Ignoring the departing Ash, Worm leers at Unique.  "Heeeyyy... you're that doll from Carousel, right?  Nice, I know some guys who've seen your, uh, work."

At this, Unique smiles. "Well, recognition is the price we pay for elegance. Do tell your friends I said hello, I'm certain you'll be the idol of jealousy once you tell them all the beautiful people you've met today, along with one of the up coming champions of the Bowl."

Quote
He sips his coffee, and sighs.  "Anyway, down to business.  My boss wants me to, uh, acquire something.  I know a guy who has what I'm looking for, and I could always use some friends, you know?  So they don't try to push me around just 'cause I'm a kid.  So, whaddya say?  Shouldn't take more than a couple hours..."

On one hand, there was the recent attack on her life. On the other, this was Evernight, so an attack on one's life merely meant that it was half past noon. "Well, I know very well how poor I am in a brutish brawl, but if you're looking to look impressive well then you've certainly come to the right people. Child or no, the right ensemble and the right crowd could go a long way."

He searches the ground for a revolver and ammunition

"Ash, we should get moving. Undoubtedly, they will come back and make sure they finished the job. Do you know anyone that can fight well? If they could kill all of us so easily, I doubt that A medic, a Dodger, and a Psikin would be much of a threat"

Ash looks around, at the bodies of all of his lifetorn comrades. There was something worse than Trent or Zero realized at this moment, but that would have to come after. "We wont find Commander Alma or Dorn. Firstly, I doubt they're separated, and secondly, the boss will not be easy to find. I'd trust them to find us. I was attacked earlier tonight - which is where I got this injury, by the way - with a group of people. The group is fine now, and there is at least one capable arena gladiator with them.

I believe regrouping with them is the best idea. We will investigate this Black Lily and await contact or sign of the commander and the technician."
As he speaks, he searches for any ammunition crystals lying around, as his weapon could accept any grade, and was quite potent. He collects anything he can find, and identifies each body he comes to, just to be sure. As he searches them, he crosses their arms and closed their eyes, if able. The bodies of Mary Rojin, a fierce leader and heavy-armor soldier; Crux Fansime, a hardened trooper and specialist with foreign weapons; Aria Casckle, an engineer, and improvisational survivalist. Three others completed the whole of his specific unit of the Heavenly Dead. He is the last one.

"Great!" Worm swigs his coffee and gasps slightly as it burns his throat.  "Umm... let's go!"  He jumps up and drops a dirty cred on the table, then turns toward the door.  When he gets there, he hesitates, and speaks more quietly.  "Hey, uh, do you guys have, ya know... protection?"  He pulls up his shirt slightly, revealing a gun and a knife tucked in his waistband.  "Just in case, I mean.  Ya never know what you'll find on the streets of Evernight."

Ash finds four guns of pretty good make, but it seems in the shootout all the ammo crystals were used up.  The Heavenly Dead had more stored elsewhere, of course.  It would have been poor planning to keep all their equipment in their headquarters.  He also finds about 1500 creds in cash between the bodies.  It seems the attackers weren't interested in goods.

((You guys can go ahead and roll Streetwise about the Black Lily.))

Ash straps the guns to his back, picks up the creds, and turns to the others. "I take it you are all armed. We should pick up ammunition, if any remains, and then we should move to those few I spoke of earlier. Better defensively, and we can research our foes."

"Oh I'm terribly sorry but.. Style and Charm are my only means of defense." she pauses, and raises her hands so that the backs of her hands face Worm. It starts as a series of goosebumps along the backs of her hands, the first knuckle of her fingers, and up along her arms. Slowly, bony spines break bloodlessly through the skin, and extend outward with a slight curve back towards the elbows of each arm. The spines along her hands are actually longer then the thickness of her dainty hand would suggest, while the length of each spine tapers as one approaches the elbow. Overall, the longest spine is almost three inches long.

Best of all, their color matched her elegant cheveux!

"Style..." she waves the fingers of her right hand. "... and Charm." she repeats with her left. Once the demonstration was done, the spines relax and retract back under the skin... in half a moment, you couldn't even tell she ever demonstrated such a horrid talent. "Though, I'm much better at making friends then scars. Wouldn't you and your friends agree?" a smile that could sway a nation.

"I can protect myself just fine!" rashly said Cecilia, pouting all while looking around (Spot check (1d20+9=15)) to see if anyone were spying on them.

Ravage watches Unique's display with something akin to professional curiosity.  He nods approvingly once she is finished.  "Simple but effective.  My modular design is of course more practical as I can adapt to most conceivable situations but your spines do have an elegance about them."  He then turns to Worm.  "You have see what I can do, an answer to that question is unnecessary."

"Ravage, always the gentleman." she smiled to the warforged champion. "Though, I do so detest degrading personally to fisticuffs." she holds up her scarf. "I mean, this is genuine Greyhawk Silk. Do you know how hard it is to get blood out of it? Why it practically takes a miracle."

"Though..." she smiled, "I do recognize the value of a good scuffle."

No one is paying attention to any of you... in fact, it seems like paying attention to strangers is usually a very bad idea around here.

Worm leads the three of you out of the diner and across the seedy back streets of Evernight.  The presence of Ravage must help, since you aren't harassed at all on the way.

