Starting an Oriental Adventure style campaign.
« on: August 12, 2014, 11:26:18 AM »
I am looking to start a campaign based off the oriental style of a campaign. Does that mean you have to play something out of "oriental adventures"?  No, it just means I want the game to have an oriental style feel to the game. I'm looking for 4 maybe 5 players potentially. If you would like to join let me know.

Rules/restrictions:

32 point buy, no score over 18 after race mods.
Lvl 1 characters.
All classes available, homebrew must be run by me first.
Max starting gold.
No races with lvl adj. No magical gear such as potions or scrolls, etc... are available as of yet.
Since this is an oriental style campaign i will use the clans out of oriental adventures. You must be associated with one, or with something similar. Such for example a ninja could be one for the clans or be a seperate ninja clan entirely. Please specify, if the party can agree on a single clan there could be potential bonuses for everyone being originally associated together.

Interested, but lacking in time. Do you plan this to be more of a "typical" D&D game (lots of combat, looting, etc), or more diplomacy/RP (more typical of OA/Rokugan games)? Looting is highly frowned on, according to the OA book, as well. So distributing wealth through a patron/sponsor might be a good alternative.
I don't pee messages into the snow often , but when I do , it's in Cyrillic with Fake Viagra.  Stay frosty my friends.

Hmm... checking in for interest. I'd like to hear more about what you're presenting first.

So say for instance someones a Lawful evil duskblade are you asking for a reflavoring of the powers
or that we just call ourselves "Samurai" and go through the outlines of pop-asian-ish things. Using "San" and "Bowing deeply" etc.
"Disentegrate...gust of wind. Can we please get back to saving the world now?"

More of a mix of the two. You will be well rewarded either way whether through looting, a patron or sponsor, or potentially even both.

You will not be rquired to call yourself samurai and if you want to reflavor text to suit a style like, it I'm all for it. I do reward for good roleplay. The only thing is if you change the name or flavor of say a spell for example then just put somewhere what it really is.

You will not be "required" to say san or bow, but it will be in there. The world will not necessarily be rokugan, but it will be an oriental typical continent, such as rokugan.

Expressing interest. I recall seeing a homebrew version of the Ninja class that used Tome of Battle. I will probably go with that (or some other variant of ninja).
Hmm.

Somewhat interested, I suppose. There's not really much to go on, and starting from level one is torture. What's your thought on magical girls?

Oh man, you shouldn't have shown me that Raineh, now I have to use this somehow.  (I run this rather expansive magical girl/SCP foundation setting.  This would be perfect.)   :clap

What, you didn't know it existed?

It's awesome. Warlock-level direct power, more versatility. And multiple classes! :lmao

What homebrew might this be so i can check it out first.

Also if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask so i can clarify on anything you want to know.

Whoa~

Backtracking into this, I think I'd totally be interested in some orientals ( :lmao )

Would you be willing to allow homebrew with an appropriate oriental-styled...style?

Cause being a miko (Shrine Maiden) sounds fabulous~

One person eh, alright.  :3  Pity, I was about to suggest an entire team of magical girls.  Actually this is fine; I don't know what I want yet so Raineh can have it.  Given a possible magical girl and shrine maiden, I think I have some ideas on where to go from here.

As much as I would LOVE to get on board with a mahou shoujo sentai game, I can't read and learn all of those mechanics for all of that right now xD

So, I can be vaguely support, or I can go around whacking things.  Or being an archer. Options, they are plentiful. :lmao
