Minor clarification.  The road you are on is an East-West road.  Further west of where you are currently (ie - behind you), there would be major roads meeting this one from the south.  So, you've probably been traveling east on this road for at least a few days, if you got to the area "from the south."

I can work with that.

Hmm, now to decide the best way to pop up.

So... since we're saying my character found Throgrim and Einar by using Divination, do you want to make up one that would have led her to find them here? Or do you want me to do it?

I'm thinking this: she used the Divination some time ago (months? even years?), and it told her of their pursuit of the exiled berserker. For whatever reason, she couldn't actually find Hergierr himself via Divination (I'll leave that part up to you :P ), and so she instead turned to tracking down his friends' current whereabouts, and the Divination predicted that they would meet upon the road at this place and time (since Nanshork wants to RP out he and Thorgrim meeting again). So she set off to catch up with them before they got to this point. She might not even know their names, only have some vague descriptions of them (Thorgrim might be the hardy son of Grendel's Bane, and Einar might be the Hound of Sif, or something like that. :P ) So she'll have to piece together which ones are actually her son's old friends by observing (or questioning) them.

I'm going to just go on with this as her (extended) backstory, unless someone has a protest/addition to it.

Well, you do move as fast as a mounted horse, all on your own, so you could probably just catch up to the wagons, which would be a bit slower (the wagons aren't very full, except supplies and strongboxes).

snip
I like that.  I'll work up whatever the exact text of the Divination was, but it'll build off what you just wrote.

Edit:  It looks like SDK/Thorgrim is being pigeonholed into being in the caravan guard.  I hope that's okay, skydragonknight?

That's what he gets for falling behind in his post count. :P

I decided to go ahead with Bottle of Smoke as her retrieved 3rd level spell, and say that's how she managed to catch up with the caravan as well. Her bird would have let her know before she met/passed anyone on the road, so she could put the smoky horse back in the bottle and avoid alarming anyone before encountering them. I also put down that spell as being precast this morning, as you can put the duration on "pause" by putting the horse back in the bottle and restoppering it. I really like that spell...

I also finalized her other retrieved spells. So my character is now 100% ready to go.

Edit: Wasn't someone looking for a magic item giving more rages per day?
I do not know what books this was originally from but on wizards website they have a pdf called new magic items, and some of these items grant feats.  (it appears 3.0 since it references polymorph self)

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/MagicItems.pdf

Mantle of Rage 6,000 gp.  Rage as a 1st level barbarian or if you have the rage feature rage 1 additional times per day (this is similar to the feat extra rage but 1/day instead of 2)
Reflex Weapon (equivalent to a +1), gain the benefits of combat reflexes.

There are other goodies such as scrying at will for only 42,000 gp but those aren't feat related

ksb, I adjusted Einar's background so it isn't just a copy/paste of the old character.

I think that was X-Codes, and he didn't make the cut.

Cool.

Oh, in reference to how long ago phaedrus would have used the Divination to start looking for Thorgrim and Einar... this is later in the same year that you guys started the other game.  That one started June 21st.  It is now October... 9th? (maybe 8th?)  I'll have to check my notes later.

I think at least one of those original guys was planning on their characters being older than the other game (like by years...). So hopefully they see this. :P

That timeline works out fine for me.  I'm assuming that after all the troll hunting/etc the old group split up and then Einar went off on his spirit quest or whatever?  (I'm still not really sure why he went off to be outside Rashemen for a few months).

I don't mind being the guard. I've been posting with the intent of being with the caravan right from the beginning...

More than anything, I was referring to the conversations that have happened in character already.

If SDK wants to be older than previously, I suppose I could call it 15 months later, rather than 3.5 months later.

Just throwing out an idea based upon phaedrus' question about if Einar wears a holy symbol of Sif.  Sif's holy symbol is an upraised sword.  The description of vikings by Ibn Fadlan indicates they wore cloaks that pinned at the right shoulder, with the vertical flap open near the right arm (the better to be able to swing your sword arm at a moment's notice while still staying warm).  The ring and pin to clasp the cloak could easily be worked such that it looks like an upraised sword.

Just throwing that out there, if Nanshork likes it.

7'4" and 375 lbs and yet only 10 Strength and Con? :P

Well Con doesn't really play much on weight. It can be argued either way... I know plenty of sickly weak skinny people, and sickly weak fat people...
Strength, yea ok that has some to do with it obviously because of muscle. Here is a few examples of big dudes.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar - Height: 7-2; Weight: 267 lbs.
Shaq - Height -  7'1” - Weight: 325 lbs
Yao Ming - Height: 7-6  Weight: 310 lbs
Andre the Giant - height, 7 ft 4 in  weight, 520 lb

Now for Hymir, after researching this a bit I think I did overshoot the weight a tad. But Hymir is healthy, not skinny, nor over weight. And he does have a healthy thickness about him. So I will be lowering his weight to 300lbs I suppose.

Sounds great to me, that definitely sounds like something Einar would do.

Just a reminder that I plan to lay the first hook tomorrow evening (it will be late).  So try to get all of yourselves inserted into the game by that point (I think Lycanshee is the only one not to have posted in the game thread yet).  The hook will occur late in the afternoon, so you guys will have been traveling all day.  You are traveling through medium density mixed forest.  It is occasionally hilly and rocky, as you are skirting the southern end of a mountain range.

Anyways, I'm off to dinner with friends.

Since you have "demons trapped inside stone circles" as an element of your gameworld, would it make sense for binders to be contacting those trapped "spirits"? Perhaps there are other creatures that binders also "channel", but some of the demonic/devlish ones certainly might make sense to be reflavored/redefined like that.

Of course, this might put binders and the Masters of the Yuirwood in direct opposition... which could be problematic for the future development of my character.  :lmao (unless binding is specifically a subsect of them who see not using the trapped creatures as a waste of resources...)

Alright, I'm going with the "it has been 15 months" timeline.
