Doing a kinda-soulknife call weaponry shtick. So...Mean it's horrible but then
1) Wheel layout of psychic weaponry
2) Female gladiator appealing to the crowd
does it make kitties?I used two different checkpoints
did it feel like it had disks spinning?
iv seen videos of rehardwaring a drive, but it does not look Fun.
Doesn't spin up at all, which usually means it's seized or the controller is fucked and not supplying power properly. Either way it means taking it apart. How do we at this stage in our data tech not have a device you can just stick the platters on to do a single read from, writing the data to cheap drive? 20 years ago we could write from a halfway-degaussed magnetic tape drive to digital device, with no further loss of data. Now we can't even do a raw write. I get that it's much more complicated tech, but you'd think reliable data recovery would be an important factor in a ubiquitous product like hard drives.
That's why all businesses store their data on drives in a RAID. My personal data storage drives are in a RAID specifically to help reduce data loss (plus also in the cloud).
So tonight I finally put the final word on a story I had been writing on a freeform game for going on... about eight years now, I think.
Due to a complete clusterfuck of circumstances, it was basically all but abandoned by the beginning of this year, but even if I wanted it to end with a whimper, not a bang, I still wanted to give everyone involved a chance to say goodbye to their characters in a manner befitting them. After all, they spent most if not all of that time writing with me.
And thanks to an absolute asshole of a stalker (seriously, fuck that guy with a rusty spoon), the absolute apocalypse that this year is turning out to be and the forums the story was in exploding, I had to essentially have a funeral for that game by myself. So... yeah, feeling pretty melancholic by now.
If Social Security comes after me for overpay after the pandemic is over I'm likely screwed. For now though I can absorb this with the relief check and my overtime pay.
