Color Coding: Shades of Blue
« on: August 05, 2013, 05:37:27 PM »
I need some help with color coding and most likely RGB values for a project I have in mind.

Problem is I'm using a lot  of shades of blue. Could anyone help me find something resembling these colors?

Azure, cerulean, cobalt, cyanic, beryline, sapphire, midnight, turquoise, indigo, and peacock (pavonian). Yeah, I went there.

Any help appreciated in advance.

I'm not sure what precisely you're looking for. Is it hexcodes for various shades of blue for use on the boards? Wikipedia has a staggering amount of those. Look at the bottom of the page in addition to the in-article list for shades that have their own page. All of them have codes listed for them.

Yeah, I want to color code some incarnum.

I've tried going through there but I have the artistic sensibility of a digested snail. So staring at that list (done it) drives me insane.

Help!

Well, for starters, azure, cerulean, cobalt, sapphire, midnight, turquoise, and indigo are all there already. Prussian blue is made with cyanide, so that might be what you mean by cyanic blue (unless it's just cyan). It's very similar to midnight blue, though, to the point that they're probably not worth using together.

Also, unless you're also asking how to color-code using the forum's bb script, I'm not sure why this is in Board Business.

Google has never heard of beryline so I can't help you with that one, other than that as Agita said most of what you asked for is in the wikipedia article.

Actually, the one I'm stuck on is peacock. Many example of which can be found in the closet next to mine.

Otherwise I got these:

Crown – Azure

Feet – Cerulean

Hands – Sapphire

Arms – Cobalt

Shoulders – Midnight

Throat – Indigo

Waist – Turquoise

Heart – Cyanic

Soul – Beryline

which I need to fine tune.

I recommend against the last two. They're pretty painful against the forum background.

Also sapphire and cobalt are difficult to tell apart
