Bulwark just watches silently, weapon and shield at the ready, waiting for the time to strike.

"Joana; if you can control yourself long enough, we can help... and even if you can't, before the inevitable: what changed? For the Taint to be so advanced... something must have changed."
"Everything was ok for the first  couple of century or so... But then they started coming. So many... Like vermins... Yes, they were vermins. No matter how many my servants kill, more come for the slaughter. Foul vermins reeking of taint. No time left for my cleansing rituals. Just time for vermins and vermins. Vermins. Only vermins for the last months. Then you come here. Perhaps you're with with the vermins, aren't you? Yes... You're just trying to distract me, with your delicious smells. I have to deal with you now, before even more vermin come... "

With this words, Joana rises from her throne, violently pulls down the nearby chains that were attached to the ceiling,  and the nearby bodies near rise as well, standing up with weapons  ready, forming a clustered mob around the chain priestess, before they start marching as one towards you.

Imos sighed, and readied himself for combat, standing in square *14.

I need a WILL save, DC 26, against read thoughts from the mob (and any other enemies in a 60' cone in front of me). If it would be immune, it's DC 21 instead. It makes the save with a -3 penalty (which is on all saves, and all non-STR-based Skill Checks and Ability Checks). If it (or another enemy) closes to within 30' (radius, not cone) I need another DC 26 WILL save against an Aura of Menace, or take -2 on attacks, AC, and saves. If it's vulnerable to FORT effects, as its undeadness seems to be contradicting, I need DC 20 or it's sickened for a minute. Wow, that's a bunch of saves.

Steyven was too overwhelmed with the amount of information pouring into his head to notice when the fight started, until the undead mob was already upon them. (Until Fina snapped him out of it with her prompt response. :P )

In general, someone who had just met Serafina would assume that she would freak out in a situation like this, that she would lose her cool and be useless. They were wrong. Sera thrived in the heat of battle, and she used that heat to sear her foes.

She used her quick reaction time to prompt her allies into action, and replies to Izuna, "Yes, Izuna, I agree. And best done with Haste."

As the corpses rose and clustered together at the center of the room, Nina clasped her hands together and drew forth a lance of pure energy dyed a dark red from her palm. "I would still like to try to save her, if allowed," she addressed the others before she dashed forward with some of her newly endowed haste, lunging straight for Joanna with her free hand.

Just before Nina dives into the pile, Steyven says with a low, almost inaudible voice "Yes... time to burn..." and begins swinging his odd weapon over head. It makes a buzzing sound a bit like a giant hornet, and as it spins it erupts into flames... as do all the weapons of his companions. As his weapon is getting up to speed, he limps towards the mob of undead and opens his mouth, and a hissing gout of flames erupts from it and engulfs them.

Imos sighed. "No time like the present, I suppose..." he said, moving serenely forwards; then, with a flick of his wrist, five spines flew out towards the mob, quickly followed by the same number of force missiles - however, the missiles unerringly tracked down Joana in the chaotic mob.

His speed enhanced by his allies, Bulwark quickly moves forward to place himself between the mob and his allies (except for Nina which is currently in the mob).  He then creates a protective bubble around the little doll and then assaults the mob with sword and shield.

"You want to save her? I suppose that means we need to rip those corpses off her then." he says as he fades into the darkness until not even the fire on his hands can be seen.

"I'm going in."
Can be heard before a vacuum of air is felt by those near him.

Tsukiyo continued to relay information as she moved forwards--including that when Joana inevitably came back if they killed her, she'd be as tainted as ever, so subduing was vastly preferable to killing. Amongst the stream of semi-random facts was more precise knowledge of how to harm these things for maximum efficiency.

Somehow, she'd gained an amazingly crafted sword. It seemed to simmer with some barely-contained radiance, though its practicality was rather... questionable with the ornate carvings adorning it.

After speeding up the rest of the party, Sera flies upwards to the ceiling of the cavern, taking care not to bump on the numerous decomposed bodies hanging from the chains attached to the stone above.

