I'm new but a complaint about this site.
« on: March 08, 2014, 09:16:47 PM »
This seemed like the place. The biggest problem I've had with this site are the password restrictions. Needed uper case, lower case, number and all makes this site's password incredibly hard to remember. Every time I want to log in here, I reset my password.

Would it be possible not to be so difficult about passwords?

Thanks!

You could... write it down. It's not like anyone will want to steal your forum account.

We've had problems with spambots and hackers in the past. I'm sure that's why the password restrictions are pretty tight. Aside from writing it down, you could also save it in your browser.

Try something like Password Safe, then all you have to memorize is the one to your safe file, where all of your various passwords reside.  (and make sure you back it up somewhere)

I don't think we can actually change this ourselves, it's just the default that the forum software requires. That said, I've never had any trouble with my password. If you really experience problems persistently, have your browser save the password (both Firefox and Chrome will offer to do this automatically, I can't speak for Internet Explorer but can't imagine it wouldn't), or write it down somewhere.

Thing is, I've got a long string of upper case characters and numbers that I use to split into my passwords. And then I've got this one that I never remember.

Bleh, oh well, if it's in the software, it's in the software.
