Magiries and Barrin walk to the other end of the ravine and see an easier way up than the way that they came down.  As they climb out they hear the rustling of something large moving through the woods back at the end of the ravine they went into, and after hearing stories of the beast in the woods they decide there's no reason to fight and instead head back towards town to rejoin their companions.

The sun is beginning to go down and it is starting to rain.

Enar doesn't mind being a bit wet, it's kinda inevitable when working on a ship at sea, and at least now it's sweet water splashing on her instead of salty stuff.

Ah, good to see you! Was about to go to the woods myself to look for you since you were gone for so long. Found anything useful? On my side the goats may just be the nicest locals from this island, also their place is filled with materials we could use to build some barricades, plus some ship wreckage.

"Oh, wonderful, rain. Well, we had better go start a fire and find some shelter; it's not like we're going to be getting dryer.

I found this talisman; I'm mildly concerned by it, but it's probably nothing of dire consequence. Something for warding off evil spirits?"

Aval is going to look increasing like a wet rat the longer you stay in the rain.

"How did your search through the woods go?"

I found a sacrificial alter in a cave, couple extra bucks we probably can't spend here, a lovely dagger painted in the blood of the townsfolk, and these. Teferi says holding up a the rolled up scrolls he grabbed earlier.

(Can I ID the scrolls? I have the ritual magic feat, so at least some of them should be in my effective spell list, assuming I'm correct in assuming you mean spell scrolls)

"Hey give them here"
Aval eagerly examines the scrolls and their contents.

"Hmm, given that, I think I'm reinstating my theory that there's an cult somewhere around here. I had worked myself out of that particular panic while I was trying to find you, so thank you for that." While saying that, he gesticulates with the teeth-amulet he found.

Aval muses for a second or two, then proceeds to speculate wildly.

"Dracolich cultists? Seems possible. Maybe they're summoning something?"

"Well, that ain't a spell. Some kinda devilry more like. Or fey-ry, I guess? But they made a incautious deal with something, and now there's something horrible in these hills, I guess? Won-der-ful"

Enar insntantly draws her sword instantly at hearing the mention of 'devilry', then slowly sheats it again when hearing the rest of the explanation.

A pact with fey? When will people learn? If you're gonna do such a thing, at least do it with a proper deity.

Don't suppose that paper has the deal's details? We need to know the place we're supposed to defend.

Either way I say we should confront the crones with this document, even if they don't offer a proper explanation they may become more cooperative. Time is running short.

"Souls+Money for Power+Xenophobia, is the most I can get out of it. The deal was a while ago, and these guys have an incomprehensible dialect at the best of times."

"If you think confronting them is the best idea, sure. I suspect they can deny everything."

That does explains some things about this island.

And it's fine if they deny it as long as they prove more cooperative. They work with us against the undead, and we don't go around spreading the tale about how they sold their souls to fairies.

"Well, sold their soul to *something*, all I know is that it has a 'queene'. But it's worth a shot. And if they're the ones summoning things. well, at least we're over with it quickly."

He mutters under his breath "Or dead quickly, whichever"

Maybe they are all undead disguised as the living, who knows. Did you guys want to see the cave?

"If we stick together for talking to the crones, we should have a higher chance of pulling through by being able to support each other. Although before that, there's something else we can try first..."

The sailor paladin looks at Elisande nearby, slowly approaches the girl, kneels down so they're at same eye height, then speaks to her with the softest voice and smile she can muster:

"Hi there sweetie, would you mind telling big sis Enar if you know anything about fairies, a queene or any pact in this island? It's for a very important matter, and I'll give you a nice treat if you do so."
