btw , the op's linked combat houserules don't effect  Tiers really at all.
Thank you for these wonderful blasts from the past.  The nice thing about senility is that it's just as hilarious the 2nd (or 43rd) time...

At the bottom of the amazon page it says:
Title Not For Sale In This Country/Region
Due to publishing rights restriction, we are not authorized to sell this item in the country/region where you live.

I might order the cds though. Thanks.

Since Asmodeus seems to have broken/violated the Pact Primeval, could Lucius' contract of servitude be viewed as nullified (by an Inevitable...)?

I’ve seen this mentioned but it was generally regarded as pretty weak rules lawyering. Having a familiar doesn’t change the target of the spell in general. It’s still a personal spell. Using that one prc, spell guard of silverymoon I think, is more solid and generally accepted.

The original post was from January. I think the second post is likely from a bot.

There is a being imprisoned within the sword that offers to fight in exchange for freedom.

Good idea about the libraries. There are three titles that aren't available as audiobooks in the US: Excession, Inversion, and Look to Windward. I've listened to all the other culture novels except for the final one, The Hydrogen Sonata. (I also managed to find a... less than legit... copy of Excession a while back...) Evidently there must have been some licensing snafu between his UK publisher and audible that only affects '96 to 2000...

Yeah I listen to podcasts as well, but I get bored with them and switch back and forth to books.

After mentally girding himself (regaining both psionic foci and recovering his maneuvers), Dyson picks up the sword.

Legends of the Heroes / Re: Forest Friends

Haven't updated in a while, and we haven't played that much, either. Here's a brief recap:
They got the Beacon of Hope with no trouble by convincing the awakened golem guarding it that they're the good guys (they had a unicorn and a lammasu with them, so it wasn't that hard. :D).

They have to light this on the highest mountain. So they used the druid's 1x/day Transport via Trees spell (or whatever it's called) to teleport as close as they could to the mountain. They couldn't go all the way because its summit is above the treeline. In fact, they only got to the foothills near it. As they were trudging their way up through a pass, they encountered a couple of stone giants playing catch with boulders. After dodging a couple of boulders, they convinced the stone giants to be friends, and the giants suggested they take a shortcut through some dwarven ruins. They avoided falling down a "bottomless" crevasse by not actually riding on the mining carts... and just as they were nearing the exit, they were attacked by an unseen vrock's telekinesis. After a pitched battle, they got the vrock down to 2 hit points where it promptly teleported away. (The greenbound giant crocodile summoned by the druid did most of the heavy lifting...  with the pixie repeatedly intimidating the vrock with Imperious Command to keep it cowering for several rounds so it couldn't really put up much of a defense...)

The next encounter will be the "final battle" against the BBEG and his minions. The druid will be 9th level.

Time Hop it?  Unattended items don't get saves, right?
Hmm... now that you mention it... didn't we stock up on an Enveloping Pit full of Quintessence at some point?... I know we discussed it, and I have the power known... It should be fine just kicking it in there, I think.

Off Topic Fun / Audiobooks not available in US

Hi all. I'm a big fan of the Culture series by Iain M. Banks. However, 3 of the books aren't available for purchase as audiobooks in the US due to some stupid licensing problems. I managed to get one of the three (Excision) somewhere in the past... but was wondering if any of you who live in the UK (or any other region where these books aren't restricted for sale...) could help me get a copy.

I commute 2 hours each day for my work, and audiobooks make it a lot more tolerable. I also never have time to sit down and read an actual paper book.

Well... given the nature of the thing that dropped it, and the insanity engulfing the multiverse, not picking it up is likely the safer course...

However... Dyson survived picking up the Skull of Sertros... so he can probably handle a Pit Fiend's sword...
