Gaming Advice / Immunities
« on: July 26, 2015, 08:24:22 PM »
A recent post by Kethrian (Improved Ranger (3.5)), mentions immunity to mind affecting, as well immunity to poisons. Seeing this made me wonder about immunities in general. Can immunities be voluntarily removed, if the character so chooses. An example of a situation of this happening would be in relation to a Bard's Inspire Greatness, which is a mind-affecting ability, but can potentially be beneficial. Is this to be treated like SR, which generally can be lowered/removed by the character, or not at all.

Homebrew and House Rules (D&D) / Re: Barbarian Powered Up Rewrite
« on: July 03, 2015, 08:08:16 AM »
Just a thought, after considering the class concept a little. If the barbarian is supposed to be fairly tank-like, would some sort of party defender be out of line? I am thinking an ability to redirect attacks from allies to the barbarian, or deflecting incoming ranged attacks. In this way a barbarian could help protect those party members who are in danger of being severely injured. The deflecting of melee attacks could even be a staged affair, with it initially spreading the damage between the original target and the barbarian, or some such method.

I believe that an enclosed room filled with these would be fairly devastating

I think you missed my point... Since the God's are the source of the Cleric's spells, and they can cast Arcane spells, like fireball, using your logic and reasoning, it should be like a Wizard with a divine spell in their spellbook, and thus a Cleric should be able to memorize all their 3rd level spells as Fireball, which is quite spectacularly NOT a cleric spell.

Hey I know, while you're at it, allowing Wizards to cast Divine spells, let's let Cleric's cast Fireball, or Meteor Swarm. I mean they get their spells from the Gods, and the God's are supposedly able to do arcane magic.

A catch counts as a hit, it just doesn't deal damage.

Gaming Advice / Using a Metapsionic twice
« on: May 13, 2012, 03:40:14 AM »
Here's a quandry, can you use a single metapsionic twice to augment the same power, so long as you have 2 psionic foci (your personal one + Psicrystal containment)

Gaming Advice / Re: Twinning a Wish

If everyone can recall that Wish is not the only spell out there that can do this, Miracle and Reality Revision also accomplish the task of conferring inherent bonuses. And as a Psion with the Overchannel feat, is is quite simple to twin Reality Revision by 20. A Cleric can cast Miracle, and Twin it using Divine Metamagic, So there are alternatives to only using Wish.

Okay, a problem I have pose to one of my friends, can you use twin spell, or twin power for psionics, on a wish like spell to get an inherent +5 bonus for cheap (like 10000xp)

Well, if anyone really thinks about it, spells like Prayer, Bless, or Recitation are all burst effects centered on the caster, which specifically stipulate who they effect, although most do it in the "Area" descriptor. The main thing to really look at there is that, unless they say things like "all allies" they effect all creatures, including the caster. Also, with regards to Recitation, the text ALWAYS supercedes the stat block.