Steyven advances next, his breath burning down the front rank of Joana's unliving bodyguards, burning several to ashes.

Nina follows up, diving right inside the undead mob, skillfully feinting trough the dozens of rotten hands trying to grab or block her path, until she finally reaches the chain priestess. Joana is caught completely by surprise by the bold attack, and Nina's fist connects directly with her face. The tiny doll can feel it is harder than steel on contact. She still succeeds in shattering its left side, sending Joana flyng upwards! The room trembles a bit as Joana impacts the ceiling at great speed, before she falls back down togheter with some debris, the nearby undead hurrying to shield their mistress once more.

Bulwark closes in, conjuring a defensive bubble around Nina before striking at the pack of walking corpses in front of him, cuting a couple down with his axe before smashing another with his shield.

The ranks of the undead quite depleted, Imos manages to penetrate their minds:
"Obey Joana.
Serve Joana.
Obey Joana.
Serve Joana..."

Having synchronized with his targets, Imos launches a flurry of spines, taking several more down, before launching a volley of mystic missiles at Joana. The magic projectiles however fail to properly lock on and end up exploding against some of her surrounding bodyguards.

Izuna blends in with the shadows and suddenly fist marks appear on some of outward undeads, before they too collapse into dust.

With its numbers considerably reduced, and most of the remaining undeads half-broken, the mob still holds togheter, and in the middle of them you can see Joana rise her arms with her hands hanging down. Her eyes start glowing with more intensity while the rest of the room seems to become even darker and colder.

Yyesss... Come closer...

Suddenly, the piles of corpses closer to you start moving, and several of the corpses rise, forming new mobs! Smaller than Joana's own, but still dangerous looking.

Before you can react, the depleted mob at the center surges forward, trampling over the front party members before lashing out with a variety or rusted weapons, trying to overwhelm you with their numbers!

Joana herself grabs four of the chains attached to her arms with her hands, and violently rips them off. In a fluid movement, she flings the weapons in the air, and as they fly, the metal links sprout razor barbs. Joana twists her arms, and the flying chains twist in mid-air acordingly, striking at Nina and Imos with great speed and power. On contact, there's sudden bursts of purple energy that drain their vitality.

The goddess, on the whole, seemed rather unfazed by the mob's actual attack, with none of the blows coming close to scratching her skin. Attempting to flatten her had marginally more success... in that it hit her. It did not, however, scratch Tsukuyomi.

Now, these undead? She was going to make them pay in kind for their insolence.

Imos grunted in pain, then shuddered - feeling almost shaken, before the bolstering aura from the other Desert Ghost renewed him - and tried to pull himself away from the chains, though he failed. Then his arm flung out a flurry of spines again, followed by the same burst of missiles. "Bring down Joana, then the undead will be easy."

Shaken; 10 temp HP lost; 54 normal HP lost; remaining is 38.
5' step southeast into W15; strength check is: 4.
Attacks at Joana's mob; rolls are 24/17/19/31/33. Damage is 18/17/15/13/13
Magic missiles strike at the mob; damage is 4/5/6/2/2.

I forgot the Entangled penalties to attack in the rolls thread.

After getting nearly ran over by the creature the nearly invisible blob of shadows that is Izuna moves around to line up his shot, "Katon: Goka Messhitsu" can be heard almost entirely giving away his position. All of a sudden a stream of fire erupts from the shadows in the direction of what was heard scorching the undead remains of Joana and her minions.

Steyven, stepping much more quickly than you'd think he should be able to, covers the 20 feet between him and the dwindling horde of undead shielding Johanna, and unleashes a flurry of flaming strikes with his odd weapon.

Serafina nearly gasps, but reigns in her surprise at the turn of combat. She decides to begin taking out some of Joana's minions, gathering a burning globe of heat in her hand. She unleashes it right in the middle of several of the undead mobs, the force exploding out and bursting into flame!
