The Imbue natural weapon feature of the Thayan Gladiator was what I was thinking of.

Shadow Sentinel might have been what I was thinking of, but I thought it was more than just the bane or keen.  Oh well.

Gaming Advice / What's that prestige class that ...
« on: July 07, 2017, 07:10:37 PM »
I'm remembering a prestige class that lets you act as if you have various weapon enhancements, but it's not kensai or soulbow.  I think it was replacement for if you already had a feat or ability prior to obtaining that particular level of the prestige class, but I may be misremembering that part. I think it was a stealthy type character.  I've double searched all my reference books and  :banghead

A counter-spell or dispel/banish specialist?  This would force him to not depend on his summoned brutes during the fight.  Sure he's still a high level wizard, but most of his memorized spells will probably be support spells for his summons rather than stuff to deal with the enemy directly.

Halfling's ability to hide behind any creature larger than them pairs nicely with the 2nd level Rogue ability to take a bonus hide action every turn.  As a ranged rogue, you can pretty consistently get advantage and sneak attack dice by sniping from behind your resident warlock or wizard.

Gaming Advice / Savant - Hide in Plain Sight
« on: May 30, 2014, 02:11:41 PM »
What interaction does the Savant's (Dragon Magazine Compendium p 45) Skill Assistance class feature have with Hide in plain Sight?  Can a Savant impart a hide check on his allies or can they only replace a skill check that the ally themselves would qualify for?

I think binder would offer boat loads of diversity for a Chameleon.

Mid Bab full arcane casters that might fit into your build (I've excluded some that can progress acrane, but require some divine or other casting):

Auspician - Faiths and Patheons
Heartwarder - Faiths and Patheons
Evereskan Tomb Guardian - Player's Guide to Faerun
Harper Paragon - Player's guide to Faerun
Sacred Exorcist - Complete Divine
Unseen Seer - Complete Mage
Knight of Thorn - Dragonlance Campaign Setting
Master of the Yuirwood - Unapproachable East
Tainted Sorcerer - Unearthed Arcana
Ruathar - Races of the Wild
Spellwarp Sniper - Complete Scoundrel
Zhentarim Skymage - Lords of Darkness
Spell Singer - Races of Faerun

Personally I think Knight of Thorns fits's your build stub pretty well and has pretty easy reqs if setting specific stuff is allowed.

Follow up question:  If you are possessing a creature, can you cast personal range spells on the possessed creature?

If you are going for a similar build with a different race you probably want to go Hexblade 5 instead of Fighter 3.  Fighter 3 is a dead level but Hexblade 5 nets you another feat (although from a short list) and an extra curse use per day.

Your size will put you at a considerable disadvantage for disarming.  You would probably be better suited to a lockdown type build:  EWP: Spiked chain, Combat Reflexes, stand still, robilar's gambit, defensive sweep(doubt you will be able to squeeze this one in due to the +15BAB required)

Gaming Advice / Familiars and skill tricks?

Can a familiar use skill tricks?  Familiars use your ranks in skills and skill tricks are bought with skill ranks...

Gaming Advice / Martial Study Initiator level?
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:43:43 PM »
I'm trying to determine if I can take Martial Stance for a 3rd lvl stance at level 6. I took 5 lvls of Crusader then a non-initiator class at lvl 6.  I qualify for all other aspects of the stance, I'm just not sure if my initiator level is 5.5 or 3 because I took the feat on a non-initiator lvl.  Martial Stance does say that for purposes of using the stance my initiaor lvl would be 5.5, but does that hold true for taking the feat?

self healing using Mark of Malbolge(Fiendish Codex II)
Don't you need to be actually 'devil' to take ' Brand of 9 hells'?

Quote
Special: Once a character gains a brand of Nine Hells it can never gain the brand of another archdevil.  Nondevils ca gain this feat, and the feats that require it as a prerequisite, by performing a particularly useful act for an ardhduke of Hell. This option is unavailable to players characters (unless a DM rules otherwise).

I'm in the process of discussing it with my DM and he'll probably let me use it.

I've also updated the build a bit due to a better understanding of HD, maneuver trading, and initiator levels

Min/Max 3.x / Melee main healer
« on: July 17, 2012, 09:20:37 PM »
I'm trying to make a melee character, starting at lvl 4, that is a viable party main healer and hear is what I've come up with

Initial build see updated build below
(click to show/hide)

I'm thinking my DR and vigor aura in combination with Martial Spirit stance and healing manuvers will be enough to keep us up in combat and I've got a healing belt for each party member besides me for the OH **** moments until I get real healing spells and Sheild Other.  And I'll be healing "out" of combat by flagetating my other self, handing out Martial spirit healing to allies, and self healing using Mark of Malbolge(Fiendish Codex II)

One thing I'm not sure about is the feat progression with CL adjusted races.  Do I still get feats at the same levels or are they delayed based on class levels? If so I'll have to switch Iron Will and Weapon Focus in order to still qualify for Ur Priest on time.

I am also iffy about Extend as a feat selection as I've already got free Extend to all abjuration which most cleric buffs are.  I need a metamagic feat to get Chain which I will need for Greater Magic Weapon (the campaign is low to no magic) and can use on Shield other as well.  Is there a better metamagic feat that I can get for the prereq that fits into the build better?

Gaming Advice / Re: Share ability
« on: July 15, 2012, 06:37:35 PM »
Well it looks like even with a Dvati Crusader I would need to take some cleric levels to be able to use Shield other enough to cover the whole party, but I could focus more on melee-centric than caster-centric tactics and spells.  I was hoping I could stay away from a divine gish and go in a more arcane direction, but it doesn't look like that is in the cards.

Gaming Advice / Shield Other and damage reduction
« on: July 15, 2012, 06:19:21 PM »
If I cast the Shield Other spell on someone (Fred) that has DR 5/- and I myself have DR 2/-, then they get hit for 15 points of damage how is the damage divided between us?

Is Fred's DR applied before the halfing and my DR applied on the portion that gets through (15-5/2 = 5 to Fred and 5-2 = 3 to me) or would it be split prior to applying DR (15/2 = 8-5 = 3 to Fred and 7-2 = 5 to me) or would Fred's DR apply before halfing and my DR not apply at all (15-5/2 = 5 to Fred and 5 to me)?

Shield Other

...Additionally, the subject takes only half damage from all wounds and attacks (including that dealt by special abilities) that deal hit point damage. The amount of damage not taken by the warded creature is taken by you....

That reads to me like option 3, but I wanted other opinions.
