makes the visuals little more than a misty gray. The delicious aroma of their humanoid companions is at once tantalizing and horrifying. With a little difficulty, they are able to fight off the extremely strong urge to feed on their companions, by far a Barghest’s favorite dinner.

Halt8, Sheerak8, and Vir8 take no damage from the Forbiddance; it worked!

To anticipate the question, at this point the party is far enough from the blast not to take damage from it… at least, not much. If at all. Really. If you don’t mind a little rock shrapnel.

As Ror8 hustles down the corridor and into storage area EE another 40 feet, he passes through four more feelings of resistance, about every 10 feet. Ror8 takes no damage.

Tanatou8 shakes his head, and sinks into the floor, since there are no walls on the map where Ror8 has gone. On the Link, he follows Star’s combat map imaging as best he can, counting paces carefully and keeping his facing exactly in line and just beneath the floor, and climbs out again as straight up as he can manage, right about where Ror8 is, making sure he on far side of the resistance Ror8 felt; he takes a few more steps to move away from it, but short of where he thinks the next one might be. He waits for Halt8, Vir8, and Sheerak8 to transform and join them.

40 feet takes Ror8 into storage area EE, just at the top of the divide between the west part and the east part on the combat map on the Link. By moving slightly toward the west side, which is the more open area, the spot is screened from the blast site. Neither sound, nor any smell other than a bit of dust, is in this area.

Sheerak and Vir spread out a bit, scouting but not leaving line fo sight with the rest of the group.  Sheerak stays on the ground to benifit from Treamorsense.