Worm takes you to a nondescript building, one of dozens like it that could house anything from two large families to offices to an illegitimate casino.  He walks up to the door brazenly, exuding nervous confidence, then pauses before going in.  "Um, are you guys ready?  When we go in, just, um, stand in the corner while I do the talking, okay?"

Ash straps the guns to his back, picks up the creds, and turns to the others. "I take it you are all armed. We should pick up ammunition, if any remains, and then we should move to those few I spoke of earlier. Better defensively, and we can research our foes."

Zero nods.  "You've got seniority, so right now you're the boss."  He checks his crystal.  "I've got 9 sonic left, plus a full ballistic."

Trent nods stiffly. He holsters his baton

"Ash, does your wound need attention?"

"It is healed, actually. Remainder is only a cosmetic scarring. Let's go, then." Ash slowly led the way out of the building, and kept a hand on the handle of the assault rifle strapped to him for the first few blocks. He called for a transport as soon as he saw one, and had it bring the group of three mercs back to the dinner he left the others in. Too many coincidences, too coordinated a hit to make Ash think it wasn't somehow connected. Maybe the man he had fought was part of this Black Lily group; it seemed more than likely. As they rode, Ash filled them in on what had happened at the interrogation, and the agent he'd met there. "I'm prone to believe these were not two unrelated events, even for Evernight."

"Oh but of course." Unique said with her usual Aerie accent. "This is your show, after all." she said with a smile, and when she was sure he wasn't looking, she gave Cecilia an encouraging nod. The two of them together were so cute! There was just something about encouraged natural coupling that she found so ... so ... scandalous!

The transport carries Ash, Trent, and Zero back across Evernight to the Greasy Arsehole.  When they arrive, Zero looks askance at the diner.  "I've been here before, I almost remember... nothing good comes out of this place."  The others aren't visible to Ash's eyes through the dirty windows, but in retrospect that isn't surprising.

Worm nods and opens the door, slipping inside, and the rest of you follow him into the room.  It's a study in bare, dingy wood; there's a rudimentary counter and a handwritten sign on a piece of cardboard which reads "Hynus's Procurermment".  Worm shoos you into a back corner, gives you a thumbs-up, and then knocks loudly on the counter.

"Hynus!" he yells, winking at Cecilia.  "It's Worm!  Get your ass off the couch!"

After a moment, a motheaten curtain behind the counter twitches aside, revealing an enormous man (presumably Hynus), almost 8 feet tall and nearly as broad, made of solid muscle.  He has a nasty scar over one eye, and a mean disposition.  The giant moves up to the counter and looks down at Worm, then at the group in the corner, giving particular notice to Ravage.  Then he looks down at Worm and grunts questioningly.

"Yeah, these are the ones," the boy says cheerfully.

Hynus reaches under the counter and presses something, and suddenly the telltale shimmer of a wall of force springs up around you, blocking off the corner from the rest of the room.

Worm pumps his fist in excitement.  "Yesssssss, got 'em in one!"  He bounces over to the other side of the wall and blows Cecilia a kiss.  "Sorry it had to end like this, babe... but you know how it is!  A Worm makes the best bait."

Hynus drops a fistful of creds on the counter, and Worm scoops them up.  Then he points at Unique.  "Don't listen to anything she says," and then at Ravage, "...and he's a Morphling.  Dunno about the girl."  Then he waves merrily and scampers out of the room.

Hynus moves around to lean against the other side of the counter, a huge vibro claymore in his meat-paws.  Then he settles in to wait.

Unique puts on her best hurt face. It's the one that could melt the heart of an ice gi... Was that a tear? "Worm, how could you?" she says, putting on the guilt. "You know that we can't be friends after this. There's ... *sniffle* ... too much bad blood." She held the look until Worm left. He'd deal with what was left of his guilt later, moments before Cecelia, Ravage, and herself hid his body.

Worm wasn't her only card, though. She dabbed at her eyes, to dry the tears she conjured up. Tearing on command was a useful skill... A lady is nothing if not resourceful. "Ravage, love. Be a dear and smash through this wall, would you?" she motioned not towards the wall of force, cause that would be stupid. But rather the wall to their back, the one with the door.

She then turned to Cecelia, a very apologetic look on her face. The most terrifying part of the look though was that it looked natural, maybe even sincere. "I'm so sorry, dear. I'll make it up to you. We're still friends, right?" and that's when Cecelia may notice it. A difference in the air. It wasn't Unique's perfume, that was more the subtle hint of cake frosting. I mean, who doesn't love cake frosting, right?

This was more. This was enticing. This was....

Jasmine and Honey.

"There is nothing about this place that would lead me to believe it is safe... let's get in quickly." Ash contemplated how much worse it could be for them to wait outside, where any number of shooters in any number of windows or vehicles could take them out.

Once inside, he wasn't terribly surprised to see that the group had left. Inquiring after the waitress who had served them, he asked if they had said anything about where they were headed.

The waitress looks at Ash like he has two heads.  "What, you think it's a good idea for me to pay attention to where my customers go?"

At that moment, Worm walks in, whistling.  He freezes for a second when he sees the three lifetorn, then saunters over.  "Hey! You came back."

Ash's eyes narrow for a moment, remembering how he had been going on about a job. "Yes, and I brought more capable hands for your job. Are the others I was with attached to you in employment? I am seeking them."
