I was only told to bring the letter you this table. The sender left descriptions of each of you, but no names. The message was just tasked to be sent, so whomever the sender was must have known you would be at this table. responded the messanger.

Grey chuckles grimly and says "Then your master must be quite a Seer, as none of us know each other, and certainly hadn't planned to meet tonight.

Then with a much more serious tone "Come boy, tell the truth. Is this some kind of practical joke?"

"This is no joke. Now, either open the letter or don't. I don't care. But I won't be harrassed over something I don't have control over," says the messanger. He turns an walks out of the tavern, his foot falls heavy with anger.

Grey stands up and floats across the room, passing through the table, and says "I want to know who sent you, and who he told you to look for. Speak quickly, before I decide to pry it out of that pea brain of yours myself." He reaches his now spectral hand towards the boy's face as he says the last.

Fina stands up as the man floats through the table. "Sir, you aren't doing a terribly good job of convincing me you aren't an evil abomination. There are other ways to coax information from people that don't involve scaring the entire room to death."

She slowly looks around the room, then back to Grey.

"You're drawing an awful lot of attention, even if your intentions aren't malevolent. At least read the message before 'shooting the messenger.'"

Fina picks up the letter, opens it, and reads the contents.

Bathra gently puts his hand on Grey's shoulder, Come on, there's no need to use force. He said he doesn't know and I believe him. Here, kid. For your troubles. Bathra slips a silver coin into one of the boy's pocket. It's obviously a mistake, but lets have a closer look., he says as he looks over Fina's shoulder.

Novihrek paid attention to what was being read. At the end, Galkhad spoke to the kalashtar.

<<Now this is surprising... Who would possibly know you would be here today with these people? Does this person really knows you?>>

<<...You should have something on your mind already, right?>> Says the kalashtar with a tone that implied suspiction... Many suspictions.

<<...I really hope you don't get dragged into something serious here.>>

Then the kalashtar turns to the big grey man lurking close to us.

"Your name is Thokram, right? If I knew you were going to be dragged in this, I would have invited you to join us on the table much sooner, so we could get something to drink." Novihrek says with a wry smile.

"You see, Grey? If it's answers you're looking for, this meeting should suffice. Let the kid go. We all clearly have a vested interest in figuring out who sent the letter; Even if it's a trap of some sort, we'll have a better chance of surviving through it if you're not locked up by the city Guard for assault."

Directly into Serafina's mind, Grey's voice says <I haven't assaulted anyone. I just don't like the circumstances here, and want to know what else the kid knows that he isn't telling us. I don't think that's unreasonable, do you?

We should work out a routine here. You butter them up with niceness, but warn them about me, then I threaten them. A bit of back and forth could probably crack most.>

Aloud he says "I haven't assaulted anyone... yet I just want to hear what else the kid knows. This whole thing stinks."

Fina processes this for a moment, and thinks back at Grey, hoping that the message can go both ways. <<Oh... oh! I've seen this before. A little 'white knight, black knight' scenario, of sorts. He's probably just a messenger, though. I don't think the couriers meet with the senders, they just deliver. If you think he knows more though, by all means...>>

The girl follows the grey man's lead, and looks to the messenger.

"Now, there's no reason to threaten the poor boy. He's just the courier. Isn't that right, sir? You wouldn't have seen who commissioned this letter, right? You'd certainly tell us, I'm sure of it. I can't imagine why you'd hide a detail like that. After all, you seem like a decent man."

Fina thought of the boy as just that, a boy; however, she knew their propensity for pride and self-importance, and buttering him up was definitely something she could do.

"S-s-sir, I swear, I don't know anything more. I swear," stutters out the messanger, taking a step back. The messanger looks pleasingly towards Fina.

Thokram's ears perk up at hearing his name.  "Yes, my name is Thokram; let me see that!" he says with a large dollop of surprise in his voice.  He turns to face the table, and cranes his neck to peer over others' shoulders at the letter.  His lips move silently and slowly, as if sounding out the names written under the coins.  When he finishes, he strides over to talk to the proprietor of the pub.

Sense Motive
Rolled 1d20 : 14, total 14

"Fine... fine. Get out of here." Grey says, as he releases the boy from his mental grip.

The messanger turns and all but runs from the table. Behind him, the door to the Rusty Warforged swings shut as he exits.

"Well, we've got some time, and I assume the rest of you are at least a little intrigued. Gather what belongings and equipment you might need to defend yourselves, as this may well be a trap. Or, it could be a job. Maybe even both! It will no doubt be dangerous and more than a little suspicious, at the very least. Perhaps I'll see you all at this meeting place... at midnight."

Fina finishes her tea, and sets the mug down, plucking her coin from the wax. She tips the barkeeper for his service, and turns back to the Kalashtar. "Novihrek, yes? Thank you again for the tea."

The girl leaves the bar, heading toward the meeting place. She first stops in at a local Silver Flame outpost, checking in on any pertinent business and letting the agents know the general area she will be in, just in case of trouble.

Bathra thinks for a moment while he finishes his homunculus' maintenance, <There's no way I'd put myself into this trap... But what if? What if it's not a trap? Who would waste that much platinum on a trap? I'm curious...>

Then he gets the coin with his name. And, if no one objects, he gets the letter too.

Novihrek stays in the bar waiting for his second drink, then savor it slowly, leaves a tip to the changeling and leaves to the meeting spot.

After speaking to his boss, Thokram collects his bag from behind the bar and catches up to Novihrek as he leaves.  "So which of the others are you?" he asks in a friendly tone as he scans the surrounding area looking for trouble.
