Korgan is observing Glad's reaction to his question about the staff.  He's trying to determine if she's being truthful.  Communication + Mind?

Is that true for all skill rolls?  ie: Stat + Skill Bonus + 1d20?

Yes.  Just like how you add your attribute modifier to your skill ranks in 3.5.

The difference is, in this system rather than having a predetermined skill setup you can use a different attribute depending on how you perform the task.  For example: A Fighter, a Rogue, and a Wizard are climbing a wall.  Each says the following:

Fighter: I pull myself up (Physical + STR)
Rogue: I nimbly climb the wall (Physical + DEX)
Wizard: I take my time, and test each hand and foothold before ascending to the next section (Physical + MIND)

They each do the same task, but go about doing it in a very different fashion.  I like it a lot.  Who cares if the Wizard uses a lever where the Fighter uses his muscles.  The same task and the same result.

Do we do all our die rolling here? You don't want us to imbed it into the story posts when we do something? Like if I try to sneak around, we should roll it in this thread and say what we're rolling for?

This is mainly for my own rolling since I'll have multiple rolls to make eventually.

If you don't want to flip back and forth, feel free to /roll in your posts.  Just remember that if you ever need to edit a post you'll get a warning that the roll has been tampered with.  I don't mind that, I know we're not cheaters.

If you put the /roll in your regular posts, I recommend putting it in a spoiler (there's a button in the middle to the left of the bullet point button, or type [spoiler*](your text here)[/spoiler*] without the asterisks).  That way the rolls don't interfere with the dialogue.

Wow, randomness is random, but these rolls are odd...

Wow, randomness is random, but these rolls are odd...

Well the problem with a random number generator that's digital is that they aren't actually random.  Most use results that are based off some equation derived from the system's internal clock and other continuous "counting" features running in the background of the computer/server, etc.

Who knows exactly what minmaxboards uses, but it's algorithmic, so it can't be truly random.  It should be sufficiently random for our purposes, but odd patterns may emerge from time to time.
