The hissing canister is quickly found and firmly sealed without any further fuss. The tunnel still reeks, but what gas lingers doesn't seem strong enough to cause any short-term issues.

The occupants of the subway car watch listlessly through the windows, wedged against each other but making no move to escape. They don't seem panicked at all, in fact, despite having been present for the whole affair. A little girl stares at Kitty with placid eyes, one small hand clamped around the string of a balloon long since burst. Perhaps it's the foxfire lighting the tunnel, but her skin seems slightly off-colour.

With the canister sealed, Kitty's composure starts to crack. A snort, then a giggle. Then, she spontaneously explodes into gales of laughter, holding her stomach. "Give auntie a kiss! Oh! Oh..." She tries and fails a number of times to calm down before her amusement finally peters out, short on breath, close to tears, and with a thoroughly red face. "That tea party... is going to be great."

As soon as she's composed herself enough to sound serious, Lilly calls an ambulance in a voice that sounds nothing like her. She waves at the little girl and checks her temperature - not that she knows how to diagnose cyanide poisoning.

The operator who picks up listens to Kitty explain the situation with growing horror. "I'll send the paramedics over at once. What did you say your name was?" The girl's skin feels clammy to the touch, and she doesn't react to Lilly - or indeed, move at all apart from her eyes.

"Lisa Müller," Kitty lies without delay, or planning to actually be there when the ambulance comes for that matter.
With that call done, she surreptitiously slips money for a new baloon into the little girl's pocket and ushers the other two away and back towards the subway entrance they used. "Alright, tactical retreat and regroup. I don't want to explain all this nonsense to the police. And those so-called construction workers aboveground are probably just as fishy as the ones we just dumped."

By the time Kitty, Leo, and Phil surreptitiously emerge from the subway, ambulance and police sirens are already converging on the entrance. The false construction workers don't seem to have realized what's going on yet, as they're still at their posts, paying about as much attention as they were beforehand. From a safe distance, the group can see the first wave of emergency vehicles pull up, a small swarm of officers running to take positions around the entrance and shouting at the bewildered and dismayed workers.

Once the group moves a significant distance away from the commotion, ostensibly under Kitty's veil once again, Leo breathes a sigh of relief. His head is spinning, and not just because of the poisonous gas in the subway tunnels. Breathing deeply of the relatively clean air, the young Wizard-in-Training gathers his composure.

"We have got some deep shit going on, here. Let's get back to Ziggy, he should be able to help us with the new information we've got...

At least, maybe some pointers...

Dammit, I just want to get out of here.

Lilly leans against a wall of the alley she's led the group to and catches her breath. Multiple times. "Well... we know the White Court's involved. Those two were Skavis. I could... uh, tell. I know a casino they own."

"Hmm... and the gas canisters... that must have been 'creeping air' by the sound of it... but that was under ground, and I'd expect that to be the perfect place for 'hungry earth.' Dammit, why can't supernatural death cults just be predictable for once in... ever?"

Leo looks down at his shoe, rubbing his foot into the ground a bit.

"Ok... so let's think about this for a moment. The fire component was going to take place at the park, right? Burning some trees, with the cultist adding a bit of a human-sacrifice element to the mix. The train full of people, that's a pretty big group of people. Could the next part be just that much bigger? And we've disrupted two of the three... Surely whoever's responsible-- the White Court or whoever else-- will start again with the other two components, if they can. 'At the appointed hour' as it goes."

"We'd need to preempt them then. Playing catchup with the Whites is only going to hurt me in the end." Phil seems in a low mood from being maneuvered into MORE dealing with Celaeno, particularly with the prospect of Kitty being there to make things even worse. "I expect the hungry earth might be some kind of structural failure? Tunnel collapse?"

"Alright, fine. Follow my lead, we can get there in fifteen minutes." Once again, Kitty grabs the other two by their arms and takes off. "We've got just the one lead, and we're in a hurry, and it should be quick, so let's press out some vampires." Specifically, she leads them towards a tram stations.
Because in Vienna, climatic races against the clock consist mostly of standing impatiently in a public transport vehicle.

