Everyone will want a few feats? Are the feats honestly worth anything? :huh

Some of them are. Alert, Elemental Adept...
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Double thanks to DictumMm and IlPaz.  Sweeet.
I figured somebody had taken a hard(-er) look at it.

So they really are almost Vegas odds.
56% chance of getting a 16+ for a high stat.
~51% chance the 4d6 rolls are better than the Standard Array.
Once more details are known, I'd risk that almost every time.

Hypothetical worse (not quite worst) case scenario
all -1sd down, would get a 12 , 11 , 10 , 9 , 7 , 5 rolled.
So there'd need to be that leeway I mentioned.
Some classes will end up being OK even with bad stats.

And of course there's no proof I just rolled straight 18s
or whatever else it is I rolled ...  :tongue :P

Feats ... I had read that War Caster was a really good idea
for a quickly thrown together Wizard.  I've played 3 gaming
sessions so far, with perhaps 1 biffed use of the feat.

I'm gonna try to negotiate a retrain into Alert feat,
especially since y'know I really had no idea what
I was doing at character creation level zero time.

But yeah, feats are right in the middle of the stats minigame.

Alert and Lucky seem pretty solid for any character.
The feats that increase an ability score by 1 can occasionally be the best way to fix an odd stat (if you really don't need the +1 to another ability too) (but this is not that much of a "feat vs ability increase" thing).
Dungeon Delver can be the counter to bad DMs that use way too many traps. Make the rogue pick this and speedrun any dungeon.
Mounted Combat gives advantage on melee vs creatures smaller than your mount and other benefits, in some campaigns this is very strong. I can imagine low level mounted rogues SAing every turn with no help needed.
Sentinel makes a half-decent lockdown on it's own.

These are some useful feats.

Actually, why don't we start a different thread for evaluating feats?

Hey sure, take the honors.

Half-Orc ... has the Crit thing
RogAss 3 , Alert feat is perfect for this
FightChamp 3 and 15
Barb 9 , 13 and 17
and then we're already going sideways to Crits for support material.
Still, some combo would hit pretty hard, assuming damage is a good tactic.
Crit fishing might be a possible tactic, after Magic Items show up.

Mountain Dwarves, I'd say, are the slightly stronger choice: +2 to STR and CON makes for a great fighter
Looks like Fistbeard Beardfist might be making an appearance in 5e.

You mean his more druidic cousin?

There's a few ways to get Bear going.

Monk gets a Beard into play.
Disguise Self for a "beard".
Alter Self for a beard natural weapon.
