The market place is a mess. Slaves trying to flee, the guards attacking phantom shapes in the mist. The Hunchback lay dead near that strange wagon. What was once a tense, but peaceful day has been turned to ruin. The mobs of panicked citizens fleeing in every direction chokes out any possibility of your party being detected.

Eventually you all reach the massive banks of the River of Sacrifices that the city was built upon. This is the oldest and most densely populated section of town. Across the mighty river you can see the grim castle of the Darklord.

After a short time you manage to all meet back up with each other. Gevyen has a rather sad look on his face.
" I dropped the snacks... sorry." without looking anyone in the eyes he continues. " So what's the plan? "

The cool breeze here keeps any mist from clinging to the ground during the day. This small area tends to see more daylight than the rest of the city, which is normally choked thick with mist and fog. Lots of people here are going about there business. Most tend to be simple fisherman or traders. There are many ships of all kinds docked here. Although none seem as imposing as the Darklords ship across the river.

I don't think we should go back to the market. Lets see if we can find a boat to go down the river. I don't like to stand in this castle's shadow.

Gevyen nods along in agreement with Rieks words. " I thought the Gypsies might have been a viable option. But a boat could be pretty fast. Should we split up?" He looks to the little bird. " Lets not start any trouble over here shall we Zero? At least not until we secure some means of transportation. Plus I'm sure that Jacqueline Renier has her spies crawling all over the dockside...."
He smiles for the first time since you left the haunt, as he looks over to Mercutio and Alphonse. " Was the freak show scary? Heh.. I'm sure it wasn't anything worse than some of the other Kargat we work with. "

Mercutio says "I understand... but we'll only get our own throats slit... or worse... by acting rashly. This Realm seems to have a special hatred of heroes...

As for the Freak show, it seemed pretty interesting. I think the owner might be buying slaves and freeing them to work for him. There might be more to it than it seems at first glance, but my conversation with the entertainers was cut short by the ruckus at the slave auction. They were also planning to head out of town, but I didn't get to find out which direction they were going. I had hoped to try to ask about traveling with them..."

It doesn't matter now, Zero. Just try to control yourself next time. And there will be a next time, I'm sure...Do you think that possibility of travelling with the gypsies is still available, Mercutio? I mean it's crazy to go back there now, but maybe we can rendezvous with them once they leave the market.

"Well... I am not sure which way they'll be going. If we run into them, sure, we might be able to approach them again. I don't think we should bank on it, though. I'll see if I can find us a boat." Mercutio says, as he starts to look around for likely candidates.

There's safety in numbers.  I'd rather travel with a group - be it gypsies or Freaks - than set out on our own.  Especially since there will be people looking for us, given recent events.
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.

Mercutio, who now looks like a nondescript local human, smiles and says "I'd thought the same, and hoped to work something out with them, but decided that getting you guys out of trouble seemed more important."

Mercutio decides to take a look around and see if he can dig up any leads. He returns in about 15 minutes.

Kwah-Yah just silently watches the area around as others talk about the mess. Taking a break from all the action, he shrugs in the general direction of Zero and just find a place to look around for other threats.

Blindsense on for 60ft

Mercutio, still in the guise of a local human, returns and says "Well, I've got some good news and bad news. The good news is there are a couple of larger ships which are leaving within a few hours which we could probably get passage on. The bad news is, we don't want to be on either one of them. One is the Dark Lord's, off on some mysterious mission to the Chapel, and the other is a big slaver vessel going in basically the wrong direction.

I'm going to try talking to the Freakshow leader, and probably also the Vistani. Maybe we can travel overland with one of their groups. Anyone who wants to tag along, and knows how to behave themselves in social situations..."
he glares at Zero "is free to tag along."

Kwah-Yah replies I'd probably only makes things worse... Unless you want to scare them off, that is.

Mercutio thinks for a moment, then says "The Freakshow people might actually like you... And for the Vistani, you could borrow my hat..."

"If that's how it is, then i shall go and make sure put a stop on everything if anything should go bad. Wouldn't be my first protection detail, ya know." Kwah-Yah does his uncomfortable laugh that feels more like a gurgle from a drowning man.

Feeling neither freakish enough to help with the circus, nor diplomatic enough to be of help with the Vistani, Zulketev quietly watches the surroundings, trying to be an innocuous-appearing as he can.