Phil is towed along as always, grumbling something about poking hornets' nests with his head.

Kitty, Leo, and Phil can tell something's amiss even before the tram comes to a complete stop. A large, panicked crowd of wealthy-looking people is spilling out of the Casino Wien's doors, and the loud blare of a fire alarm splits the air. Neither smoke nor fire are visible from inside the casino, but the people nearest the double doors seem extremely alarmed all the same, nearly knocking each other over in their hurry to escape. Some of them are sporting tears in their elegant cocktail dresses or scuffs on well-polished business shoes, but every one of the casinogoers seems to be more concerned with getting out of the building as quickly as possible.

As the group approaches, a loud scream comes from the entrance and the crowd's struggles turn into an outright stampede. The reason why emerges a split second later, as the sound of the fire alarm is almost drowned out by an absolute torrent of machine-gun fire from inside the casino. As the escaping gamblers scatter, one of the ground floor windows shatters as someone - and a whole lot of bullets - dives through, hitting the ground and rolling out of the line of fire. A line of men in white suits is visible through the empty window frame, standing on the upper floor's balcony. To a man, they are armed with old-fashioned tommy guns, although currently they're reloading the bulky firearms. They are also, to the eyes of Leo, Kitty, and Phil, clearly White Court.

Their target, meanwhile, stands up. Dressed sharply in a smoke grey suit and maroon tie, the man in front of them looks like nothing so much as an American businessman there to lose a few thousand dollars at the slots. Despite having hurled himself through a window while vampires attempted to weigh him down with lead, however, only his shoes show any signs of the excitement, and not even the broken glass seems to have scratched him.

There isn't time to marvel at the apparent luck of the newcomer, however. The guards on the balcony shout "Out there!", and three of them start racing toward the broken window, inhuman agility carrying them down the stairs at a full sprint. Meanwhile, some of the fleeing gamblers have managed to get to their cars and are trying to escape. Unfortunately, between normal traffic, the crowd, and everyone else who's found a vehicle, this only results in a massive traffic jam. Between the blaring fire alarm, the crowd of terrified gamblers, and the gunfire which promises to start up again shortly, it looks like today's chaos isn't over just yet.

Kitty's gaze goes fromt he crowd, to the shattered window, to the guns, to the White thugs running down, and finally to the guy who just jumped out of a window. "Uhhh... is this a bad time? Wait, don't I know your mug?"

The man smooths a stray hair and glances back up to the broken window and its bristling forest of guns. "It's possible, I guess." His voice bears a trace of a slavic accent.

Then he looks at Kitty more closely, and double-takes. "Wait... aren't you that vixen from the fundraiser? What are you doing here?

We might want to find somewhere a little less obtrusive if you want to catch up."
He winks at her, then starts to waltz calmly away from the casino.

A quick look at the incoming thugs is all it takes to convince Kitty. "Sounds good. This way!" She grabs onto the guy's wrist and pulls the other two closer to her before breathing out. Greyscale flames envelop the whole group, flaring up as their presence gutters out.

The White Courtiers hop through the broken window frame not ten seconds after Kitty's veil shrouds the group, guns held at the ready and causing a fresh wave of screams to ring out. One of them stares wildly around, looking straight at the man he had been chasing, but with Kitty's skillful illusion in place his eyes slide right past. He grimaces, touching one hand to an earpiece. "Check the perimeter. He can't have gone too far. We'll make sure he isn't hiding in the crowd. Oh, and see if you can't get the police to blockade the street, too." He nods toward his comrades, who split up, making their way through the incredible traffic jam and trying, without much success, to get everyone to calm down.

"Oh god, now we're in trouble with the White Court on top of everything?"
Phil contemplates an aerial exit, but decides that he'd err on the side of not being full of holes.

Leo just closes his eyes for a moment and shakes his head. He hadn't been in Vienna a full day and already things were spiraling out of control.
